My best friend became one of Alan's early apprentices at UCSC. Through him, I found my purpose. I dug a lot of double-dug several gardens. I developed a retail store that sold "Chadwick" English tools. Later on, I became a consultant specializing in developing organic fertilizers from seafood by-products for gardens and farms.

I was at Merrill College from 74-77… the gardens and farm were my life and love…lucky me to be there in those post Chadwick years when the farm was forming, the terraced garden at Merrill was so romantic and inspiring…and I turned my studies as a cultural anthropologist into the gardener I am..✌️

I was blessed to be able to work in the garden while I attended Merrill back in the late 60's . To put it mildly what I learned in that garden had more of an impact on my life than the degree I earned. I am still a gardener.
