Triple H for me will go down as one of the greatest heels of all time and I have a lot of respect for the top work he's done with NXT in the development system and building up new talent for the main roster.
The only issue I have had with his career and its not actually him being married to Stephanie Mcmahon, I feel that most of his run, he has always been a member / leader of a stable and has never truly got over on his own unlike Stone Cold, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle or Undertaker who got over due to their in ring talent or character.
Aside from burying careers and murdering guy's pushes, he helped make Randy Orton and Batista into big stars with Evolution.
Time will tell what kind of shape wwe will be in the future as a company but if he takes over in Vince Mcmahon's role then hopefully we will see more good than bad. Congratulations to Triple H for 25 years in wwe.

    In no particular order:
vs. Cactus Jack: No Holds Barred, Royal Rumble 2000 and Hell in A Cell, No Way Out 2000
vs. The Rock: Ladder Match, Summerslam 1998, Backlash 2000. I'm not the biggest fan of their Iron Man match from Judgment Day 2000, but I respect anyone who can go for an hour.
vs. Stone Cold, 3 Stages of Hell, No Way Out 2001
Vs. Undertaker, Wrestlemanias 17, 27, and 28 (I think all three were great).
vs. Shawn Michaels... too many matches to list.
vs. Shawn Michaels and Sirhc Tioneb, Wrestlemania 20.
Hell in a Cell vs. Jericho, 2002 (Judgment Day?)
Hell in a Cell vs. Batista, 2005
    ____
Then there are some matches that are under the radar that were good.
He had a WWF Title defense on Raw in 2000 against Taka Michinoku that I thought was excellent.

I don't know if Triple H would have the amount of power if he didn't marry Steph but he was attending production meetings before he even came close to dating Steph. He's way too good of a politician backstage to just be an agent or producer though. He'd definitely be involved in creative. I also don't think Vince would've approved Steph marrying just any wrestler. Triple H's ambition and mind for the business if anything is one of the reason's he didn't mind.
Also, it should be pointed out Triple H has way more say in the company than Vince's own son. Shane Mcmahon tried to make WCW and ECW his own, there's many reports of Shane being turned down for all his ideas for those brands when they acquired them. Yet, Triple H was able to convince Vince to build NXT which if anything probably saved the company. Also, Triple H's eye for talent and sway has rebuilt the company from the John Laurinaitis years.
Did marrying Steph help? Absolutely. But as Savage said, the cream rises to the top and Triple H's track record would probably indicate he'd eventually end up where he is.

He’s one of my all-time favorites and I don’t care that it’s cool to hate the guy. Yes I agree he should not have beat Sting and Booker T but I’m not gonna hold that against him because he’s lost every other wrestlemania match besides those two and it wasn’t really his call that’s Vince just burying WCW guys because he’s an asshole. That being said my favorite time in his career was 1997 through 2002. I absolutely loved his ladder match with the rock at summer slam 1998. It was when they were both on the rise and they were both just under Steve Austin and it was before either one of them had been a world champion. I’m not saying it was as good as Shawn Michaels versus Scott Hall at wrestlemania 10 but it’s a match I quite enjoyed.

Honorary mention for fav HHH matches: A street fight between the Nation and DX on Raw many years ago. Cant remember the exact date, and it included a lot of other ppl, but it was still a classic, and something I remember to this day even though I havent seen it in forever. I remember Trips getting brutalized with a ladder by the Rock, and the rest of DX taking a serious beating. If I recall correctly, Jeff Jarret and maybe the Godwins (or somebody else under a different gimmick came out attacked DX). WWE was so damn good back then!!!

I never felt like hhh was being racist like some people claim. I don’t think Booker T had to win but he probably should have I remember rooting for booker t though so HHH did his job as a heel. At the end of the day it’s Vince that says who goes over and that 20sec pin was ridiculous for sure but to give them the benefit of the doubt I would think that hhh thought he was making Booker t look strong by hurting hhh so bad he had to crawl over just to make the pin but yeah it was a bad call lol

@@KingOfWinter I have the same view of analysis. The feud was more about class than race. But the way it was crafted could sway before sensing race to interpret it that way. I too view the slow cover as him underestimating BT's will and effort to rise to the occasion on the big stage.
As an HHH mark, I loved the win. Also because it was different. Sometimes in life, the good guys DON'T win. No matter how hard they try, or how deserving they may be, sometimes they can't catch a break to get over the hump. Is it messed up? Sure. But is it realistic? Absolutely. Bad things do happen to good people though.
Had Vince booked it the easy, squeaky clean way with BT going over, I could accept it. But the predictability would make me go meh.

Speedyreedy1218 yeah I’m a huge HHH fan as well. When I was a kid everyone loved the rock or stone cold but I always backed hunter lol and I was a fat kid and when hhh released his book it helped me lose weight and get in shape and I always appreciate what hhh did for the business and never really understood the hate he gets. I even loved the “reign of terror” and personally feel it was the best heel championship run of all time. How bad he wanted the title made it seem important and it was that prize fighter mentality I wanted Kevin Owens to be like when he first came to raw. I agree that the good guy shouldn’t always win and I think Daniel Bryan should’ve beat Kofi at wrestlemania but I feel like if you say that people will call you racist when it has nothing to do with race. Thanks for the reply. Do you have a match you think HHH should’ve lost though? Even I didn’t think hhh should’ve beat Kane for his mask and maybe the raw when Jericho won the title the first time shouldn’t have been overturned but other than that I don’t mind his wins lol

@@KingOfWinter I am nodding with cheer for 90% of what you said. I too got his book and began working out once I read it. A real game changer, pun intended. 🤘🤘🤘
I too loved the supposed 'reign of terror.' I think most fans crapped on it simply because they weren't used to a brand being built around the top heel like the NWA would. They were used to it being built around faces. The same way they were annoyed with HHH being champ, that's how I felt when Austin was champ in 98/99, and Rock in 2000. I was bored and checked out. I got amped up and rooted against them, especially when HHH was the one getting under the skin and ruining their days. 😁😁😁
Some people like to say HHH was best 99-01 and got stale 02-06. I disagree. People sleep on that run. His heel work just evolved. He showed more layers. 99-01 was this this intense, rebellious, plotting asskicker. 02-06 he became an arrogant, mob boss type wanting an entire empire (hence Evolution with all the titles). But at his core, he was still his manipulative, intelligent, calculating, aggressive, psychotic self obsessed with the title. That was his motivation 24/7. Not his wife. Not friendships. Not factions. The title above everything at the end of the day. He was always that way. That's a master class of character work. He'll always be a GOAT and in my Mt Rushmore.
I did think he should have beat Kane. I compare it to him beating SCSA at NWO 01. He based that match on beating Austin, the man, and breaking his spirit. Similarly with Kane, he took the IC title, and by being the 1st and last person to remove the mask, took his pride, and identity. I loved all the heat HHH got from it. 😈😈😈
As far as there being any match I think he should have lost that he won? I'd say WM 16. I say that because I think it should have been him vs Rock one on one. Since they did a four way, they could have beat HHH. It would give him even more reason to be pissed off because he got screwed not only for the title, but at the biggest show of the year. It would provide extra steam for his eventual rematch vs Rock at Backlash. But, I can't complain because our dude got the W anyway and survived the fatal four way. 😎😎😎

I have to disagree. I knew triple H was a top star when he first emerged as Hunter Hearst Helsmsley. Then it all made sense, when he got jacked up and went head to head with the Rock

I agree with the fact that Triple H is often made out to be a big star in the WWE only because of him being married to Stephanie McMahon. It's also the same reason why he gets the opportunities to book himself as the World Champion or only push the wrestlers he wants to succeed so that he can take credit for it. Sure Hunter was wrestling in the WWE longer than he's been with Stephanie, but him being a member of the family is what kept him there.

I get what your saying but I disagree. HHH was a huge part of the Attitude Era in that era the mid card was exciting and HHH's rise from DX was entertaining to say the least. I think HHH carried the company for a time after Rock and Austin left and I don't think a lack of talent is HHH's fault nor the companies. You can only do so much but ultimately it's up to the talent to get themselves over and if talent stands out enough they will succeed the cream rises to the top. Mankind is a good example an underdog that couldn't wrestle for crap but his performance was enough to win the sympathy of the crowd. Sure HHH had some influence but Vince always trumped him. I just haven't seen any talent that has been even remotely interesting compared to the attitude era and some of aggression era which is when I stopped watching. I think HHH put the work in and remained one of the most loyal workers in the WWE to this day. Also HHH was in production meetings before he touched Stephanie because he was interested in the business as a whole. My mountain would have Austin, Rock, HHH, Angle and an honourable mention to Mankind and the biggest heel in the company Vince McMahon himself.

Ah yes, Triple H. The game, the man whose entire career is proof positive that nepotism is bad. The dude had talent, to be sure, but he was at best a upper mid carder/transitional champion/heel. His success is owed more to him sucking up to Vince (being in production meetings even before he was with Stephanie), and of course his dating/marriage to Stephanie.
In a way, it is sad, because he has done legitimate things, but it was will be ruined by the fact he slept his way to the top. Also, other things that won't be mention.
    1) He was never on level of The Rock and Stone Cold,
    2) He was flop as a babyface in 2002
    3) His first title win resulted in a rating drop - which in turn caused Pat Patterson to recommend he lose the title to Vince (99, lead to the six pack challenge)
    4) Had little to nothing to do with the woman's revolutions (as it was guys like Finley who were training the girls/women to be better)
    5) Wasn't accepted as a main eventer until after Mick Foley selflessly put him over at the 2000 Royal Rumble.
    6) Can never get over unless he's part of a faction or has some sort of manger.
    7) Is not part of the attitude trinity (Stone Cold, The Rock, Mankind) or (Stone Cold, The Rock, Vince McMahon).
    8) Has never been the guy.
