Open the photos in Google photos & save to your drive ( google drive) .

Mine stayed in the same place in Google photos but we're now accessable from apps like Instagram and were added to my phones camera roll

probably a virus was downloaded and the filesystem of mobile is corrupted...better to format anf reinstall android in the phone
