Yesterday as I was watching the starch solution 1hr 12min long with the Dr. Mcdougall was like a light bulb went on. It all makes sense!! Im fat 60 years, 5"9 200lbs. Surfwd for 50 years, and then the knee injury, the back injury, fibro, high cholesterol. Tried keto yuk. So her I am and here we gooooo! Thank you so much! Searching recipes because I'm a self proclaimed chef! 😆
Potato!! I am getting my ducks in a row to start a modified version of a potato reset. For the last 6 weeks or so I have dramatically cut down on animal products and oil use. Going for a 7 day potato reset to get things moving! Thanks for all the info.

I love the way you summarized the starch solution, I have read through the whole book once and still have not started 🤦🏼♀️ this was very simple, sweet and to the point and makes it easier to get started. I think I hesitate, thinking I’ll miss the foods I’m used to but I really would like to feel better even more☺️

Oh my goodness, I love potatoes and sweet potatoes. I read The McDougall Plan for Super Health and Life-Long Weight Loss in 1983 during my vegetarian days. Because I was an energetic, fit, and thin young mother at the time, I didn't see any reason to give up butter, cheese, or processed, fiberless foods like white bread, oil, and pastries. It wasn't until I got sick (and fat) decades years later that I remembered the ideas that he and Dr. Ornish teach in their books. I wish I had adopted this WOE before losing my health and setting my kids up for the same. Now, I am energetic, fit, and trim for a grandma. It works.

The doctor told me I had diabetes. I vowed never to eat a potato ago. I ate broccoli and tea for breakfast and veggies all day my number went from 320 to 90 in a month. Plus I lossed weight. I don't get full on veggies alone and potatoes fill me but I'm scared to start eating potatoes again. And I feel I'm being unfaithful to myself.
I'm breastfeeding and also could do to lose 30 pounds. But I found having too many vegetables and wholesome starches completely messed up my hormones and tanked my energy. So I'm eating one meal of some pasta or pancakes. And less veggies. Feel soo much better and my hunger came back. Love my veggies and whole foods though and I figure when I drop some weight I'll just drop the more refined starches!

What about my situation. I have stage 2 Renal disease? and was diagnosed 1 month ago after my annual check-up. Immediately I start researching how to cure my condition. I'm confused, with so many Plant-based Vegan experts, have you heard or read about Medical Medium?! Seems he says no soy products or nutritional yeast. Then I read a Renal Diet for stages 3 & 4. I didn't find early what diet I should be on. Currently, protein is what I am restricted to, and need to cut down on my protein intake. Since then I got down 1 protein a week and I am transitioning to the Whole plant-based, I don't want to just maintain my stage 2 if possible reversing it is my ultimate goal. Being stay home mom. In the past, I did discover Starch Solution by watching High carb Hannah and Plantifulkiki. Before I even found you the second time around😉 it seems when I followed Plantifulkiki. I gain weight because watching your “Condiments youtube” sparked a green light “I overly sauce my food 🙈🤔😁😉. I misjudged it and lack information and understanding. I'm fully committed to healing my body.

Hi, so your saying that diabetics who are told to control blood sugar and carbs can use this diet ? So , potatoes / rice / corn can cause very large glucose spikes ( 200 - 280 red zones ! ). So this is not a concern ? please explain. Thanks
I was getting so exited but I lost it when you say no dairy or fish, I don't eat meat, but I'm having pescatarian diet, I consider myself a very strong person but vegan is the hardest thing to be once you knew dairy and fish in my case. I'm feeling sad in this moment 😭

HI! While I really like the idea (being vegan) of the starch solution to lose weight, I'm a bit concerned about Dr. Mcdougall's lately appearance. He seems to be aging badly and that is not promoting the diet. What do you think?

I've been doing my version of the John McDougall diet for 7 weeks and lost 9 pounds but I went off the wagon last week with 3 slices of pizza and gained 3 pounds. I'm back down 8 pounds now. I'm 62 and want to lose 78 more pounds according to the chart which McDougall said was from Walter Kempner the Rice diet guy. I'm 5'9". I do cheat on the diet with store veg soup, miracle whip and let's see, store low fat salad dressing. If I stop losing weight I won't really care as long as I have my heart health which is why I started to get serious about this diet.

Hi Emmie! I started the starch solution a couple of months ago. Weight loss around ten pounds. I have been a non meat eater my whole life, never like the texture of meat. In trying to eat the right things I was wondering if canned regular green beans is ok, or is considered processed? Trying to educate myself more about certain foods. U explained well about veg oils. Eat avocado not avocado oil, eat coconut, no need to isolate the oil!
