Deus Ex: Gunther Vs Paul - A DX Fan Film
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 янв 2022
- Created several years ago and uploaded onto the Machinima RUclips Channel before they shutdown, this is a short animated fan film based upon the videogame Deus Ex created back in 2000, but now uploaded here in glorious HD!
JCDenton and Paul Denton both arrive back in their apartment only to be ambushed by Unatco troops and Agent Gunther Hermann intent on arresting the two brothers, however Paul decides to sacrifice himself and takes on the towering Gunther by himself.
All created by myself, music created by Scott Morgan, and several voice actors listed in the credits. Кино
I love the small details given to characters, like how even Gunther feels a spark of sympathy once he sees how badly Paul is suffering from his Kill Switch
And the legendary 6 cans of soda in his cupboard
Also the little detail of JC's eyes showing blue at 0:57. As if he's raring to go. Really, give this guy a studio and a team to put an animation for the game together. It deserves it. I'm hoping he finishes up the JC vs Navarre piece some day.
@@andrewfernie3528 Isn't there a JC vs Anna video?
Never mind, it's not complete.
Paraphrasing a legendary comment:
Now do the canon version: Paul kills all the UNATCO troops and MIBs while JC hides in the closet eating soy food.
That’s what I did.
If you do that he doesn’t live later in the game. You can save him by simply sunning out and getting killed first or killing all 15-20 units outside the room before paul runs out
To save Paul, you need to exit Ton Hotel through the front door. Once you step out of the window, Paul is dead.
no even better, jc immediately shoots a LAW or GEP gun missile at his feet and blows himself up as soon as he finishes speaking to paul which for some reason makes paul live
I like that the bathrooms are looking exactly as strange as in the game. You nailed the subtle dreamlike oddity of proportions, lighting and texture limitations of Unreal Engine 1 games of that era. I LOVE it!
I love how Paul is using Martial Arts, he probably learned it from his time in Hong Kong.
It was a pleasure to voice J.C. for this video so many years ago. 💪😎🤟 I'd happily do a lot more V.O. work of the character, but until then, I actually made a pretty killer cosplay of Denton (on my own channel here), including the glowing glasses, working Dragon Sword prop, and a fun futuristic-looking gun.
"Bravery is not a function of firepower." --JCD
🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
so it's you, cool
wanted to see the cosplay but couldnt suffer through all the overwhelmingly reddit vids. absolutely blows my mind how people will consume whatever is on put on their plate
Easy up on the emojis bro.
"Bravery is not a function of firepower." --JCD, that's my favorite line!!!
Can you link your denton video I have been looking for like 15 minutes. Thanks
Someone needs to bring Deus Ex the animated series
That would be so cool
I really enjoyed this fan made animated video. Imagine how great a full fledged Deus Ex animated series would be and for the love of God please no live action.
After seeing the art for System Rift, I need it
this is ludicrously cool even with the deviations from the game, how edgy it is and the weird artstyle, thanks
Leo's "long arms" always made me smile, for whatever reasons! 😁
Edgy?
@@brunodimaggio9946 thats what socialists call things now when they feel uncomfortable
"How edgy it is" you sound like a zoomer teenager who treats any hint of seriousness as if it's something surreal. because he's used to having an awkward anticlimactic joke in the dialouge every 2 minutes, just like they do in marvel movies.
"edgy" give me a a break...
Honestly this art style works very well
I haven't seen this Deus Ex fan film in years. Good on you for showing how Paul Denton suffered from the killswitch that caused him pain whereas the original game had him stuck to a chair with no visible signs whatsoever. At least we fans got to see him fight Gunther Hermann personally.
There were a lot of limitations back in 2000, but Ion Storm ended up making one of the best games of the century. To this day, I'd argue that Deus Ex *still* rivals pretty much any game of its style. Not even its sequels were really all that great (which may have been thanks to the key vocal performances of Jay and the others on DX1).
I would definitely do the V.O. for J.C. Denton again and again if I was given secondary and tertiary opportunities. 💪😎✌️
@@Novastar.SaberCombat Greetings. So you voiced JC Denton in this fan film? If so, thanks for your performance. Wonder if you'll do JC's memetic lip smacks in the future.
I agree that Deus Ex is still top-notch. The story is more relevant nowadays due to current events. Invisible War, too, actually. Now that the franchise belongs to a different company, fingers crossed that remakes for the first two Deus Ex games will happen ... in a few years.
Old games like that require some imagination post watching. Creator very definitely imagined the setting and storyboard in congruence with the conventional game, I'm really impressed 👌
@@smash8865 I once tried to write a Deus Ex fanfic, but I can never come close to matching the fan film's decent quality and the attention to continuity with the first game.
@@Novastar.SaberCombatOh man, they didn't use a Yamaha Dx1 to compose the soundtrack.
Is this me or does this style remind me of Tron: Uprising?
And if so, I'll be frank here: That style suits Deus Ex amazingly for its sci-fi setting, mixed in with the Cyberpunk atmosphere. You have definitely nailed those aspects.
Two words would have prevented all of this.
Laputan Machine.
Man, what a horrible end for such a legendary series.
Damn, why I have found this masterpiece just right now but not earlier! Thanks for great animation of my favourite game!
Those iconic orange sodas on top of the cupboards bring back so many memories !
King! Glad you decided to release this legendary animation in HD. This is a treat.
What!! This is unbelievably great! It's what I would imagine if Deus Ex was ever adapted into a movie, they would definitely have Paul fight in a cinematic fashion, along with some changes to what originally happened; dramatize things more. And I can totally imagine Gunther interacting with the MiB like that, it felt like it was actually a dialogue from the game.
Impressive, very nice! I hope there was more fan-made content of the first Deus Ex. By the way, Gunther's voice is perfect.
Reminds me of the 90s Ghost in The Shell movie.
hell yeah
Just discovered this video. This is awsome, definetly a work from someome who played and liked the original game. Attention to detail created just the correct atmosphere like Paul's apartment, illumination, music, the agents, voice acting, everything. This could be a very good animated adaptation, respect and greets to you.
Glad you brought this classic back and restored it in HD
A real JC would fight his way out, taking down everybody and show them who's the boss. :D
This is so insanely well made.
“YOUR BODY HAS BETRAYED YOUR DEGENERACY”
I can't believe Gunther almost lost his skool gun.
I remember seeing this 10 years ago.
This isn't cannon, but it's still fairly amazing.
It's cannon if Paul dies.
@@jangelelcangry He lives in the sequel.
@@J--12 Sorry. I meant a valid path. If you leave Paul alone instead of killing the agents he'll be dead on MJ12's lab. BTW I got a save file that Paul is not on the Hotel after I broadcast the signal. If I fight the guards they can't die and I'll die if my life is depleted instead of being captured.
@@jangelelcangry If player leaves hotel trough main doors instead of apartment window then Paul survives in the story and that is considered cannon, though it doesn't affect the game all that much.
canon*
3:05 "Why are you locked in the bathroom?"
4:44 JC looking like Postal Dude.
This is amazing! I cant imagine how many animations of similar quality being lost due to not getting archived or being a niche site.
You truly made the nano machine technology breaking down terrifying, seizure like and disturbing looking.
Masterful animated film, I always wish there could've been a feature length one.
feels pretty strange to see the machinima logo in mid 2023
Yep, people respond to nostalgia.
This is a masterpiece.
Wow this is incredible !!!
gunther voice is 100% on point!
This style really captures the tone of the game
This was amazing!!
That was really well made!
I remember discovering that you can save Paul and it changed the dialogue a little with maggie. Also he tells you at the end on what to do which was cool
I really love this animation, although never EVER I would leave Paul behind to escape.
Not in a million years.
Still an absolute masterpiece! I wish we had a Deus Ex animated series
really dig the 20th century Akira and GITS comb
wow just wow holy crap this is good
I remember watching this several years ago, so why is this say posted a year ago?
This is sick, can't believe there aren't more views
Thanks for reuploading, these are legendary.
hey, this is really good
This is absolutely phenomenal, not sure how I only stumbled upon this thanks to the RUclips algorithm. it should be seen everywhere
This is simply amazing dude. I saw your other Deus Ex animation and thought that's all you did with the series, Nope! Love the atmosphere and intense action.
Well this is really cool
man this reminded me so much of that era where cgi animation was on a experimental route what can I say besides well done! so freaking cool!!!
There needs to be a whole season of this
Exactly
they missed the part where JC hid behind the bookshelf for a solid 4 minutes while Paul killed everyone
Leo, you magnificent genius! 😃 this video never gets old 😍
This is so cool!!
Deus Ex (the original) would work very well as an animated series, or a 3 hour film with this style.
wow, had to rewatch a couple scenes. This is awesome.
Awesome animation. I could see this being in a movie.
Absolutely Kino
Great work, but...what's with the arms ?
This is an absolute masterpiece.
I so much prefer the look of original Deus Ex to HR, hopefully we will get an official remake someday
SO EPIC !!!!! Masterpiece, wee need more
The way this was directed is absolutely stunning. Staging of the scenes is professional. But model's body proportions gone insane...
Anyway, this is a masterpiece, considering the visual part was made by 1 person.
The art style and the way things were animated was so good.
This is extremely well done. Awesome work.
Epic, absolutely amazing!
this rocks dude nicely done. thanks for reuploading.
@ 4:27 all I hear is: DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THIS OPERATION!
this is cool! great animation. and I love the music.
Would love to see a JC Denton vs Walton Simmons fight from you. But I suppose it's long past the time to ask for one
the music from 1:28 onwards has been stuck in my head for as long as i can remember haha
What programs did you use to make this?
Who was this done by? It's ridiculously high quality.
This was my edgerunners
INCREDIBLE!!!!! I fought my way out in the front door though, like any good brother would. HOORAH!
Goes without saying. This is really well done.
Congrats, I love the original Deus Ex, this part was so special the first, the second, and every time I replay the game. The esence es just a little bit different, but is SO GREAT!
was legit confused for a second when the machinima logo popped up
Well done!
Man this is veeeeery nostalgic
There’s so much humanity in all the characters.
Fantastic job.
This is so cool! If it was a show id binge it!
How awesome an entire movie like this would be
Wow, do we need a full length feature film of this.
шикарно
That machima logo is kinda nostalgic
Machinima huh... Now that takes me back
The animator never saw hands on a real person.
More people need to watch this
Excellent.
looks pretty good
good thinking you named your channel just like author in the credits xD
it will be harder to take it down now
Cheers! Good thing my parents named me the same as the author too, right....🤣
looks sick
not a fan of deus ex but man thanks this is what im into wish more tubers would make stuff like this!
How could you NOT be a fan?
Definitely would watch if it was series!
As a fan of things like say Ghost in the Shell, and Deus ex of course. I'd love if this was a full series on tv
wow scot morgan.
Bellisimoooo
Great shit
Theese are so awesome
