I spoke with Weber about using a 20 lb propane tank with the 22" Traveler griddle. They said that you CAN actually use a 20 lb tank if you purchase the correct Weber adapter hose. Because the griddle is only set up for the 1 lb tank out of the box, that's why the manual says to only use a 1 lb tank. I have cooked on mine 3 times now with the Weber adapter hose and a 20 lb tank, and it has worked fine.

Also, what about the “Mr. Heater Fuel Keg Refillable Propane Tank Bundle - 1lb Tank and Refill Kit”… a newer version to the market? I’m still trying to decide.
I’ve got my eye on the “GRILLBLAZER Su-VGun” … but I also have a Blackstone 22 inch that I haven’t even seasoned yet. Many birds, one canister.

that doesn't make sense, when you transfer from a 20 lber, it comes out in gas form, it doesn't stay as a liquid during the transfer process.... you would have to turn it upside down which actually disabled the safety valve... why wouldn't you just get an adapter hose, do you know how bad a liquid propane burn can get, it's terrible.

    • @bluecruiser2019

@@Trigger200284 you have to turn the big tank upside down.

@@bluecruiser2019 ya i corrected myself, but it's not smart, just buy the hose adapter that has the 1 pound cylinder threads on it and convert it directly to use the 20 pounder.

What an awesome idea going to different campgrounds. I would definitely do the same thing you do with the griddles. Just give as much information as possible and tell the good and the bad. Now with that being said Weber needs to thank you for giving us an excellent review of their griddle. I was simply impressed with the design, the temps, (I actually love that hot spot for searing) and the amount of pancakes you could do gave us a real grasp on the amount food at one time on a 22 inch griddle. The simple things you did just showed us the opportunities in it's use. Great Job!

    Hey Neil, great video!
My wife and myself are full-time RV and we stay at Airstream park in Crossville Tennessee, Tennessee.
I don’t know if you guys have all your campgrounds picked out yet but at this particular Airstream park people are mostly full-time And just about everybody does their own cooking at home
I don’t know if you have all your destinations set in stone yet, but have you guys come out to TCPC in Crossville Tennessee would be fantastic!
We really enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot about how to cook on a flat top griddle that has a lot to do with you guys
We currently have a pit boss 22 inch portable grill that we use but the Weber definitely looks nice!
We’ve actually done a couple hibachi style chicken and rice on a 22 inch griddle and believe me that was challenging, but it came out great and we enjoyed it and followed your recipe exactly
Hopefully you can make it out to Crossville and if you need my help, I can get something set up because I know you’d have a captive audience from a whole bunch of folks that full-time it
    Thanks again, Charlie and Donna

I don't know how many people you'll be cooking for but sometimes I'll run out of space on the cooking surface so I'll need to pull stuff off and those help to be able to put them back on the griddle top to warm stuff back up! Thanks for all you do for the griddle community!

Happy Camping Neal! - For me, I have pretty much all the same equipment I use at home for my camper - I can't think of anything that I use camping that I don't use at home.
Most camping things are "smaller versions" or collapsible versions to conserve space and weight.
I definitely have two separate sets of tools, bowls, thermometers, etc. so I don't have to pack up all my home gear for each trip, and then unpack them on return. - It's an evolution. - Cheers!

I have the small, Weber egg-shaped grill that I take airplane camping. I found a Lodge griddle that fits perfectly over the grate. The 1# bottles have gotten really expensive, but then so has everything else since you know what, so I refill them myself. I also take a Honda 1000 generator for charging and light and a small Solo Stove for those remote locations without a fire pit. Always nice to have a tarp and paracord in case of rain. Don’t forget the mossy repellant. I guess I won’t be seeing you in the Idaho backcountry…

We camp in a motorhome and have a Weber Baby Q gas grill and a 22" Blackstone. My daughter and her family also have a 22" Blackstone. I can run two griddles on a 20 lb. tank and during our annual family camping trip the two griddles feed about 2 dozen of us for most meals. My nephew also brings a Treager so we have lots of options and eat really well.

I feel like I could cook all the same things on a flattop that I do on the Q. We love our camping breakfast and I use a griddle pan on my outdoor burners but I feel a flattop would be better. I’m really loving my BS 20” camping griddle.Temperatures are great , heats up super fast, seems to have more even temperatures than the Weber. The non stick works amazing . Cooking on it is great. My concern is the build quality. I had some paint chipping on the edges of the case, ignition needs to be adjusted after moving sometimes ,removing the plate is not an ideal system and the hood lock is flimsy. The Weber seems to have a much better build quality .

I was PRAYING you were going to be giving your thoughts on the new 22" Blackstone Camping Griddle. Wow, I got excited! Please consider doing that one as well! Edit-as someone who owns a camper, the Weber is much heavier than the Blackstone and the fact they are recommending one pound bottles is sort of crazy! Campers large and small are generally carrying their propane. We have a connector that we use for our griddle, so why they would have designed it to use bottles seems a little crazy! We still own a Members Mark flat top and while I think the steel top is definitely better, the weight, adjustable legs AND the portability of the Blackstone Camping Griddle are a big thing!

Bug repellent, don’t forget bug repellents both campsite and spray on. This is how I do chocolate chip pancakes, that way I can add chocolate chips to some, bacon pieces to others and if you want to blow people away get a ripe Banana, mash it all up and add it to the batter … also top the chocolate ones with butter and powdered sugar … Keep cooking kids!

For Chocolate Chip Pancakes: Don't mix it in the batter. Do what they did, but kind of agitate the top afterward to cover the chips. Mixing it into the batter makes the chips tend to clump in the middle with none at the edges, where putting them on during cooking gives a better distribution. Agitating the tops means the chocolate doesn't touch the griddle and scorch.

"Thankyou for reaching out to Weber.
We are sorry that you are facing issues with your grill. Rest assured we are happy to assist you
Due to the difference of pressure between canister and 20lb tank we use adapter and hose, to connect the 20lb tank you will need the adapter hose and it is available for any of the portable gas grills.
