The backing singers, The Wild Tonics, make this so joyous. Gorgeous smiles and great moves. Good effort by The Fratellis, cracking cover.
your correct good backing singers good effort by the Fratellis
I'm now a little bit infatuated with The Wild Tonics
Just utterly brilliant ❤️👌
@@jasonarmes8153 i do hope they join the tour. this whole album with the promo vids is just joyous.... its almost like everyone's been unleashed after being locked down for a year.....oh ...wait
I agree. Especially the tallest Tonic, the one on the right. She's so into it and has great moves.
I like watching the one nearest the camera, she is the best mover
I have always liked this song, although just stumbled across this version. WOW totally blown it 👍.
As someone who bought this by Baccara on vinyl about 48 years ago, I expected not to like this cover, but it's excellent. Well done!
Never seen such a happy band of backing singers. Fabulous 👍👍👍
Is that because the backup singers were better than the main one
they are called The Wild Tonics....well worth checking out

@@ryanlaird6447 oh fuck off- we only have four or five musical acts that don’t involve bloody bagpipes and one of them’s a tax collector who’s bin dead for a hundred years. Here in Scotland you haftae take what you can get
They are brilliant backing singers.Contribute so much to this.
I heard this on the radio this morning and it literally stopped me in my tracks. What an absolutely brilliant cover version. I love the instrumentals and this guy has an incredible voice. I spent most of the afternoon watching this over and over again (when I should have been working). One of my favourite cover versions ever.
You should listen to their album Costello music if you like this! They are an absolutely phenomenal band, one of my favourite bands of all time
100% agree , just wow , backing singers aint half bad either , love it
Have to agree, these have been at the far reach of my radar and the record is a classic and this was one of the best things I ever heard when Christoff had them in. Quality
100% agree with you there. Absolutely amazing version and aren't those backing singers something else?
You need to get out more if this ‘literally stopped you in your tracks’....
The Fratellis live version is actually better than their own studio version, ngl
I’m watching it again and again, not just because it’s a fantastic cover but that middle backing singer is beautiful.
I'm greedy, I like them all!😝
I genuinely struggle to look at the other two - not because there's anything wrong with them, I just physically struggle to keep my eyes off the middle one!
you read my mind! she is so beautiful!
drop dead gorgeous....
Middle one got the charms for sure.
This performance is flawless and John’s voice! ?!! Wow!
🏴 In case you’re unaware, this is the Tartan Army’s 2021 Euro Championship theme song, hence re-done spectacularly by a fantastic Scots band 👍
I thought so are they going to release it as a single
Hope they released the single 🥰💙🏴
Well done! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷❤️
Pob Lwc from Cymru 🏴
It’s a great version but it’s still hard to beat “We’re on the March with Ali’s Army “
The best by far remake of a disco classic I absolutely love and yes sir I can boogie to this
one month later and I'm still here every day to listen to this
Wow, not just The Fratellis but how good are the backing singers 👏👏👏
for once youtube recommended something good, this was brilliant
This is what official Scotland songs should sound like. Upbeat and easy to sing when drunk
Mate I think they hit the last part fine.
Easy? Are you f-ing joking?!?! 😂😍
Is he trying not to laugh at my jokes? 😜
Amen brother
bout ami mcd
What a badass trio of backing singers :)
What a great bit of music. Extra cheers for the drummer and the back up singers.
So guilty this morning of singing at the top of my vocal range to this in my car with every one staring thinking I’ve lost the plot !
Wow, this is amazing! The background singers! The horns! That guys voice! Fantastic!
Tarrantino needs to make another film and this MUST be in it somewhere. Total class.
Those trumpets ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
good observation!!
What about Jakey Brown 😂. Come on Scotland
Wit??
Hahaha totally!
The whole arrangement just works .....
Can't stop coming back to this
Fantastic...the backing singers were pure joy!
The back singers make this song just fabulous... the energy of the trio!!
Who is that middle bird? ~swoon~
@@samhill2655 Right? Can't keep my eyes off her.
@@samhill2655 Obviously not her but she's a dead ringer for the Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring
I honestly think this is the best cover song I've ever heard!
Then you’ve not heard Muse covering Nina Simone’s you know how I feel. Genius.
@mikeBiggs25 i quite honestly think you're right
And I agree with you Mike.
There's probably loads you don't realise were covers then
Watching him fight the urge to jump out of his seat and dance around is a joy
😂 you know it.
This is just simply awesome. In 12 months of misery, this just puts a smile on your face
Anyone else getting a Neil Hannon/Devine Comedy vibe with this?
It's what a cover should be, take it and totally make it your own.
Yes! Couldn't put my finger on it, but I could absolutely see Neil singing this! They've both got exceptional voices, particularly in their lower register. Lovely.
Mmm, interesting. I raise you Sir with Billy Mackenzie ( with a soupçon of Bowie in the first quarter).
Nicely done lyric changes almost missed them until he didn't already tell us in the 1st verse. Agree got one or two Divine Comedy CDs and seen them live, now have one or two Fratellis CDs and will try and catch them live.
On the National Express we can boogie
Spot on. Brilliant comparison
Fantastic! Come on Scotland, use this as inspiration and be heroes tonight.
The more I listen to this version the more I like it. Love the girls routine in this, especially the knee kicks
Buzzin for the Euros COME ON SCOTLAND 🏴🏴🏴🏴
COME ON SCOTLAND U CAN BOOGIE
We did not boogie
Sturgeon has egg on her face tonight....

Brilliant! If you don’t love this you don’t love music!
Stumbled on to this version last night. Think I have racked up about 1k of the views since then lol. Such a cool remake.
This is too addictive...Backing girls the Wild Tonics are fantastic.Always been a fantastic band but this sound is crazy good
The range that these guys have on music is incredible. On top of Jon having amazing vocals, the Fratellis are one of the most underrated bands out now.
Mate they've been around for 15 years had a few top 10 albums and singles in UK so let's not go acting like they haven't had the recognition or that they're some new to the scene indie band that your jumping on with your hipster bandwagon.
@@Bluenosedcoop this is the reply 👍
@@Bluenosedcoop They are incredibly underrated though. They were popular in the UK during the Costello Music days, but they never reached that level again. They deserve to be playing stadiums.
100 percent ,, i agree
@@hysteria1113 😂 yeah ok
I'm obsessed with this s !! Not only this but the whole set they did on the breakfast show
This one if them songs that stops your tracks, makes you smile and hit the repeat button. Well well done Fratellis 👍 Excellent cover 👍❤️👍❤️👍
Repeat x10
Spot on there mate. Makes me smile when watching this.
Been listening to the fratellis for years. A criminally underrated band if you ask me.🙂
100😆👆🤩
OK I've just watched this about 10 times on repeat.
Jesus what a banger!
Saw the Fratellis live perform this the other night, complete with Wild Tonics and brass, brilliant!
Internet, find me something more uplifting than this in 2021! More of this please👍🏻
I am SO addicted to this track... heard it o Chris Evans a few weeks ago and now play it loud on repeat over and over - driving my family nuts but its just so uplifting, you have to dance and move to this... simply wonderful - thank you Fratelli's
Me too. It's addictive.
Outstanding cover. 🏴🏴🏴 👍👍
Class, pure class.👏🏻👏🏻
Wow!! Jon’s vocals just get better & better! I hope they play this at Victorious this summer. xxx
New contender for best RUclips video ever! That voice
I keep coming baack to this... bloody love it!
this video presentation/song version must be preserved to the future like the gold disk that is in the Voyager space ship in space...
What the heck would make 7 people give a thumbs down....this is absolutely bl**dy fantastic....vocals (and all performances actually) are spot on...Maria and Mayte would definitely approve :)
Maria actually does not approve. She said "It is not my cup of tea. I do not like it."
@@moss1873 wtf is Maria?
@@moss1873 Well she must be mad :) ....its miles better than the original
@@DJBiscuit She is half of the Spanish duo Baccara who had the original hit with it in 1977...I remember it well.
How could the original duo not like this! I'd feel honored if I were them. Wtf really.
Good luck Scotland! 🏴 You CAN boogie!!
Mon the Scotland
@@Autst here's hoping so on Friday.
The best cover version I've heard in a long time.
😂😂😂
Ridiculous, amazing, unbelievable and awesome all at the same time!
Should never have worked! Fabulous, very very clever.
In 1977, when I was 17, I went on a cycling tour round Belgium, Germany and Holland with three friends.
We kept hearing Yessir I can Boogie by Baccara in the youth hostels, it wasn't released in the UK yet. One of my friends' Dad was a publican and my friend's job was to ensure that the pub juke box was kept up to date. He decided he wanted this single for it.
We came to the last day of our tour and he still hadn't bought it. That evening we were catching the ferry back from Rotterdam to Hull and our ferry ticket included dinner. Between us we had 6 guilders left, that was enough for a frugal lunch for the four of us or for my friend to buy the record. Let's just say, we went hungry that day.
One of my friends just sent me a link to this cover version. I was all ready to go back to him saying, it's rubbish, not a patch on the original. And then I watched it. It's very good indeed.
Did ye aye?
What a wonderful memory!! Thanks for sharing it.
@@rossobrien4015 Appen we did!
@@Viclnl Thanks for your comment.
Hi from The Netherlands!
Wow, every now and then a cover version comes along that is better than the original, this is one of those times, excellent version 👏👏👏👏
This is an incredible rendition of an absolute banger. Classy. And those backing singers.....
Love this. Panama hat and shades, lends a wonderful air of louche.
He Always wears his Panama hat. BRILLIANT!! As always.
Hands up for the horn section.
Can't beat a bit of the horn.

Best cover song for a long long time, just outstanding, tune of the summer 👌👌
This deserves to be a massive hit...
It was in the 70s
I don’t know how or why this appeared in my recommendations, but thank god it did, I can’t stop watching it. This is bloody fantastic.
Mon the boogie, Mon Scotland, Mon the Fratellis!! Brilliant cover.
Back again , can;t get tired of watching this
i watch it once a night and twice on saturday!
Heard this whilst in the powrer booth at work .( with ileagal head phones on) was a tripping show..I was singin' all mornin'.. !! top class all !!!
Genius.
Only in the world of Jon Fratelli.
Utterly jaw dropping!
This is genuinely much better than the original
Are you joking, the original alluded to sex in a humorous way. And the string arrangements in the original are a big part of the song. This just sounds generic.
@@dennislindqvist8443 yeah this one is good but the original just screams 70s in all the best ways that this cover doesn’t even come close to matching
They are both top notch!!
I remember hearing this in euro vision when I was a kid, never expected to be hearing it decades later.
How cool do they look, dressed in suites 👍
what a superb cover version and a terrific all round performance. the glance and smile from the middle backing singer at 39 seconds to the girl to the right is a defining moment in you tube viewing history . trust me on this.
Excellent, brilliant and watchable over and over again.
The middle backing singer is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen

Yes Sir!!!! This is sooo f**king cool!
This is one of the most catchy disco pop songs ever penned....I was a youthful punk rocker when I first heard this and I loved it😮 I still do and I'm 62 next month 😊
I discovered this song last weekend in a bar in Montréal. I will keep it dearly with me until I am 62 for sure too! (Well that's in 20 years haha)
Bro I'm just 53 and I know exactly what you mean..
I’m pure obsessed with this!
Love this and the Wild Tonics make it even better.
Better than the original, better than their studio release. The virgin Radio version is easily the best version out of all the others.
Brilliant😀
Amazing 👏 love to see it live.
