Crystal clear audio and video. I wish others would follow suit. Amazing what you can learn from someone who puts in the extra effort to actually make an informative video
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. You saved me a bunch of money and having to haul this beast down to the shop again. Now I also know how to drain the fuel when storing this thing so hopefully I don't have such frequent problems keeping it running.
Just used this to fix my Honda EM Inverter 7000 is. Had not started it in years since now have whole house generators and it was not put up correctly. I would have turned off fuel and ran it dry but somehow that did not happen. My model was very different from the one shown in this video but the concepts were the same. The the very bottom of my black box carburetor that was completely covered up so you could not clearly see the bowl was a 14 mm bolt that I figured had to be the drain so I opened it and let the old fuel out with the valve turned off. When I tried again it started right up with a huge puff of smoke. What a great video - Thanks.
I have a Honda 7000is. Was over 5k and has 200 hours on it. Maintained meticulously and always treated right. Imonitor displays with main switch on. It cranks but won't start. Error codes:e-2e, e-22, and e-12 are all related to inverter protection. I don't know if that's just in reference to times when the generator tripped from too much draw or if it's related to my issue. Everything looks new as far as fuel pump and fuel filter goes. It's fuel injected vs carborated, and my gut tells me that is the likely issue if fuel gummed up in the ports. Have you dealt with this?
Good video but it would have been nice to see how you put together the top part with the little springs underneath the choke and idle electronics. That is a vital part of finishing the job.
Help please! Trying to get generator running before hurricane comes. Got the carburetor off and cleaned. But what is the secret to getting those 2 springs back in place?
so i am running one of these generators and one day i just couldn't get the engine to run... i can hear it cranking... it wasn't the battery or anything. My uncle told me to add a couple drops of gasoline fuel inside the spark plug hole (the little insert where you screw the spark plug inplace) When I added some couple of drops into the spark plug hole and started the generator after... voila the engine starts... but i gotta do this every time i need to start the engine. Is there a way you could explain why that works? or what is wrong with my generator? I have the same exact model as well.
Depends on the manufacturer of the generator. Aftermarket carbs can be found all over but I have had some issues with them. I prefer OEM, you can purchase that from whoever is a dealer for that brand.
I didnt watch any video of the carb removal and made the mistake of leaving the wiring on and separating the auto choke and throttle motors from the top of the carb. There are 2 tiny springs that of course fell off and I have no idea of how to realign the motors to hook back up with the throttle and and choke. Any ideas?
Thank You for the video. Great Information. Question: A friend of mine has the same generator. I must admit I have never seen this generator up close before. The problem I noticed with his generator is when idling with the Eco off it reads approx 3300 rpm. No problem. When I put the Eco on with no load it does not reduce speed at all, it remains at 3300 rpm's. I believe it should reduce to around 2400 rpm's. When I put on 500 watt work light then put on the eco It lowered to 3180 rpm's Shut off the Eco and it goes back to 3300. Shouldn't the rpm's with no load reduce to approx 2400 rpm's? Have you ever had to research problems with the Eco? Any Ideas would be helpful. Thank You.
Have cleaned the carb but the engine still cuts out and loges a eo4 fault coad is ther ant electrical test I can do to find the fauilt am a diesel mechanic and small engine repairer but are unable to find any test proseders
Informative video but I bet the unit would have started and run well by just changing out the old gas. I do believe bad gas is the cause of endless problems with generators of all types simply because they sit for long periods of time without being used and the gas goes bad. My solution is...only use premium non ethanol gas (just like in outboards) and mix some methyl hydrate in the gas for water absorption. I have three generators including the EU6500 and they always start immediately even after being stored some times for more than a year. Just sayin......
Hi dear; I have a Honda generator model EU03000is;I didn't have used it for more than 4 year, two days ago I checked up ,it wase difficult to start, I cleaned up carburettor, air cleaner, all of the petrol hosts, and replaced the spark plug with new one, but still have that problem, whe the generator starts ofter ten seconds automatically becomes off,and also during the ten seconds running the machine, generator having quakes and smoke comes out from the sensor, what's the fault with it.could guide me please?
@darkwood777 it’s not the case I spoke of. It is the hinges door. If u look again@ recoil start attempts #2 @20sec &24sec u will see him grab the top of the flapping hinged door2 brace himself &pull the recoil starter. This is why I work on my own equipment This guy would never b trusted 2work on my equipment because he can’t be trusted. Technicians routinely break something else because they aren’t careful. I’ve seen people behave like this4 years.
My generator runs fine the green light is on when starting but goes out after about 10 minutes? Then generator continues to run but no power to home .Can anyone help me?
If the generator itself keeps running but the output voltage drops off then their is likely a fault occurring within the generator section itself. The potential high voltage inside there gen-set really dictate that you take the unit to someone qualified to work on it, otherwise you are risking personal health.

Thanks from France
Exactly my trouble, video very helpful
REAL MECHANIC YOU CAN TELL BY HIS HANDS!
This video must have been before I knew you! This was a heck of a video, Chris!
Excellent video, thank you for taking the time to make this...very much appreciated. Thank You !!!
You need to change SCREEN SET, FUEL STRAINER and the lane gas to the carburator have another small filter on the pipe.

super clear video and explanation

thank for the video, do you know if there is a kit for the two o-ring the big one and the smaller one thank you let me know
can i use wd-40 on a rusty crankcase(fuel tank) of my Honda generator. Please reply🙄
Help please! Trying to get generator running before hurricane comes. Got the carburetor off and cleaned. But what is the secret to getting those 2 springs back in place?
Moral of the story. Never rely on a single generator. I have 4 and 3 of them are dual fuel or tri fuel. I hope you weathered the storm!
Excellent video, well done!

Why does my generator of the same exact model (6500) only start with a pull but not the key switch? I checked fuses, and battery connections.
Thanks
great question i hope someone can answer
excellent video!
Thank you sir! Where is the best place to buy replacement carb just in case I mess up?

You got the solution for this?.

You are correct; it sounds like there is some sort of problem with the ECO switching on your generator.
@@TOURMANBOB it turns out the idle was set to high. Once I set the idle to normal specs the eco worked as it should.
@@dj5752 Good ! Its great when problems are simple

what kind of chemical did you have in that ultra sonic cleaner?
Jeremy , I'm just using distilled water and dawn dish detergent. Works like a charm for most usages.

Clean idle jet
U haven't cleaned pilot jet and pilot needle
@darkwood777 oh, you really think so?
To avoid all of this start your generator at least once every 2 weeks for 10 mins and with a load on it and regular maintenance
You sound like Ray Liotta
Way to mash that guys door whilst pull starting it.
Less than 1min in& what do I see. A technician pushing off of the door to recoil start. OMG

Science Of Diagnostics thank you for your quick response..stuck without power in calif winds..
Buy a new generator 👍
