Yes. It should have just been stopped after the 2nd knockdown. Simply because the ref was asking Diaz questions and Diaz was just staring. He was done at that moment but he got up because he is most likely a warrior with a huge heart

@@thirstyjuvenile650 this is why I am so often disgusted with martial arts fights, the refree should have stopped earlier. his corner should have thrown the towel after 2nd knockdown or at least after the 3rd, just spare the man 20seconds of pointless beating. but everybody wants the show, everybody wants your money, even your corner. makes me sick.

That second punch that dropped Diaz was nasty.
Ref should have stopped the fight after the 2nd knockdown. He asked Diaz if he was ok and Diaz said nothing and when a fighter is up staring into the distance it's over. If they will not look you in the eye as a ref when they are in the condition he was in then you ask them one more time do you want to fight? Then you tell them to look at you. It's my opinion I know. The fight was over though at that point. Diaz knew it which is why he was just staring. It seemed to be a sign of fear and he lost confidence and just said F it and went for it because he probably has heart

Alvez is suuuuch a warrior. I have so much respect for the amount of heart and FIGHT he brings to every bout. He gets cut, injured, tired.. but never plays games in the ring; he steps in there to fight and that’s exactly what he does from start to finish.
Plus we all know he did the refs job by stopping the fight in the last 20 seconds. He could’ve really hurt Diaz but he restrained himself. Mad respect.
