I get the math. Not a problem because I sew.
GENIUS example. Explained perfectly. Brava to you. Thanks again.
Great information Maymay, thank you so much! You're a great teacher!
I've always been hopeless with numbers but I am very good at eyeballing something. My hubby has tried many times to explain measurements especially pertaining to the fractions and I've never gotten it. The way you explained it has made a light bulb go off in my head and I think finally I understand how it works. Thanks so much.
I used to be so good with fractions when I was younger and now that I’m 57, forget it. I totally feel you
me too!
Thank you MayMay for trying to reach back to us that are new to paper crafting and teaching us the beginner steps. I really needed this!
This was so helpful! Thank you, Maymay!!

You’re an excellent teacher Maymay!😊
Thank you Maymay. This was helpful
Bless your heart! I am not a card maker, but I am a paper crafter and this will help with banners, tags, labels....you name it Thank you! Sandy ❤️
Love your beginner series of cardmaking. When I started years ago I bought embossing powder, but had no heat gun. I melted the powder on my cards over an electric burner on the stove. Lol, I burned a few. But most were good. Now I was asked to teach a class at church. I love how you teach, so you are my inspiration! Thank you so much!!!
I loved the last purple card. I am not sure I ever would have thought of a purposeful 1/8th inch layer, but here it looks great!
Hi there Mrs. MayMay you always continue to inspire and help me to understand crafts and card making in general. I think though what would really help visually is seeing the actual math in calculating the layers. Thank you God bless
Hi I have those in the drop down box under the video and on the blog post, thanks
Love this video so much! I am not good at all at eyeballing. These measurements will help me so much. I will definitely be making myself templates. Thank you so much MayMay ♥
I remember when I started cars making, it was good to have this type of info at hand. I just had sizes written out. You explained this so very well. I’m sure this cleared up a lot for newbies! You’re such a great teacher, Maymay!
good tutorial. suggestion of cutting templates to refer to is wonderful.
Thank you very much. 🥰
This is so useful and so helpful TFS !
I just recently arranged a set of 10 layers in an envelope on my desk, it is a wonderful help to me in my creating as I am completely a visual learner and have a terrible time remembering numbers. Thanks for this video, I am sure it will be an enormous help to so many.
I'm lousy with numbers but great at eyeballing it. This helped. I'm going to make the templates!!
Thanks Maymay. This was very helpful even for seasoned crafters.
Thankyou MayMay for keeping it real…you suggest, NOT insist that a card maker like myself needs XYZ ty also for all your great Tutorials especially the Layers one.😀🇦🇺🐨🦘
Awesome tutorial! Thank you,
You are one of the best teacher!! You make everything so easy to understand. Thank you and God bless.
Great tutorial! I've been making cards for a long time and this was still helpful. Thank you Maymay.
Aw, thank you Maymay. This is brilliant especially from the perspective of a newbie. I remember being a noob and having no idea of what layer areas were and how to deal with them. Bless you!
Everything was great until I got to 8:37 and I got lost. 😮Thanks for the visuals because math is my weakest and visuals help me.
Fantastic video!!! We really needed this information!! You always make things simple for us! Love your channel! TFS!! 💕🌴😎
Great video....I never thought to make sample cuts to keep on hand. That idea will be so helpful. I surely will be doing that today.
You explained the concept very clearly - thanks. 😊

Love this!
thank you so muchi get it now🥰🤟
I love this. I get so confused when doing this. It’s definitely math and I don’t do math. I will be making a template set with the measurements on them. Thanks.
Hi you can find the measurements used in this video in the drop down box under the video and on the blog post, thanks
Thank you. This was really informative ❤❤❤
Ty for explaining this
Always good info
You did good!
Thank you!
Thanks so much for video..
This was a great video, thank you
Very helpful!
May may - Your video on layers was helpful ,however when you cut down for layers do you cut a1/4 from one or more sides ?
Any graphic artist who does layout design will be familiar with this from working with bleeds. So if you’re a graphic designer who just started crafting… same principle. :)
Great video
Thanks
Thank you finally
It might be helpful if you made a written tutorial telling people what to cut for making 1/4 cuts on only the top side and one side and going down to a smaller number. That way you look at it and know exactly what to cut for for smaller borders.
We do have that, it comes with our class called Greeting Card 101 which can be found on our site at www.maymayevents.com/collections/online-classes/products/greeting-cards-101 hope that helps!!!
For those challenged by this, you could make a layering SVG file …..
We put all measures in the description of this video, this will be great to grab some scraps and whip a set up. Thanks!
What a great breakdown Maymay. My problem with layers comes not in cutting them properly, but in centering each layer on the layer below. No matter what I do I usually end up with one side slightly smaller than the other 3 sides ( can you tell that I am a perfectionist 🤣). Do you have any tips to consistently center the layers properly? I try to line up 3 corners, but it doesn’t always work
Same for me! I'd love to see this issue addressed.
I have found that if I center the top two corners that the bottom will line up and the wet glue allows for a little wiggle room. Hopefully this helps
I don't measure. I eyeball. My problem is cardstock layers. More than two layers and my cards are too thick and heavy. They get damaged in the mail. Help please.
Is this live
hi, this is not a live broadcast, thanks
No wonder my paper never fit.
Hi May.
I'm still lost. How does work in metric?
HI, here is the measurements that we used in the video in metric ( I think, not my strongest math) these are in centimeters:
black base: 10.795 x 13.97
white: 10.16 x 13.335
red: 9.25 x 12.7
yellow: 8.89 x 12.065
blue: 8.255 x 11.43
brown: 7.62 x 10.795
If these are not correct let me know and I will try a math converter, thanks
