    I had just come across your video as I was searching for great tires in wet weather. Most any tire can go in a straight line in wet weather, but the true test is how well that they grip the road on corners and turns. That's my main factor when I'm looking for tires.
    The tires that you had covered in your video is the factory installed tires on my 2017 Indian Chieftain Limited. It's an 850 lb. bike. My bike has over 13,000 miles on it, and my tires still look great. I haven't had any issues with them yet. They've been dependable and have yet to give me any trust issues.

      Harley only mostly installs stock Dunlop 401 and 402 etc which they get only approx 8k, these American Elites are considered premiums and have to purchase them myself and more expensive.

    It was a credit to the tire brand to see your speedo clocking 55/60 mph along with traffic, and, you were holding your own road space with no fear of control loss during the rainy weather riding. Great promotion for the brand. Doug🏍️👍🤓

      Although it was not meant to promote the brand for the company but to actually help those that want good quality long lasting touring tires that I myself have trusted and on my third set. But a little monetary throwback to the channel would have been a nice touch. Thanks for watching. Here is another one I did first at night in the rain in 2020 ruclips.net/video/vEEjuPPqby4/видео.html

    I've never run Dunlop tires on any bike I've owned. Its time for a new tire set for my Victory Cross Country and I'm not happy with the brands I've been using. Through some research I came across Dunlop American Elite tires and thought they might be exactly what I'm looking for.... After listening to your experience with the AE's I'm 100% going with them. We have similar bikes, riding styles and probably ride a lot of the same areas, since the AE tires are working so well for you, they should do the same for me. Thanks for the vid 👍

      I hope you are as happy as I have been after three sets and never an issue so far. I am in the middle of negotiations with my HD dealer as we speak for a 19 Limited and if the bike doesn't have the AE on I will sure have them on as soon as I wear out what ever is on there now. Thanks for stopping by.

    Great Video & Riding! Dunlop says the American Elite Tire was made exclusively for Harley Davidson. Some are saying the tire says Harley Davidson on them while others say it doesn't. Meanwhile I'm having a hard time picking out a tire for my 2005 Road King. I see people overloading their tires/bike. The AE has a high Load rating and I think that's the key to having a tire last a long time. Are you still riding on AE's?

    • @ontheothersideoftheroad
      @ontheothersideoftheroad  Год назад +1

      I believe they are American made right in Buffalo NY, The stock tires do say HD on them but since AE are premium I'm not exactly sure. They do make AE's for many touring bike on the road. The reason the AE's last longer than most stock tires is b/c it has a hard compound center for less wear and the outside has a softer compound for grabbing the road on leans. Thanks for stopping by.

    Put an American Elite on the back of my 83 Goldwing a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare on wet roads! Even gearing down at 3500 rpm made it slip. From what I've gathered you need to have a VERY heavy bike in order for them to grip the way you want in the wet. I'm going to stick to the Dunlop 402 for this exact reason.

    • @markgreen2488

      Ahhh, the Elite tire for your Goldwing is not the sa.e as the American Elite. I used to ride a Victory Vision and it did use the exact same tires as the Goldwing. So, these American Elites are completely different!!!

    Thank you for sharing, I run these Dunlap’s American Elite’s and so far so good, I got 12K miles on a rear with riding 2 up most of the time so I’m a firm believer besides mileage, traction has been good,, have you rode 80MPH on wet pavement on yours? If so, any concerns? I try to keep around 65MPH when riding wet pavement. Thank you again for sharing. Ride safe sir!

      I have not ridden 80 mph as I don't see the necessity of going that fast b/c you need to be careful of not seeing high water at those speeds and causing you to hyroplane and get yourself hurt.

    I run a Road King, 2003 and 5 months ago put the 140/90/16 Wide White Wall Dunlop American Elite III on the back. Less than 2000 miles the tire is destroyed. Every snipe that runs into the center of the tire has a 1 inch long crack and radially around the edges of the tire there is multi-compound separation. Tires also have cupping on both side all the way around. For what I paid for this tire that is totally unacceptable. I ride my wife and my daughter on this motorcycle and I cannot even imagine what a blow out on I95 at 75 miles an hour would have been like. I 'will never buy another Dunlop tire ever again. Thank god he was looking out for us because Dunlop wasn't. I check the air pressure on those tire for every ride....EVERY RIDE and put the 40 psi in the rear and 38 psi up front. Dunlop, you lost a customer for life thank god it wasn't because my life came to an end.

      I am sorry you dealt with an ordeal like that riding on Dunlop AE III's, I have no experience with the III's b/c they don't make sizes for my 15 Limited. So in all fairness, I have never heard of such malfunction of any Dunlop as you describe but have heard the Michelin Commanders whatever the series had horrible things happen to owners e.g. cuts and chunks. I am on my third set of the first series and they have been working great. Thanks for watching.
