Nick Gillard is great, he’s from my home city of Brighton U.K. and was kind enough to to be interviewed and take questions at an event a few months ago. A proper old school stunt man!
I'm assuming Nick just had a lighsaber to make it easier to show Sam Jackson the moves without them having to pass one back and forth. Jango Fett would be so inexperienced with a lightsaber that he would be foolish to try and weild one against someone of Mace's power. I see his last few moments as him being resigned to his fate and trying a last few shots from his trusty blaster out of desperation.
6:07 Not only rehearsing with lightsabers, but also it seems Jango would be using the properties of his beskar armour which makes him even a more challenging adversary, and define why a Mandalorian was the best chosen personal guard for a sith (Dooku).
All of this made me forget that Anakin's lightsaber gets cut in half during the factory scene. All of this posed a problem for me, because the hilt was basically useless, they'd have no reason to confiscate it, so presumably, both pieces are still down in the factory at the time of the film's ending. So, I wonder when and how long it took Anakin to go down into the factory and recover both pieces of the lightsaber to repair it. It probably didn't take long as the Kyber-Crystal probably called-out to him. However, in this proposed ending where the Saber survived and was confiscated by Jango...this presents just as much if not a _bigger problem_ for Anakin to recover it. Let's say that Jango had it on him when Mace decapitated him. Unless Anakin had enough foresight to recover it from his dead body during the fight - and the film suggests that he didn't - then it would still be on Jango's person when the battle was over... _Boba_ is left on the scene and takes Jango's body and buries it. He'd most likely discover the lightsaber and take it for his own. After all, he just watched a Jedi kill his father, so now he'd have a weapon that he could fight Jedi with. And I'd say that Boba is probably one of the hardest people in the galaxy to track down, especially when he was a kid.
I had no idea what you were talking about, so had to look it up. In a cartoon, he does this, yes. But in general the majority of people who like the Star Wars films, have not seen much or any of the animations because they were aimed at children. It's one of the reasons I missed most of them, because I was out at work when they were shown, here in the UK.
_"How could a Mandalorian bounty hunter pass up on a free lightsabre? I honestly don't think anyone could."_ [Cue product spot.] That was pretty smooth. 😉 Obviously, I haven't seen a finalised version of the slower/more political stuff (because no-one has) but I do think it's interesting. It does add depth and nuance. Thanks for sharing it. I have also always found the droid factory sequence a bit tedious. It looks exactly like what it is: something added as an afterthought with the actors jumping around a green/blue set with no real idea where they are or what they are doing because they have no real reference points. In fact, the first time I saw it, I assumed that it was essentially a straight up video game advert. It's just so platform gamey! What's more, I didn't really feel any tension or danger from it: there is no real character challenge, other than Anakin and Padme versus the highly contrived and illogical factory conveyor belt. Because that doesn't feel particularly real, I always just want the scene to get to the end so that we can get back to the interesting stuff again. Also, without the factory scene, Artoo wouldn't have had his (frankly, unconvincing) flying scene, leaving us wondering why there had been no hint of any astromech droids flying in any of the previous movies up to that point, not even the one actually on screen and flying right there. I'm ambivalent about the cheesy Threepio head-swap that also happens in the factory. It's a bit slapstick and cringe, but it doesn't bother me that much. I guess some people like it. For me, the whole scene is a clunky "filler" that adds very little, doesn't look particularly convincing or realistic and introduces some of the lowest (albeit in a minor way) points of the movie. So, yeah, I understand the pacing concerns, and GL is probably right that Obi-Wan being missing for an extended time wasn't the best but, on balance, I think I'd rather have had the character building and political nuance instead of the droid factory - but with different tweaks to fix the problems. It would feel more mature IMO. It could also be perceived as boring though, so I get that. I also think that, maybe, having the droids merely hinted at, and then suddenly appearing in such large numbers, might have had more shock value than us literally being shown that they are making thousands of droids and there essentially being no "tada!" reveal moment because we knew the droids were there and were going to show up at some point. But, I guess other people like the droid factory. As ever, it's all a matter of taste. Definitely a video worth watching. Thanks again. 😃
Lucas cuts the intelligent stuff and replaces it with childish nonsense. The CGI hasn’t aged well. The PT looks like a video game - overdone and far too busy in the action scenes.
I'm gonna disagree a bit on this one; Gillard wasn't weilding a lightsaber, he was HOLDING it (and doing so with the blade, not the hilt). That wasn't a duel or practice thereof, it was him holding a prop while instructing how to slice and dice. Also, Jango wouldn't be able to wield a saber worth a whit- not up to Padawan levels even. Setting aside the "need Force to use LS effectively" part, Jando wasn't a bladesman; he was definitely a ranged fighter. Mace vs Jando with a lightsaber? That'd just be sad.
It always felt that there was more to Dooku than what was revealed in the movies. He wasn't a true Sith, rather he was more of a neutral idealist, wanting to bring down the corrupt Republic and Jedi. He aligned himself with the Sith only to gain the upper hand, and would have probably turned on Palpatine once his goals were met.
This also serves as a great reminder why Dooku is such a great, morally gray villain. Oh yes, I remember that deleted scene - not from the comic or the original script, though, but from the official novel version of Attack of the Clones. It's there in its entirety, and I much prefer it to the movie version's scene with Obi-Wan.
The novel was plenty expanded. I remember it described how Clieg Lars lost his leg to a hidden wire trap set by the Sand People, and another scene, where Jango takes Boba fishing and teaches him how to shoot straight. A good book - better than the film.
This also means that the lightsaber Anakin had in Ep II would have been the one that Luke eventually inherits, instead of getting destroyed and Anakin having to build an identical one for continuity.
So Attack of the Clones was supposed to have more of a mystery with Obi-Wan's fate & Geonosis? Honestly I like a good mystery. I want to see the mystery version of AOTC
You know, I'm starting to see the Separtists (and the CIS) in a whole new light. Their intentions may have been noble, but sadly, they became nothing but mere pawns used by Palpatine in his plan for intergalactic conquest.
I’m sure many have said this before but I’d watch these extra or deleted scenes in an extended cut / running of Star Wars trilogy, prequel and all. A good, daresay _great_, story with depth that flows well can make a 3H movie feel like 2, it’s just a matter of who brings the storyline together.
I like this better, they probably would have had to cut it for time. I've said it before, but the prequels would have been so much better as a TV show.
I wish I could have a real lightsaber, just as they are in Star Wars. I don’t mean some half-assed technological compromise that replicates it to the best of humanity’s capabilities-I mean an actual, honest-to-God lightsaber exactly as it is in the Star Wars universe. The same components and parts that make up a lightsaber, the same kyber crystal that I personally bonded with to determine a color specific and unique to me, all put together to work the same way and be everything a lightsaber is in the Star Wars universe.
This just reminds me of how much more interesting Dooku would have been if he was actually raising a rebellion against the republic instead of just being peon for the emperor. Such a damn waste. But that’s pretty much everything in the prequels.
In Star Wars, *Dooku* may occasionally sound logical and true to justice, but sadly he is lying due to sith orders. In reality, some of such figures actually tend to speak the honest truth and are right, even logical.
The scene would have been the same length. The only difference would be Mace cutting off Jango's arm instead of the gun, so not much more excitement would have happened.😂
Sorry but a guy who primarily uses blaster and other projectile weapons suddenly using a lightsaber against a Jedi Master among Masters who invented his own killing style would still get washed in seconds
Meh, glad it was removed. Anytime some untrained or non-Force user not only effectively uses a lightsaber, but also uses it against not only a trained Force-user, but one of the best, it doesn't make them look "badass", it diminishes the lightsaber, and what it means to be a Force-user. What's not discussed and lost on so many people is how not only mind-bogglingly dangerous and difficult to wield a lightsaber is, and the gyroscopic effects that doesn't lend itself to be merely flipped around like a glorified flashlight (it offers counter-resistance) but a trained opponent like Mace has the means to use the Force in addition to the lightsaber, and is literally able to both anticipate what's coming through time and manipulate his opponent's very body, such as push the actual lightsaber handle in uncontrollable ways. Yeah, I get it, fans have been peeing down their pant leg since first seeing Boba Fett, and same goes for Jango. There's always been a run-away need to see them render a Force-user's abilities near moot for god-knows-why. I've never understood this burn most fans have to have the Fetts throw Jedi powers on their ear. All this would have been less-not-okay if the Fetts did/had something that was Force-relevant. Maybe even some backdoor way to almost use the Force, maybe even Force-programming their weapons (impressing midis into them somehow, whatever). At least with something like that, yeah, okay. But just being billybadass enough to literally saber battle Mace in any slightly effective way is just... undermining. Very very undermining. Glad it wasn't used.
To be fair, nothing here suggests that Jango would have wielded it " effectively". Similar to his lackluster demise in the final cut, I think it would have been amusing to watch him fumble around and not know how to use the saber and see mace completely obliterate him
@ @ Also in fairness, to wield one in a combat situation whatsoever, swinging it around, and not lop off one's own limbs when trying to not get killed by an opponent's weapons, even in desperation, IS "effectively." Or a form of.

Oh yes, I remember that deleted scene - not from the comic or the original script, though, but from the official novel version of Attack of the Clones. It's there in its entirety, and I much prefer it to the movie version's scene with Obi-Wan.
AOTC had some of the best deleted scenes
The novel was plenty expanded.
I remember it described how Clieg Lars lost his leg to a hidden wire trap set by the Sand People, and another scene, where Jango takes Boba fishing and teaches him how to shoot straight.
A good book - better than the film.
Dooku's quote at 2:21 rings true with the state of America today.
Lucas is the master of taking away a perfectly good scene and replacing it with goylsop
why would goyslop be what you went with
Why not?
@@Hoganply bc that’s nazi shit
This also means that the lightsaber Anakin had in Ep II would have been the one that Luke eventually inherits, instead of getting destroyed and Anakin having to build an identical one for continuity.
"You know what I do when I feel completely unoriginal?? La, blah, blah Blah, la, la !!"
So Attack of the Clones was supposed to have more of a mystery with Obi-Wan's fate & Geonosis?
Honestly I like a good mystery. I want to see the mystery version of AOTC
Love seeing your ads all over twitter.
Obi Wan saw the droids being built en masse. That's how we knew about the droid army.
None of Obi Wan’s scenes were included until after these deleted scenes were removed. We wouldn’t have seen Obi wan on Geonosis at all until the arena
Okay so this guy trying to be like theory
@@brandon21782 I had sabers way before Theory, bro
@ oh my bad then it’s just ur a smaller channel and never heard of u, u were just recommended.. sorry
I can see why Lucas took out the scene with Dooku. If he didn’t, The Count would be seen more as an Anti-hero and people would gravitate towards him.
Jango killed half a dozen Jedi with his bare hands, I don’t think he was trying to take a lightsaber for its own sake.
We got the next best thing but not quite 🤷🏻♂️
They did Jango so dirty, he would not have died against Mace Windu
0:21 casually holds a light saber
Pretty interesting, but don't give Dooku too much shine since he is LYING about The Chancellor...
This just reminds me of how much more interesting Dooku would have been if he was actually raising a rebellion against the republic instead of just being peon for the emperor. Such a damn waste. But that’s pretty much everything in the prequels.
this is so good honestly, sad that they've changed it in the movie
George Lucas , the guy who created dooku is pronouncing it wrong. but Dough-Ku sounds hilarious
These scenes are so much better than the factory scene which I find the weakest in the film.
In Star Wars, *Dooku* may occasionally sound logical and true to justice, but sadly he is lying due to sith orders.
In reality, some of such figures actually tend to speak the honest truth and are right, even logical.
Star Wars Contents: *Hello There!*
The scene would have been the same length. The only difference would be Mace cutting off Jango's arm instead of the gun, so not much more excitement would have happened.😂
@@thebeast9606 he also gets stabbed
Someone should do a Jango vs Mace : reimagined the same way they did Darth Vader vs Ben Kenobi. Jango could've put up more of a fight....
I agree that’d be pretty cool
Cool, i want a cuis clone saber then!
Thank you for sharing this! 👍
Jesus is king
Sorry but a guy who primarily uses blaster and other projectile weapons suddenly using a lightsaber against a Jedi Master among Masters who invented his own killing style would still get washed in seconds
Why didn’t Jango have a melee weapon and at least block some of Mace Windus blows???
Wouldn't have worked. Jengo would be at a disadvantage using a light sabre. Would have looked cool, but it wouldn't have worked.
God is good Jesus Christ
It would've been pretty stupid. Why would Jango Fett change to a weapon he has no experience with and fight Windu on his terms?
The same way Mandalorian use the Dark Saber

Weird that the Creator of Star Wars can't even say Dooku's name correctly. Who's Doku? Is he related to Goku from Dragon Ball?
Doku? as George just pronounced it
Or dooku? I’ve always said dooku
Did Dooku not know who the chancellor really was? Or was it just a red herring?
Dough Koo 😅
his character, I mean we can't really criticise him lol
Jesus is king of kings
Back again yay
Jesus Christ of Nazareth destroyed satan
I love george but he's made alot of bad decisions...
Changing the palpatine v 4 jedi fight was stupid.
Watching Natalie Portman try to portray gravitas is like a joke, but not funny.
The factory scene was dumb. It would have been better to keep the negotiations and politics
Doku??
EPIC! Love this deleted scene, wish there was a way to have it included in Attack of the Clones.
Natalie Portman is not a good actress. She was good one time, and that was in Leon.
The prequels alternate between boring and silly.
Those deleted scenes are so poorly acted!
Attack of the Clones is the worst Star Wars movie by far... not including Disney's episode 7, 8 an 9 - which are NOT true Star Wars movies.
