Being in my 50's, and having loved the Floyd since I was six years old, I recently found it necessary to learn how to seperate the artist's creations from the _person_ the artist is (or was). Whether it's Elvis, Waters, Lennon, Clapton, John Fogerty, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Kurt Cobain, etc etc... All music stars are people, and people just suck in general. Some more than others, of course. Waters is a musical/artistic genius, but as a man, I really have little respect for how he treats and treated his former Floydian bandmates. And the best part is, Gilmour even graciously agreed to playing the solos on one or two of the songs on The Final Cut, and that was the only listenable song on the album (The Gunner's Dream, i think it was titled).

Personally I believe that Roger to this day has not gotten over the death of his father in WW2 when he was a baby. It showed in his maniacal lyrics. I love Pink Floyd the band, including Syd stuff, their personal views are their own, I just love the music they created.
Many of us lost our fathers to military service, not as babies but as youngsters who distinctly remember the man they lost. Waters assigns much of his angst to that event, but he has no memory of his father- it's learned trauma. Waters is intelligent and talented, as well as vindictive and resentful. In a nutshell- he's a complicated human being.
Roger simply can't sing and never could and a reason most of his solo material is a tough listen, but it mixed well with David's soulful vocals and guitar. One listen to Roger's remake of DSOTM should be all the proof you need.
I'm not jumping on the Waters /Gilmour bandwagon crap. What I will say is, when the deal is done, what are we to expect from this? Yet more re hashes of the albums we already have too many copies of? Expensive, unnecessary box sets? Will we ever see the 5.1 copy of The Wall? Live at Pompeii, Venice and other unreleased items? I suppose we will have to wait and see. It's a pity a UK based company couldn't buy the rights, as they are a "quintessentially English band" !

I wouldn’t spend the ridiculous amount of money on a ticket that they would want for a reunion tour. For the first time I’m happy with knowing that it’s over for good. What a sad and desperate money grab that tour would be. Neither of these guys could pull off the vocals needed to make it decent and authentic so it would be lip synced. And while they are lip syncing why not play tracks instead of instruments? In fact let’s just have these 3 guys on stage and not bother with a band and instruments at all. Large stage productions can be fun but music is about connection, concerts are just circus displays now with no heart or connection.
