jeez i learned 2 big things from here. That you can easily make something with USB powered with just those 2 leads and that you can heat the end of a wire with lighter and strip it that way. I always have used wire strippers. Man such a good video.
Now I'm back in Guatemala, I can see that prices are expansive, but when I was living in USA, I felt them really cheap, I still like the tricks you show on your channel, thanks maestro!
I use this cable to power my Dji goggles v2 using a battery bank. I was skeptical at first thinking the power would cut out and not provide constant voltage and amps. It worked lol
You can't just magically multiply voltage. The current will suffer in inverse proportion to the voltage increase. Assuming the 5v usb supply is 2A, the 24V output will be a little over 400ma max. Net result, the power output (in Watts) will be the same (or less)
I don't think he said you can, but many devices don't care about high current as much as they care about high enough start up voltage, like dc motors for example which usually require around 7V to start up
So cool! I’m going to make one now I’ll have the USB input side also be on a cable for more flexibility. Thank you for doing this! Your products links are down, just a heads up in case you didn’t know.
I actually shouted out ‘.......... bloody hell......! I was amazed -;) you show us great stuff for small effort and so little $!!!!! Thank You, Thank You,Thank You,Thank You!!.,
Fun and easy! The outer shell is less aesthetic but I bet the quality is 100x better. TL;DR; version If you're learning or just prefer to build your own electronics: great option. If you're just looking to save money to obtain a common item, this is not a good option. The math doesn't really add up on the "savings" spend $6 less + required skill level + $80-$200 in equipment (soldering iron, voltmeter, alligator clips, power supply) and supplies (sheath, step-up converter, segmented display, tips, wire, solder) and 2-4 hours figuring it out. If you bought it all used or cheap and don't even factor in what your time is worth (because we're doing this for fun of course) you're sitting at very minimum $47 more to do this. Though I suppose you'd come away with supplies you could sell for $30 or so.. maybe at absolute minimum $17 more for this provided you don't have some kind of privileged access to this kind of equipment and supplies.
This voltmeter does not measure under ~5v, you need the other model with 3 wires, then the power wires you take from USB and the measure wire you connect to the output.

How much max DC current can a USB jack handle? If I connect a source of 5v 4amps supply to the USB female connector (jack), can I DASH charge my phone?
I liked your projects, could you please indicate which type of glue you are using in your projects, I saw sometimes you are using a spray and glue, but during that project you used something like a glue stick ? Could you please tell us what both are ? Thanks !
I am interested how it works under load, does it cause a bigger voltage drop? I am thinking of creating a UPS for my router from a power bank and this step up converter. Can it work?
Very nice build and useful too. I'm new to this type of project so I have a question. Which devices would need as high as 24 volts? Would it cause any damage?
I think only if u have a 5volt 3A from ur battery bank. If you use the same device from a 2 lithium ion batteries, Yes it's possible, as the battery would give enough current. But then you need additional circuit to maintain battery like avoiding over discharge. So in short unless the battery bank flawlessly give you more than 3A, it's not possible.
It looks cool, but This module heats up a lot when you boost it even a little bit. Then the chip on it, stops working within 2 o 3 uses, due to heat damage.
When you are on 12V, how many Amp hours are you using? I don't know the math and thinking of my big battery and computer. Or better the math, so I can work it out.
@@jonathangreen2231 bear in mind that 1Amp load at 12V output from a 5V input like a powerbank will push the module to its max limit, it will get very hot and prone to fail. for 12V output i would suggest you to put only about 500mA max load, less is better, if you're planning to run it for hours.
