Its nice to listen to someone with the experience and knowledge, rather than a bunch of wanna be u tube stars. Especially the ones shooting small bucks! I fast forward through just about everyone, except the big buck serial killer.

One element that may affect the size and number of bucks in the area is the two-buck limit. If that were to change, more bucks could reach a higher age class and be available the following year.

Postseason scouting gives you a bunch of potential options. Pre-season and in-season scouting kills deer. Most of my areas that looked phenomenal postseason have been total duds, or haven’t heated up yet. I’m convinced you need to have a different spot for every 10 days of the season.

This is the model for every whitetail hunting channel - the grind is real and no you just can’t go out and harvest deer like it is a stocked trout pond. It also makes people aware that Dan has been gracious with his channel to the point that there is no such thing as a secret spot for him anymore. New hunters also need to understand the delayed gratification involved. When you DO succeed though - it makes it all the more sweeter!

My standards are low and would be happy with a 2 year old. It’s challenging hunting the wind and without bait. Reading sign, thermals, and bedding when no ag is close. Dan gives me hope to keep on trying. I’ll get there. The beast stand and sticks sure make setting up and tearing down easy. First season using it and it’s awesome

Bucks have many bedding areas. We have learned that there are peak time frames when these bucks bed in certain spots. Factors like proximity to food or does or water, and timing of cover or timing of events like pheasant hunting opener, or rut, or a drought, or flooding, or crop rotation, etc. all have an impact. When we scout and hunt these bedding areas timing is key.
