Another award-worthy performance. Jackson was breathtaking at the end of this scene. He and Aaron are delivering some incredible performances throughout!
So many emotions watching this episode. It was funny seeing Aaron and Jackson escaping the hospital and having fun with Hazel at Bar West (her comment about pulling a lesbian was priceless!) Then later back at the hospital, seeing Aaron affectionately kiss Jackson on the forehead was sweet but then seeing Jackson break down and begging his mum to get him out of his broken body - he just looked so desperate and scared and Aaron and Hazel just felt helpless as they tried to reassure him. That final part was heartbreaking to watch.
i know this was 13 years ago but for some reason i'm just watching now, this is the best acting ive ever seen in a soap, i seriously cant believe how good they are. this is story is so heartbreaking
Love that bit where the nurse said he left giggling like a school boy. Tears would not stop flowing at the end though. I just wish... the writers had not made the situation permanent. That he’d gain feeling back eventually. I would have loved to see his eyes light up if he said one day, ‘Aaron... I can feel you touching my arm’ ... 😭😭
bwaaaaaahhhhh! OMG! That broke my heart! I was thinking right before Jackson's breakdown like wow how incredibly sweet! so wonderful! and then that warm and bubbly feeling l was having just turned into complete sadness my heart broke into a thousand and one pieces....poor Jackson and Aaron and Hazelit looked like they felt completely helpless not being able to help him! The acting was just incredible!
Actually emotional watching this storyline back. Was in bad car accident myself in 2012 and in wheelchair a few week after. Luckily nothing like Jackson but I can imagine how hard it must be for anyone to be told they will never walk again. Everyone just takes being able to walk for granted until something makes them realise not everyone can walk.
Wow heart touch, with the highs and the lows, smiles and frowns, crying and sobbing. This made me do all that, great acting and a brilliant storyline, unusual in a different way hence why it is working. THANKS :)
Jackson’s cry for help is so heartbreaking to watch... especially since it was the beginning of the end for his character. Loved Jackson and Aaron when they were together though.
Marc is doing an amazing job of really portraying the difficult journey a person in Jackson's position goes through. And I'm so glad to see Jackson and Aaron together again. It feels like an eternity since we've seen them happy together even if it was short lived. I just hope that Aaron and Hazel will both be able to the rock the Jackson needs right now.
This was so beautiful... and sad, frustrating, wonderful! These two, Danny and Marc, are doing an absolutely incredible job. Its so hard to watch but so great at the same time. I'm torn apart with emotions. Danny better be careful because after the past few weeks, he is so close to becoming dehydrated. I have never seen such acting before and he is really knocking it out of the park. I love it!
Well as tears are pouring down my face again I think that because I'm single I have have been hoping I can find someone to love and love me back. But I guess I have a lot to be thankful for as this episode has taught me that you can always help someone...........and love them too......
Ovs , I love Aaron and Robert . I love how Robert and Jackson are quite alike . But honestly loved these two together . I know it ends sad but it was beautiful
I've watched the "Great Escape" part of this ep over a dozen times - the humor and warmth is just so welcome and needed - but I can't bear to watch that final scene. Jackson's breakdown is so hard to watch. Marc Silcock is an amazing actor.
Wow. What an incredible, heart wrenching episode! For the first half I was thinking how great it was to see them smiling (Aaron looked so *happy*!) and then by the end of it I was in tears.... I'm really impressed by the way the writers are dealing with this storyling so well. It continues to be really moving and heartbreaking- absolutely amazing! Made me cry, but still amazing!
Omg!!! That few bits of the las scene really made my heart sink!!!! Danny Miller is just an outstanding actor!!! He can switch to teary mode like in a push of a button!!! GREAT ACTING SKILLS THERE. :)
Bravo writers and actors this is was really worth the wait. We have not seen the guys really happily interacting uintil recently and this was really well done. It is not predicatble - the acting is excellent and you can ride along without a break in the moods. Thanks
The show has not yet shown Jackson receiving physiotherapy but it has been mentioned several times that he was to start after he had the back surgery. I know here in Canada hospitals have in house counseling available to all patients, and it is routine for any patient after enduring life changing injury to receive some form of counseling to help them deal with their new reality. I'm sure it is probably the same there in England.
This episode did not make me sad, but hopeful. Yesterday I made a negative statement about something at work and my co-worker/friend, who has just lost her husband of 30 years to cancer, said, " see the positive." For that, I kissed her on the cheek and hugged her. There is positive in everything. It may not always be obvious but, if we look hard enough, it is there.
It was such a fun and good escape, and then it turned into a pity party, and I almost cried. :( If only he could be cured, like Luke was in As the World Turns. He was in a wheel chair and then he went throught rehab and walked again. I hope that's how this turns out, but I have my doubts. I know it's not supposed to be about him walking but about them sticking together through thick and thin, but I still really wish he could.
Each time I fear this story will dissolve into cheesy soap fare, I'm rewarded with a complex set of emotions from the clips that has me admiring the writers, and these actors' delivery every step of the way. From the smiling cheese of escaping the hospital, to the incredible uncomfortable moment on the street outside the bar, to the beautiful command and cut of Jackson with the jerk in the bar, and finally the breakdown scene, I'm left smiling and awed.
'Get me out!' that really broke me..I'm in tears, like a river of them! Being like this must feel so lonely and Jackson described it so well! Why on earth did that had to happen to him?? Real life is hard enough why don't we get at least some fairy dust on soaps....
@rosieloye I think he said "zero to 60 in six winks"...he was being sarcastic about the speed of the wheelchair, which is why Aaron said "depends on who's pushing it"
@sanyrub You said it Zombie's! We are so in Zombie land! I still haven't recovered don't know if I ever will!Lol! That was just incredible made me remeber why I fell in love with soaps in the first place! Unbelievable acting again!
I am speechless.....F--ing brilliant. Brilliant. It is just me or does Aaron seem more engaged now than he was before? I loved the scene in the hospital when they were going AWOL. I wished they had shown that British cabs are built to be accessible, pretty amazing. I wish we had more of em here in the States.
Aaron looks really good when he says "look I know what i'm doing and he finally admits that he wasn't happy when he's without Jackson!!" When I heard that, I was so happy for him. At least he has voiced out his feelings to Paddy this time:) And also, Jackson is brilliant tonight. Till the last minute of the video, his acting skills was amazing! He has completely blew me away but at the same time he is still suffering from all of this accident and it's hurting him! Really don't want to see that
@qweuio Karaoke scenes, in general, should be omitted from all television shows, in my experience. You don't want to break up the drama with hiding of eyes, dropping of jaws, and covering of ears in the television viewership. But who knows, maybe they are both exquisite singers....
Yet another roller coaster ride for me. I started out giggling when Aaron told Hazel and Paddy he and Jackson had sorted things out and he rubbed his arm at 0:55 after she gave him a couple of "love pats". LOL And then I was bummed we didn't get to hear their karaoke duet. And then I cried my eyes out when Jackson asked his Hazel to get him out of this broken body.
OMG - 10 legs a heaving - Lol. Smiles from Aaron and Jackson. And then the breakdown. It's about time it came. Now, they can move on to a better understanding of what love means. Cheers to Marc - AMAZING performance. And damnit, Danny - tell the man you love him - he needs to here it NOW more than ever.
Dude! This is just too painful to watch! The physical and emotional demands on these three ARE enormous. They are three broken souls tied together by their mutual pain and despair!
Oh and I almost forgot: finally we saw Aaron touching J´s face. It was absolutely cute. Aaron was adorable today. I love him more than ever and I hope it was enough for those of u who were desperate for that sign of affection. Like I said: this epi had it all!!! Hugs everybody
Marc Silcock and Danny Miller are the two best actors on any soap right now. Individually they are amazing, and together they are so entertaining. J: "I'm here in this" A: "I quite like you in that jumper" From comedy to that last scene which is so heart-wrenching it's almost unwatchable. My "favourite soap couple of the year award" goes to: Danny and Marc.
God, I knew that panic attack was comin... I wouldn't be able to handle it.. this show is so real, I don't know how the actors pull themselves out of it.
OMG I THINK I´M DEAD!!! If every episode of this storyline is intense this one is something else. Once again it had it all. We finally had good moments with Aaron and Jackson and then the final part...EPIC I just stopped breathing when Jackson totally lost it and Hazel and Aaron were absolutely helpless not being able to calm him down...incredible moment!! Seriously the world is fucked up if they don´t win at the NTA for which I voted more than 20 times...
for goodness sake emmerdale, why do u have to destroy such a beautiful story with a tragedy like this?? Shame on you writers! Jackson should be running around and having a good time!
@nightobeisance I know.. sometimes i wish i had some snappy combacks in my life too. Its all just too good for words what the writers are doing here :) those one liners of Hazel have me in stitches and Jackson are like DEAD BANG BANTER!
@melshorse Sad right? I don't mind drama, sadness etc. But if there is no way out of this situation, you feel kinda trapped, right? I mean we the audience, but also the character. I don't diss for one minute, not one second disabled people! I know someone who married a paraplegic guy. She met him when he was already in his high-tech chair. She got married to him. I mean wow! I mean bloody courageous! For both! I watch documentaries with interest, but in a series/soap....
TO ALL OF THE DOUBTERS-The first thing Hazel asked when she came into the hospital room was, "where is he, physio?" This leads me to believe jackson is getting the support he needs- they simply are not showing us those sessions. I think it is unrealistic to assume that the hospital is not doing everything possible to improve his quality of life.
What exactly is it that Jackson says at around 3.20? +I was welling up so much at the end of this episode- I feel so bad for Jackson. This is one fantastic storyline though.
I think Hazel and Bob would have been good together. It would have been much more appropriate than his relationship with Brenda. He was with her daughter, for god's sake. I wouldn't have minded so much if he hadn't deliberately busted up Gennie's relationship with his son.
I got to say this was a roller-coaster ride. It was poor joy seeing them together again and sneaking out but boy did the end part tear me up and break my heart to hear him plead and cry to his mum. Powerful stuff from the actors all around. My only critique would be that I think Aaron should have given a better kiss than a kiss on the forehead like Jackson's mom did.
@AnElephantsChild I'm choosing to see the whole thing. The breakdown at the end shows that Jackson needs a lot of support and help from Aaron & Hazel & others in his life and from professionals also (which we haven't seen & may not be happening on the psychological side) to achieve acceptance & stability in a healthy perspective. I see the strength & energy for him to do that coming from the part of him that you're choosing to focus on.
except for the heartbreaking ending, I loved this episode, they were all so funny, but I wish they had actually filmed them singing, would have loved to have heard that :)
Another award-worthy performance. Jackson was breathtaking at the end of this scene. He and Aaron are delivering some incredible performances throughout!
"..and i'm here in this!"
"i quite like you in that jumper"
aww, that was SO cute.

jackson is great...can hold my tears
having this play on the background while doing other stuff, and jackson just made me instantly cry, wow such a great actor
Aaron cries on a dime. He's so good at the single tear.
Wow! Brilliant!! Very moving. Thanks for posting.
Breaking out of the hospital lmao! Last scene tears flowing again.
I was an inch away from crying, wow, some great actors.
i know this was 13 years ago but for some reason i'm just watching now, this is the best acting ive ever seen in a soap, i seriously cant believe how good they are. this is story is so heartbreaking
My heart is now ripped out. Actually had to pause it to cry and then watch the rest.
I can't get enough of this storyline, I've watched the last two episodes over and over again,
Haha at Aaron and Jackson escaping the hospital
Love that bit where the nurse said he left giggling like a school boy. Tears would not stop flowing at the end though. I just wish... the writers had not made the situation permanent. That he’d gain feeling back eventually. I would have loved to see his eyes light up if he said one day, ‘Aaron... I can feel you touching my arm’ ... 😭😭
haha I loved the way Jackson said "GET ME OUTTA HERE" I don't know why though
bwaaaaaahhhhh! All I can say is WoW. That was so sad, the best acting ever.
OK, this episode just ripped me to shreds. AAAANNNDDD I really need a hug.
Wow heart touch, with the highs and the lows, smiles and frowns, crying and sobbing. This made me do all that, great acting and a brilliant storyline, unusual in a different way hence why it is working. THANKS :)
i love the connection between paddy and aaron, their relationship has come a really long way!! xx
I love the reaction Aaron made when the dj or announcer called for Hazel and Jackson "funny"
Jackson’s cry for help is so heartbreaking to watch... especially since it was the beginning of the end for his character. Loved Jackson and Aaron when they were together though.

Has anyone else noticed that ALL Aaron seems to eat is bread? Toast, sandwiches, etc and that is literally it! Haha!
OMG this so f**** sad and realistic !! :(
INCREDIBLE episode!!! I'm still crying.. I literally could feel the pain and anguish of Jackson..Marc Silcock is LEGEND.
I've watched the "Great Escape" part of this ep over a dozen times - the humor and warmth is just so welcome and needed - but I can't bear to watch that final scene. Jackson's breakdown is so hard to watch. Marc Silcock is an amazing actor.
Oh that bit at the end made me cry a bit
Just brilliant. Better than 90% of films and in a league of its own in terms of "soap" drama.
Made me cry, but still amazing!
the last scene break my heart
omg hw cute r aaron nd jackson in these scenes!!!
This story is amazing...and Hazel is brilliant.
It's great now YT allows to upload videos longer than 15min. I just noticed it this morning.
Thanks a lot Jon!
I don't usually get teary eyed but sheesh :(
Omg!!! That few bits of the las scene really made my heart sink!!!! Danny Miller is just an outstanding actor!!! He can switch to teary mode like in a push of a button!!! GREAT ACTING SKILLS THERE. :)

@tititata Thanks for the thoughtful response.
@rosieloye I think he said "zero to 60 in six winks"...he was being sarcastic about the speed of the wheelchair, which is why Aaron said "depends on who's pushing it"
aww!! aaron with his arm round the back of jackson's chair @ 9.05
Hazel makes me LOL.
"Might pull me a lesbian" LOL.
:')
Marc Silcock is an acting god. From comedy to absolute despair, he's amazing.
I love the way aaron slightly backs away from hazel... hilarious
wow! that ending was very sad. :(
oh my god....what such a sadness..T____T
@sanyrub You said it Zombie's! We are so in Zombie land! I still haven't recovered don't know if I ever will!Lol! That was just incredible made me remeber why I fell in love with soaps in the first place! Unbelievable acting again!

poor jackson
Omg when Aaron kissed Jackson on the forehead that was soooo cute! -3 but then the ending ruined it ;(
Marc Silcock and Danny Miller are the two best actors on any soap right now. Individually they are amazing, and together they are so entertaining.

Ah Jackson's tears broke my heart :(
@AnElephantsChild
Really would have loved to see them sing it...thanks for the info :)
I just love the actress who protrays, Jackson's mom. She makes the who soap for me.
God, I knew that panic attack was comin... I wouldn't be able to handle it.. this show is so real, I don't know how the actors pull themselves out of it.
Marc and Danny are amazing together!
@bradano You nailed it mate!
at 9:45 ten lords a'leaping, or ten lads a 'heaving lol
@AlanRM1000 I agree. But why would the writers go that hopeless, desperate road?
OMG I THINK I´M DEAD!!! If every episode of this storyline is intense this one is something else. Once again it had it all. Aarson are back :D Poor Jackson though :'(((( and Aaron looking so helpless!
oh fuck kill me now. I was on such a high and then the ending crushed me.

Lovin' the lines:
"No, I'm sorry 'cause at least it's just my arms and legs that don't work. Got to be a lot harder for you mate."
I think Hazel and Bob would have been good together. It would have been much more appropriate than his relationship with Brenda. He was with her daughter, for god's sake. I wouldn't have minded so much if he hadn't deliberately busted up Gennie's relationship with his son.

So proud of Aaron, because he seemed so proud of Jackson.
Jackson at the end- devastating- no other word.
I wonder what song Hazel and Jackson sang???
@AnElephantsChild I'm choosing to see the whole thing. holy crap! this story is not fooling around....emotional content, the perfomances, this is good drama.
except for the heartbreaking ending, I loved this episode, they were all so funny, but I wish they had actually filmed them singing, would have loved to have heard that :)
@frozenbaby2004 I cracked up when Hazel said "there will be 10 lads a heaving" too
God Bless Hazel, i would love my mum to be like that, would be awesome!!!!!
