If you go to the Dead Sea do not miss visiting Masada! It's like going to Rome without seeing the Coliseum. It's about a 2 hour hike to the top of the fortress or you can take a cable car. It was King Herod's summer palace which the Jews turned into a fortress against the Romans. Great views from there too.

I'm a Japanese, I visited Israel in 2017. Extremely weird experience. Supposedly a holy place but the atmosphere is always tensed. Not the best country if you are a free spirited traveler.

Did that trip on my own last year without any problem. You can take the bus to Bethlehem just outside the Damascus Gate. The security situation might have changed since then though.
Went to Israel last year for the first time. Loved it. Next time take the train to TLV, faster and more efficient.
