- With my hair being shorter than before, I am able to explore and share with you an array of styling options catered towards shorter, natural hair. I am excited to share with you a way to make your curls POP! This technique is very similar to my "Define Your Curls" tutorial, but the difference is the more laid back approach of the shingling, which doesn't require as much persision and shrinkage is our friend! This is the same method I use for more defined curls. It totally works for longer hair too! I love it!!! I definitely feel more confident with my hair.

I take 20 minutes every morning doing the exact thing you do except I use beautiful textures "moisture butter whipped curl crème" I prefer doing each couple of strands of my hair from root to ends with it all over and letting it hang naturally curly like top ramen noodle's vs the apply on dry hair and twist methods that i see a lot of people doing..love your vid..subscribing😊

I agree, preserving this style is challenging in shorter hair. With longer hair it was problem and I'd just pineapple it at night but now i put a satin bonnet over it and I have to refresh it in morning with water so it doesn't last as long as it used to because the water can cause you to lose definition.

After i define my hair it'll be super defined then go frizzy about an hour later. Is it cause i let it air dry? Should i blowdry it right away?

You are so beautiful. Your hair is beautiful. However, I have used Evo gel, and all it does is make my hair flaky like most products. When I first do my hair, it's bouncy, but after a while,it shrinks into tight curls.

Yes I have your texture. Except I don't blow dry or use a comb for stretching. I stretch using a different method.

Really it's simple to make your curls pop & bounce. Less products, and doing the shaking method. I let my hair air dry. I heat damaged my hair, and my hair use to be in the middle of my back I had to start over with 6in of hair. Devastating yet exciting process just to see my curls again. I don't want any heat to mess me up again. I choose my hair care products wisely. My hair since then has grown so rapidly. Chopped in this years March, can't wait to see the results in December.
+Dreamer7est thats very very true everything you said that's exactly what I do. I cut my hair your length in this video back in August and I can't wait 2 see what mines is going to look like early part of next year. and those heat protection I love those so much they're a really big help :)
Yeah I didn't know nothing about hair at the time. So heat protectant was introduced to me too late. 😔 Now I'm aware, and will flat iron it when I feel comfortable. Other than that I'm terrified to, plus I'm loving my curls.

Quick question, when your hair was longer how did you sleep with it vs now?
When it was longer I'd do the pineapple method but it's a little more challenging with short hair and it takes more to keep it fresh looking now. I sleep with a satin bonnet over it now and in the morning spray water to refresh it.

Sha Jefferson of course you can, these are just the products I like to use but I highly suggest a non-flaking gel.
I've heard a lot of people say you can wash your hair just conditioner, is that true or should I use Shampoo?
No u should u conditioner,shampoo has sulfate in it wich will dry out ur hair , I use conditioner and shampoo once a month to really get rid of dirt on my scalp

Hey,my hair is very similar to yours. I tried this method with the olive oil eco styler and it made my hair very crunchy and hard. Is there another gel you recommend that will be softer ?
You can try it with a softer gel such as Eco Styler (the pink one) it's a light hold gel. I've used it and loved it. The key to get the crunch out is to use a serum and then stretch it with the blow dryer.

Yeah bc it's easier for a looser texture curl pattern
odyejim I would give this technique a try but with a styling product such as Miss Jessies Baby Buttercreme alone and take more time concentrating on the technique instead of being as random as I was. Id also skip the blowdrying part because depending on your curl pattern, it may lose definition. I always say, this is what works on MY hair and it may not work on yours but have fun and try it out!
