hello
Could I suggest making time jumps to skip build spoilers? Most sets I don’t care myself, but speed champions is the one theme I like to keep the surprises for when I build them. I was able to skip without much trouble though 😅
About 80% of my video is about the build itself, so if you want to avoid spoilers maybe my channel is not the best choice for you :)
The G wagon actually is the first 4 seater speed champions set. The Lamborghini and Jaguar SUVs could seat a max of 3 minifigures, and were only really designed to seat two. The convertible is a simple build, but it is valuable simply as a base to build other convertibles. It is also the first of its kind, seating 3 minifigures with reclining front seats. I appreciate the engine detail, as all die cast model cars have this feature, and these are cars you may see on the road, so having an opening hood makes a lot of sense. Your take on the G Wagon looking like a Hummer is only true to the extent that both vehicles look fairly similar. There is a very obvious difference in the Hummer comparison so much from the side that I get the impression you couldn't come up with an actual reason why you disliked it. If you look at the picture of the G Wagon comparison, the wheels are right about the same size. The colomn bumps on the hood I believe are there to represent the ridges on the actual car. It is insane that this is priced the same as the other double pack, and is cheaper than the old 8 stud wide SUV and race car double pack. At $45 and 808 pcs, it's worth the retail price and already feels like a deal as I though Lego would be asking $50 for it, considering the smaller Ford GT and Bronco set was that price. In fact, I could have seen Lego charging $55 for it. It wouldn't be worth that price, but $45 is about 20% off the expected Lego up-charge.
that rear window is like 9-year-old me building a custom car using random spare parts from the box of bits
FR
That g wagon feels so massive compared to other speed champion cars.
Just like the real one
@@saltycandy245 Well, it it bully and bricky, yes. But bu far, it is not the biggest SUV. I mean all these Fords, Chevy's, etc. They also damn huge, but their shapes are more smooth and it hides their real sizes, while Gwagon "hides nothing".
@@saltycandy245 G Wagon is pretty small as flagship SUVs go. It's almost three feet shorter than a Suburban.
pretty sure it might have the same dimensions as the bronco a few years back
bigger than the bronco?
One of the only few reviewers that mattered when it comes to Speed Champions!
So I was going to Walmart with my mom to possibly buy a Lego set, and then I saw all 3 of the new Lego Speed Champions sets on display. I decided to get this one! Incredible build, absolutely loved it!
These sets aren't out yet though? Lego and the video both say June
@@cybersilver5816 sometimes they drop early, I found the lego delivery truck thats supposed to release June 1st at Costco yesterday for 25% off.
@@cybersilver5816 walmart usually has sets a few weeks before they're officially released
@@cybersilver5816 Walmart regularly puts out shippers the week before release. The shippers say "First at Walmart!" so I don't know if it's an official early release deal or the stores just put them out when they have the endcap clear. Regardless, check your Walmarts. You should be able to find this set, the Astons, and the Lambo at a minimum.
I went to walmart yesterday hoping these were put out early. I was pleasantly surprised and bought all 3 new speed champion sets! Just finished the G Wagon myself
3:09 Set 79605 (Ford double pack from 2021) had 3 bags for the Bronco and 2 for the GT.
Last years BMW double pack had it to
Yeah the bronco was huge
@@jodijo5gre314which BMW double pack came out last year?
@@idonjohnson6999he meant the one from earlier this year, I think he's confused cause there's 2 waves this year
Yo I have that set and it’s Amazing and I can’t believe I have that set for almost 3 years
I can't wait to see the Technic G-Wagon in the line of summer sets. 😊
Same
Do you know what it's price gonna be?
@@Some.egg. 250$
My little girl is always playing with my Speed Champion cars, she loves being able to fit a whole family in the car so I know she'll be excited by the G Wagen.
There's not that many 4 seater minifigure scale cars about surprisingly.
Yeah, mine too. She loves these 4-seaters, especailly convertible or if it can be turned to it easily (DB5 is the current favorite), and I feel these two models will be new carry-all cars.
Oh, how I wanted some easy to remove the rear door for G63.
Ok rb finally started, i cannot wait for the vision!
I think these cars aren't that off as you described them. The Sl would actually look pretty cool with another windshield, and that G-wagon with this huge hood looks straight up like a Brabus to me. Plus, it is refreshing to see some more normal cars in the speed champions lineup
I agree, I was much more disappointed about this new Lamborghini. Clever build, but if you don't know the original car - it looks like some spaceship with wheels, probably because each of the latest Lamborghini hypercars looks like it, but in that case I don't understand why LEGO used this car for the set. Mercedes set with iconic G-Wagon and nicely build SL looks much better, I think
@@vitaliysanikovich3664 Yep, definitely an odd choice for the Lambo. A miura, aventador or diablo would've been a much better choice
The best channel for in-depth speed champions reviews! Keep it up, RB!
That G-Wagon looks super cool!!! O.O
Thank you for this amazing review ❤
This set is so sick, love the gwagon as my dad has one irl, gonna buy it today
Plus i think it looks accurate enough, i’m also gonna go compare it next to the real thing 👌
I can’t stop playing with the g wagon
Great builds, can’t wait to get the set 🤙
I bought and build the set last week and I'm loving it every day I look at it I love it I am glad Lego came out with a G-Wagon and a convertible Benz 💛👊💛👊🔥🔥🔥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars
The SL63 looks like the support act that you have to go through before the headliner G63. Blocky cars translate really well into Lego, like my favourite of the line, the Audi Quattro S2.
Daum, can't wait to buy this. It looks awesome!
The building technique used for the g wagon is so interesting to see in a official set, with the axle going through it and using offset studs everywhere, the red and green parts to distinguish the front and back is really smart, so it's disappointing to see the solutions they came up with for the rear window and not trying to offset the spare tire a stud to help with the look of the rear. This review made me look at the speed champion Lamborghini countach set now lol
I love the G Wagon 😍
Fantastic set!
Wait for discounted price then, thanks for the review!
I see what you’re saying about the g wagon! From my view I think it looks like a Lego-ized version of the car, when I see it my first thought is “oh, that is a g wagon for Lego mini figure people.” Excited to pick it up. Keep up the good work!
It's 1:00 here in the Philippines, was gonna sleep, then I saw this, I've been waiting for it, now I won't sleep:>
I agree with your review!
Honestly for me both of these look pretty solid and it's a set I definitely want to have for both cars
Damn nice review as always my friend
Seems to me like a good double pack, the base for G63 is really cool - could a base for some military vehicle design.
Thanks for video! I wanna buy it!
the mini is still my favorite double pack it's just so perfect.
I've had to request replacement stickers TWICE from Lego. They really do need to give them some kind of casing to prevent bending and stickers coming off, something that won't damage anything else in the box. Maybe a good solution is a cardboard envelope with rounded edges, and a layer of cling plastic over the sticker sheet, like what Gundam does sometimes. Now that I think of it, maybe there's even a way to make stickers no longer have that static issue where they're ever so slightly "magnetized" to the plastic when in close proximity (if you've applied stickers enough times you know what I'm talking about). That would help with quicker and more accurate placement, important for small stickers.
Love your vids
Cool bro
That’s pretty good i like it
This is a really great set. Usually, I wait for the reviews to buy a new speed champions set. However, when I saw it in the store, I HAD to buy it. This is the first SC set for 2024. There's all really good looking, I just don't have the space.
I love the look of the G Wagon from a distance. The rear is bad but looks like a fun build and good design
Mentioning the HUMMER H2 reminded me of how much I want a HUMMER H2 speed champions set and how good it would look!
holy moly!
Iblove the new speed champions, he looks so good ❤
I do think the G-Wagon looks good but something about it seems off, probably just the hood and rear window
anxiously waiting for the barad dur review!
I’m already getting this soon
W lego that s so cool
I’m not really used to these new engines and if I ever need an engine I would just make one out of bricks on my own man tbh I might get rid of the opening mechanism on the SL63 and may just turn the G wagon into the EQ one
I think they look cool
The G 63 really looks massive. Gives the impression of an armored car.
Its ancestor was candiate for a military personel car, so I think that armoring was planned as an option.
While the critique is fair, I still very much enjoy the fact that a non-supercar made it to Speed Champions. Yes the G-Wagen is an AMG, but it's much less exotic than Paganis, Lamborghinis and proper race cars one can only see on the track.
on the topic of a set having more bags for one car than the other, this is the 2nd set to do it, the M4 GT3 is 4 bags with the M Performance hybrid being 3 bags in the 2 pack from the march 2024 sets. bags for each set have been a little all over the place with speed champions this year. Mclaren F1 car is 3, Mustang is 4 and S1 Etron is 4 compared to the usual 2 bags per car
100% agree with some of the flaws but other than that it's nicely realized, detailed pair of vehicles with so unique, and unusual building techniques. Really like seeing a large SUV styled build in the theme. As far as numbered bags go I think the Bronco Trophy truck, and Mopar Dragster had 3/4 bags a piece as both were enormous builds. Considering this is an 800 piece set probably one of the best valued sets Speed Champions has released yet. Side note. G Wagon is supposed to represent a 4 door, but still looks like it only has two with the only thing to signify the rear doors is the rollers cake piece. Nice to see opening hoods, but kinda redundant if all you see is the engine cover.
What he said was correct; the porportions are wrong for the G-wagon
Although it’s not perfect, it is definitely a very appealing set. I feel those who are crazy for Lego who will get this will fix up some of the issues the set has, while those who just like to buy some here and there won’t really be bothered and when showing it to friends and family they’ll all think it’s awesome. Definitely a set I want to buy and will be happy with :)
I like that lego kept this set at €50 given its 800+ piece count. The G wagon was a awesome build, reminded me of a miniature creator build. I also like the convertible, yes a straight forward build, but It looks great. Totally understand the frustration of having to overstate this is only ever your opinion B. I believe you always give a measured approach to critique and praise. I enjoyed your review as always.
I think this set is a winner. I like both. The SL us is just cool and G-Wagon is brutal. Only think I don’t like is the all black color. This hides all the details. It should have been white or red. And keep wheel, door handles etc in black for detailing.
I find this the first double pack where I equally like both. And with the massive part count, it offsets the small part count of the McLaren F1 car.
I had a set come with mangled stickers like that. It's a shame they can't add a little folder slot into the instructions to keep them safe but I imagine it's cheaper to just send out a new sheet for the few people who end up with destroyed ones.
Am I really the only one who likes the SL better?
I’ve been waiting for your review and I enjoyed it so thanks. The G wagon seems really cool but it’s so expensive. The SL63 has kinda grown on me but I still don’t like the front - I don’t think the flip up hood is that necessary. Also the G wagon hood is annoying too how it’s so sloped but eh. I would buy if I had the money.
You asked for a speed champions set that had more bags in one car than the other.
The 2024 march wave the BMW double pack have it that way.
imo even though the G wagon is not accurate, I really like the fact that it looks like an armored car
I like that the hoods lift up as a reminder to how often the real versions are in the garage and would cost you in maintenance 🤣
FINALLY
I didn't expect the return of the 6x6 tile previously used for the 70 Dodge Challenger due to the bad critizism it had on its released in 2021, I bought the set just for the pony car and I must say that piece is pretty bad quality.
If the SL63 had proper windshield, I probably would have purchase the set; they created a big rear windshield for the DB5 which have almost no use except for that model but didn't created a new one for the SL63 which I'm sure would have been very useful in the SC Line in the future
Waiting for MOCs that utilize printed and stickered pieces from the g-wagon to make a better one and for the SL i just want a different windshield
I'm definitely keen to get this Mercedes double pack before the BMW doubles pack (which is full of stickers).
One of the times I agree with there being a clear preferable car in a double pack
I really like this cars
The Ford Bronco and Lamborghini urus came in 3 bags as opposed to the 2 of the other build in the set. Not as much but still there. Wasn't my memory though, they're just right in front me and I looked it up😂.😂
Quality over quantity
What was first 4 seater Speed Champion set?
Pre-ordered together with Formula 1 :)
When it comes I will build G-Class by my own way.
No slopes in front and no gaps in the back :)
Not feeling this set myself but keep up the good work my man.
This set's price in the UK is the only double pack set of this year that makes sense, by virtue of the G63 being far bigger and denser than any other Speed Champions car we've had.
The pricing of the double pack Speed Champions sets in the UK this year makes no sense, as they're actually more expensive than two single pack sets for no reason at all. £21 for the single car sets, but £45 for the double packs.
As for this set, these are probably the most playable Speed Champions cars we've had, due to the opening bonnets and being able to seat a total of seven minifigures between them. Looks totally cool to build them too. But the accuracy, which is normally the hallmark of sets of this theme, is definitely flawed here.
While I really don't like SUVs and 4x4s generally in real life, I do like that we've got something different from the usual array of ultra rare hypercars and concept cars. We've got two somewhat normal cars here which is a nice change of pace, and 4x4s are oddly under-represented in this theme. I would like to see hot hatches and rally cars in the future.
I seem to be in the minority where I hate the G Wagon both in concept and look, but like the SL 63. Even if it's a simple build it is so rounded and smooth and one of two other yellow cars so far and the second roadster of you include the McLaren Elva. The hood definitely needs to me modified to remove the opening feature but other than that I really like it.
The G Wagon is another giant monstrosity that's just pure black and hard to display. Might be fun for play but not what I'd call a 'speed champion' vehicle and it's just boring. Cool build but a boring vehicle
They’re not even race cars 💀 but this set is so good ☺️
Im getting this set just for the G Wagon as I want it for my custom minifigs. Wonder if someone will buy 2 of these and make the 6 wheel G Wagon. That would be insane.
Hahaha the Walmart near me not only put this out two weeks early, they already reduced the price to $35 US to make room for a pool endcap
Nice work. I hate that ugly hood on the AMG G63; however, I will still buy it. I love the yellow SL63. 😁
With what you noted about it, I almost feel like the G-wagon harkens back to the 6-stud era speed champions cars. Not in size, obviously haha, but in that something about the scale seems off in certain elements. It's a decent build no doubt, and I am interested to build it, but it's just not as "accurate" as other speed champ cars. IMHO

If u want to nitpick little things like size and proportion then just get megablocks they’re way more versatile and have a specific mold for everything
Several other Speedy Champions models managed to get the proportions right, so it's not impossible in this universe either.
The g wagon looks pretty good 👍👍👍👍
The minifig looks like an ant In front of it XD
Great video, liked it. One question that is off topic, I have built the BMW m1000rr set and while its mostly great I noticed one thing. Gear one (the gear in which the engine runs fastest at constant wheel spin) is very stiff. I've built it twice, everything is correct so I am very confused as to why there us so much friction in that gear. Do you have any idea why this could be? I'm sure I'm not the only one. When assembling I even took extra care to minimise friction between gears by spacing them a little. No difference.
🙏🏻 the Aston Martin set next please.
3:00 The set with a Ford GT and Ford Bronco, the Bronco had 3 bags while the Ford GT had two.
Love U from thailand
I LOVE t when Speed Champions look like cars you might actually see on the road, and not Formula 1 cars.
In last wave's BMW double pack the one car had 3 and the other one 4 bags if I am not mistaken
The way the G wagon is built is very unique for speed champions and as a set in general. It feels more like a moc to me wich is good because I guess the designer had fun with it and it seems more interesting to build. It looks like it takes more than half the piece count so maybe around 500 pieces wich would justify buying the set for this vehicle solely because when you're only interested in one car in a two pack, it better be a good deal.
In terms of price per piece it might be one of the best speed champions deal yet (808 pcs for 50$) so I don't mind the price increase. The aston artin two pack in the other hand is the same price for 564 pcs wich is still passable but compared to the older mercedes two pack with the same piece count for 45$, it feels a bit unjustified.
3:23 ummm that is so weird and unusual I see in a speed champions set. A big Technic structure instead of the premade car chassis.
5:15 and what the… a detailed engine bay in a speed champions set??? How did the designers even manage to squeeze that in
I’ll still said the Bronco R is stlll my favorite, with Urus second and the G Wagon third. I think they could have gotten away with having a race car to swap with the SL 63, or maybe a retro Mercedes? Like a AMG Hammer or S600?
I agree with your rant on the SL 63 but on the G 63 the pictures you compare it to in its real life counterpart is the old G 63. The one in the set is based on the new 2024 G 63 check out a few pics. See if it changes your mind, great review by the way though!
I used photos of the recent version in my preview (at least I hope so), the overall proportions didn't look very different
I have this set,one difficulty making the g-Wagen when I placed the door handles they wouldn’t connect I tried pulling it but it won’t work end result is the back of the car can just completely collapse if I even just push a little bit. The sl 63 was good and had no problems
I completed the G Wagen With no dificulties , you probable missed somthing
BMW double pack have 7 bags of bricks. 4 for the M4 and 3 for the M8 if I remember correctly
The black 6x6 tile on the roof of G3 should be glossy. So it ruins the whole look of the car. But the 6x6 grey tile on the large aston martin DB5 wasn’t also not glossy. I see a strategy.
The Bronco in the Bronco/Ford GT had more bags also- and pretty huge (maybe not G-Wagon huge, we'll see)
You can see them side by side in the video :)
Found this and every new speed champions set in a Walmart, bought 2 for my friend 🤣🤣🤣
Great video as always, thanks again for sharing :)
I have a question, which set would you buy, 76922, 76924 or 76925? To do alternate builds?
Why is 76924 not available with Prime. Also almost a month for shipping?
Speed champions is my favourite theme and this entire year both waves have been disappointing I’ve not picked up any of them yet as not been able to get them at a price I think is reasonable. The G wagon is the first of the cars this year I have considered actually picking up because it is so unique for the theme. I still might end up picking up the new city crane over this double pack though.
