UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Innovation Impact Awards: 2023 Innovator of the Year Award
The Homeless Garden Project was developed to help people build their own path out of homelessness. The project provides job training, transitional employment, and support services. Through the training program, participants build job-ready skills, confidence, and a sense of mastery and go on to find employment in farming, social services, retail, and trades. They also move from homelessness to having their own homes. The Homeless Garden Program received the 2023 Community Changemaker Award, part of the UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Innovation Impact Award Program.
