I used to sculpt in my 20s. But never could do anything with the end result so I threw them away. Most studios taught pottery so I never developed this talent. I eventually gave up. That was almost 30 yrs ago. Watching your videos, I see resolutions for all my previous barriers. I’m excited to start up again. I will definitely check out your website and courses.
you definitely should! sculpting is difficult and takes time to learn but I think most people would be surprised how fast they can improve with good instruction and focusing on the right things when developing the sculpture. My grandma always gave the excuse that she couldn't do art because one of her kids swallowed a paint tube when he was little. Her youngest moved out over 50 years ago. She's 95 and still hasn't gotten back into it and deeply regrets it. Creative people have to make time for creativity or else the time just passes and we wish we would have done more.
hi and thank you for the amazing content. based on your experience can you please tell me what is the most light weight sculpture medium? joint compound is very heavy so i am looking for the most light weight alternative while i want to keep that outer matt effect that joint compound or putty give. can you please guide me? much appreciate it. thx@@AndrewJosephKeith
Hebel is an alternative. It's aerated cement blocks. It's ver soft you can saw it, rasp it, even scrape off layers with a spoon. Another thing to mention is that you can sculpt in say oil based clay then cast it in something else, and you can cast it hollow to make it have a far lighter weight. You can even do it in fibreglass.
A lovely piece. Lovely figure, and the birds are great too. Chickens are surprisingly unique looking creatures which we sometimes lose appreciation for because of their “ordinariness”.
Brilliant ! The moment I saw the sculpture. Such a perfect piece that says everything about it. A well presented demonstrated video, (as all your videos are). I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done. Robert (UK)
it's just some black sheets I got from Walmart ($20) and some hardware from the dollar tree to hang them up on some curtain hangers I mounted in my studio space. Then I use some cheap soft boxes that I got for $100 on eBay for the lighting setup.
Hi thx for a great video.....just wondering , when do we need to remove armature before firing it....seems like you fired it with armature inside still?
This was a commissioned sculpture. For a unique original sculpture that price isn’t unreasonable. Also in a gallery setting that price is not that high (depending on the gallery)
@@amitspecially for this I just use the gray clay. Yeah my email list was through a website I’ve since left but if you’d like to be added you can message me on Instagram @andrewjosephkeith15

Can you Andrew please, do 1 video tutorial on the proportions of a human foot and how you make it out of clay? Thank you.
@@vanderasss I’ll try to remember to add that to the list of upcoming videos! Like the hands the feet can be tricky but expressive and fun to sculpt.
Great video. Very impressive sculpture.
Thanks!

Thanks! I'll have another polymer clay sculpting video coming out today!
Could you tell me the benefit of the e poxy
It’s just a really strong adhesive that I already had available.
Hi thx for a great video.....just wondering , when do we need to remove armature before firing it....seems like you fired it with armature inside still?
This clay (polymer clay) can be baked in a normal oven and can be baked with the armature inside. ceramic clays cannot be baked with armatures inside.
Thank you so much x
We’re can you sell it for 1,000 !?

very nice video, not sure why it doesn't have more views!
Thanks! You and me both! Haha
is this finished?
How long can this clay sit before it hardens?
It never hardens just gets dusty and less elastic
@@edisonfirmin3319 after how long does it become less elastic
@@Jacob0481 in my experience it takes months
How big is the sculpture?
This one was about 12 inches tall or 30cm
Please use a glove and masks when using epoxy

$950 of labour.
Probably more like $200 for the labor and $750 for the years it took to gain the expertise to be able to do it in a number of hours.
@@AndrewJosephKeith Oho! You make an interesting point, sir!
you sculpt some old dude and some chickens and charge 1k. that's absurd. this why I make my own stuff. anyone can learn art.

Amazing! As well a nice idea. I envy your ability to sculpt in this size. Im no good in smal figures. Great job!!! ✨🪄
