I done this one on Monday. The route down from Grey Crags was poor, even in sunny weather. It does look well walked though. It really must have been awful in the snow. Missing the regular Wainwright vlogs- they were always a good watch.
Nightmare of a route mate, would defiantly avoid in any sort of bad weather if I was to go again, I'm thinking of getting into bagging all the Welsh mountains at some point soon so keep an eye out 😎
Recently discovered your channel Matt. Great videos! Very inspirational having only just started the Wainwright's earlier in 2021. Take care and keep up the great work.
We had a very similar experience on this walk in November last year, storm Arwen weekend! Were following the Marshall routes. Come unstuck several times but the end of this walk was a nightmare! Keep videos coming Matt, they're brilliant mate. Always watch em before our trips. Really helpful. Done 15 of SM routes so far. Currently on 81/214. Take care pal
I remember that sounds Storm Arwen mate, crazy weather, to be fair mate it was a bad decision by me to pick that route in the middle of winter, sounded easier on paper and as you say the end of the walk isn't great, I think I've got around 80 Wainwrights remaining. Thanks for watching pal I really appreciate the support 👌👍
@@MattDoesMountains yeah on paper thought it was one of the tame routes! We struggled down the hill to parking spot with ice. Wa worried i wouldn't get back up the road. We went over the footbridge in your vid and turned right dropping down near the waterfalls. Marshalls route stayed to right of the beck but couldn't see a path! Back on the lane just as light went! Were doing Newlands Watershed next. A long one looking at your video. Take it easy 👍
Im assuming your using the wainwrights in 36 walks website as ive noticed we have been doing the same walks: swindale round, greater fairfield horseshoe, trout beck meledy... and if i was to guess you will be planning to do the greater kirkmere horseshoe next
I've just got back from doing the St John's Vale Skyline today. I've been doing the shorter ones as at the moment as it's going dark early. How did you find the swindale.round mate?, What type of weather did you do it in?
@@MattDoesMountains I did it at the end of october was dry but ended up with wet feet still... all the ones in the far east seem bogy on the top i've noticed. The recent frost has made it decent for keeping feet dry for a change. Did the greater fairfield horse shoe today using your video for refrence... good content apprechiate the effort
@@jontom7787 I done the St John's Vale Skyline on Sunday mate, absolutely sick, weather was unreal. Loved the Fairfield horseshoe, brilliant walk What one are you doing next?
hello mate , fellow scouser here, watched a few of your videos. I like the way you go about your hikes. I'm proper new to hiking/wild-camping seeing your videos along with a couple of other youtubers I've got the bug quite bad.ive got all 4 season gear and plan to head to the lakes Christmas day, could you suggest a sensible place I could go . your advice would be most welcomed. thanks for the videos . I hope you and dom have a wonderful Christmas.all the best bro.
Hi Marty, thank you mate I appreciate it. A really easy but class wild camp ide suggest is Hallin Fell, it's literally 15/20 minute walk up from where you park at St Peter's Church - Martindale, views up there are fantastic. I've done a video of it on my channel. If you're looking at something longer Angle Tarn is great, takes about 1.5hours from the car. Not too hard if you don't carry loads. Merry Christmas mate, I really hope you and your family have a nice time 👍
@@MattDoesMountains nice one bro, that looks cool, especially when you said you can take a more with you because parking so close , that's cool.you had a fire in video , did you take the wood with you.
@@martyl425 we just took fire logs, they sell them cheap in home bargains, they make it easier to light a fire. Also mate check the weather on MWIS before you go 👍👍

Thanks a lot Paul, good stuff mate, one of the best things I ever got into over my lifetime, can't wait to get back out in the mountains myself 👌👌

Bro I used to walk with a guy called Paul Davies a few years back, may be the same guy
Find out lad, I literally follow all his routes 😂😂 I would like to go for a walk with him
@@MattDoesMountains he was a nutter tbh if it was the same guy, had to block him, probably a different fella 😂
