    ***UPDATE - There have been a TON of comments about whether or not metal utensils can be used on the Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle. I had previously received information that metal utensils could be used. However, after reaching out for clarification, questions about warranty issues, etc., my personal advice going forward would be to use metal utensils at your own risk. The actual User’s Manual states that “the best utensils to use are wood, silicone, or nylon, as these materials will reduce the wear on the cooking surface”. My integrity and the integrity of the information that I present to you is my number one priority! I apologize for any confusion.

      Pit Boss makes "regular" griddles without the ceramic. Get one of those. For those who'd like a ceramic coated top, it wouldn't be better without a ceramic coating. Don't use metal on it. I don't even use metal on my cast iron and stainless steel cookware. No scratches and gouges.

    Where did we hear that you can use metal utensils on the Pitboss?? Because it clearly says in the manual "The Hot Plate of your griddle is ceramic-coated. The best utensils to use are wood, silcone, or nylon, as these materials
    will reduce the wear on the cooking surface". Thats direct from the manual on their website PDF. I mean they even sell a Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle Kit 5- piece new set that is made out of nylon polymer. So, what the hell is the correct answer from these people? Ive seen other vids where 2 sales guys say you can, then say something differnt in their own manual.
    Lets keep in mind most nylon products are usually heat-resistant to about 400° F. Sounds like a big no-no on a screaming hot ceramic griddle....

    Neil…. I love all your vids, and I find you to be as non-biased as anyone. I wish you would stress a little more in the difference between convenience and longevity. I was actually more on board with the Pit Boss, when they hadn’t endorsed metal. Are they saying it now officially stands the test of time, or they aren’t selling enough of them, so they “find” it to be stand-up? Just watched too many 1 star through 4 star ceramic pans get destroyed in the last decade and a half, because my wife thinks there is an answer to Teflon.
    There is an answer, it’s millennia old, and it’s cast iron. Or in the case of a griddle, it’s rolled steel? I’m not trying to pee in the Cheerios, but considering what these things cost, to me, the only difference is how hard/much you use them, and disposable income you have. IMO, too soon to tell.

      @@alexwheeler2383 I have purchase an used the Camp Chef for more than a year . Main reason is that the grill has a cast apron to shield the burners from the wind which was not on the Blackstone. Have used a Blackstone and like it as it is not as hot as my Camp Chef . I don't believe that you will be see the Grill King use metal utensils very often on the Pit Boss . I have ceramic fry pans that have been damaged with metal . Only time will tell. Sponsorship is different than a brand ambassador in my opinion. I still cook on my Camp Chef and also have recently purchased a Blackstone on my own dime. I have and still cook on all three. In my conversation with pit boss it was discussed from the start that I wanted the ability to cook on any griddle I wanted to insure honesty in all aspects.
      I wanted the ability to be versatile with viewers to allow for fair competition.
      All I have done since day I is just be honest with both the food and reviews. With that being said NO IT DOES NOT SWAY MY OPINION ON ANYTHING GOOD OR BAD.
      Heck in my last video I made on Whiskey Cinnamon Pancakes I said after cooking them that I didn't like em. I didn't re shoot either.

    Happy Easter Flat Top King! Let me tell you brother I am sooooo glad you brought up being able to use metal utensils on this Pit Boss Ceramic Coated Griddle. We made French toast on this Bad Boy this morning and we decided that it wasn’t worth the effort and had lost or mojo to keep on fighting the fight. It seems that everything had a tendency to stick to the griddle and if the griddle wasn’t over laden with oils a butter it didn’t matter what we cooked on it it would stick if using silicone utensils. We’ve used this thing about 10 times and to be honest with you we were seriously going to take this thing back or put it on the curb to let someone else fight for the cause. It made the camp Chef and Black Stone look pretty darn attractive. Thank you for your videos and honesty and keep up the good work. God Bless!!!

On the black stone it felt like I was always running out of room and it became a balancing act sometimes. (Kids don't eat like adults) The surprise to the 600 is temp control. I played with it for a bit, and got it to 500 on the right dropping to 200 on the far left. I can make eggs and pancakes on one end and all my meat on the other side. and anything else in the middle. It's a case of bigger is better lol. When we do have people over the 3 things, they want are Cheese steak, chop cheese, and smash burgers. The most I fed was 32 adults, 12 kids and never had a problem, and never ran out of room. Something else I did was I had a gas line run so I don't use propane any more.

    A teflon coated "griddle" is nothing more than a supersized everyday frying pan! Very few people use cast iron frying pans because they are hard to clean and a lot work! The whole concept of Blackstone, or the others like it that use cast iron was to provide a large easy to use cooking space that gives that unique and delicious flavor you can only get from cast iron! Why do you think Waffle House is so successful??? Coose what you like, but let's be honest.....you are comparing apples and oranges!!!

      @TheFlatTopKing  2 года назад +1

      With all due respect...I am by no means trying to one up you. But you are completely wrong...NOt going into detail but really quick.
      1.Waffle House cooks on a Commercial Stainless still griddle, Not Cast Iron.
      2.Its not coated with Teflon....It is ceramic which in todays world completely different - not even apples and oranges
      3. they are all big everyday frying pans
      4. They are not cast iron..they are rolled steel..some come preseason and some don't
      although they are extremely similar to cast iron..
      5. Back in my previous videos I started out on cast iron....so I do have a leg to stand on..

    • @TheFlatTopKing
      @TheFlatTopKing  Год назад

      Well I personally do not have experience with that idea...the griddles would be the same but I have not done it..
      So some things that go into it...
      1. be careful of grease trap...both underneath and back...that way its easy to get to..
      2. how much heat it puts off around the unit..
      3. I am assuming it would have to be straight lined for natural gas ...so the griddle would have to accept that.
      Lastly we have a group on fb called The Griddle Group on FB and this would be a perfect topic...you would get actual responses from people that have done it...and they will have pics as well

    Nice thorough break down. I am leaning towards getting a Blackstone since I don’t currently own a flat top. The air fry model seems to check all the boxes. Are you saying that the air fryer function is not worth the extra $200 on the 36” model? How does it work compared to a counter top air fryer?

      I dont know that why I was like hey its got something I don't have. I do know if I had to do it again I would not get the same one. The air fryer is just not being used as I thought I would...Which one who knows but its already bought

    Do any of these work with Gas lines that run from the house? I know some of them specifically only use propane.

    So many choices. I was going to go with members mark one. But the shelves don’t fold down witch makes it deal breaker. I also really want a hood.

    I love your common sense thought about what's relevant for what someone "needs" . Traeger griddle review please.

    Thanks for your informational presentation. This is a big help in me deciding which griddle to purchase. Semper Fi Sailor.
