A micro hotel on wheels. You did a great job. 🙂
Mom was solid on the cushions.
The best easy simple inexpensive practical build I’ve seen so far!
Hello from the UK, been living in my connect for a year now and still love it: 55 mpg (diesel), 340 watt solar panel & 2 kW diesel heater.
Also the parts,are cheap :)
Thanx for reminding us all we don't have to give up our brick and mortar houses to enjoy van life for get aways. Also emergency preparedness just in case......
Perfect! This is just what I want for the same reasons you have said. I believe that front curtain should be some blackout material for myself. Keep tweaking and keep us posted. Thank you for this upload. ❤️👍🏼
I have traveled and camped in my Nissan X-Terra. I’m short, so I can sleep in the back just fine. I have often thought, though, how ideal a Transit Connect would be. You nailed it!
Nice build. I have a 2012 Transit Connect myself. Like you said, it is perfect for road trips. Longest I've lived out of it was 30 days. Most trips are usually only a week or two though.
BTW, if you need even more storage you can put a shelf above the driver/passenger area. Right above where your curtains there are plugs you can pop out and there should be bolt holes there that you can anchor the shelf to. The front end you can use metal L brackets that hang over the lip of the existing shelf. For mine I framed it out with 2x2s with a very thin sheet of plywood for the bottom. I just needed a place for clothes and other light stuff.
Done the same with my Hi-Top,, the amount of _Dead space_ that you gain is quite literally unbelievable, I couldn’t go without my shelf now + a light colour auto carpet & it’s just like factory (UK anyway as we got the most basic of models, The US I think Ford where aiming for the “‘small truck”’ market
Excellent vids🙌🏼🚛💨💨✌🏼
That van is goals! Nice work!
I love it Camping is life it seems to be a good set up I grew up camping so been in the woods is my favorite place
Happy camping man
Thats a sweet little van! I have a VW caddy maxi that i am building out for the same use. I love how simple but effective your van is!
Nice build and you and wife are having fun
Excellent build! I have a 2010 transit connect. I use it the same way y'all do. I do the snowbird thing in mine in January and February. This year it'll be down the eastern seaboard to South Carolina add them out to California and back.
Perfect application for what I want to do; camping out in the desert two or three nights, now and then, with some buddies. Now I've just got to find a good deal on a van. Thanks.
Very neat set up!
Love the simplicity! Nice setup.
Nice. This is what my husband & I are looking to do. Thanx for the vlog.
Family work = Dream works 👏🏾 good job & Bless you all, thanks for sharing 🚐🏞
really nice build! I had a transit connect as my first van and they are really nice mini-campers
Very nice camper, we had one of those Transit Connects as well. We took lots of trips and camped quite a bit too. We did eventually have to get a larger one to fit a camping toilet into the mix . Have fun
Great build ideas, so many go way overboard inmo! Thanks for sharing.
Love you and your mom’s work!
I realize you're not van lifing full-time , but I appreciate the simpler builds. I never understand investing so much money into something that will eventually need to be replaced. There are various reasons for van life. For me, less is more. Keep it clean and comfortable.
Cool stuff, fits your needs well. I was thinking about doing something similar for my solo trips but sticking with the estate car for now and sleeping in a tent
This is amazing yet simple and reassured my decision to do this! Thank you
yessssss,what ive been waiting for!!!!!!
Awesome build!
Nice and I'm sure you'll add on and modify things as you see necessary.
I have one. I recommend extending the shelf above the seats, for convenient storage.
Awesome video buddy. Popped up in my suggestions didn’t know you had another channel. Subbed straight away!
Looks Nice!
Very clever, neat and particle. A+
Love it!!!
Your van looks great for you! My boys are working on a 2013 transit con. for me right now! In my younger days, I loved backpacking, so the size of my van feels like it'll be great. I'd appreciate if you'd do a quick video showing your shelf , above, attached to the front seat shelf. And tell again, in a little more detail, how you attached it. THANKS for your video. Happy travels!
Good Job Bartose's
Awesome awesome you made everything so simple love it thanks
I have a 2012 Transit Connect I’ve set up to travel and boon dock out of. I general use a two man Kodiak tent, when I’m camping for more room, as I’m an amateur astronomer and carry two telescopes in my travels. Your design is a good one for your purposes. I agree about not installing a ‘Max Air’ ( or any other kind for that matter). There’s plenty of ventilation without it, and my experience has been holes in the roof inevitably leak, and are always discovered during some cloudburst event.
I would love to see a more in-depth video on how the bed was built. Love the simplicity of the van
Great job! Curious if you have thought about adding a table somehow to the inside? How about extended tables out the back for cooking?
love it great job
Very impressive
I'd love to see a super cool trip you guys do in the van.
Your mama and dad got skills!!
Very nice!
Great job on the van nice to meet ya new subscriber here!
That Connect is neat for your weekender\extended road trips AND it has the power to pull a utility vehicle if you need one for hauling more camping gear. Evidently, you are planning on more “pit stops” for restroom and other needed “leg-stretchers”.I noticed that you also have a cooler for drinks and munchies-cool idea😸
Idk if it has the power😬 my 2013 transit connect won’t hit 70 with the few things I haul inside living in it if it’s free falling lol *knocks on wood.. but if you don’t mind driving on the slower side, it’s the perfect micro van
If ya wanna lean back in your seats....the storage boxes could be put on hinges that turned towards your floor while you were driving. 👍🏻
Love your videos. More posts please
I want one for weekend overnights at a job. As well as a few trips to tacoma Washington from texas to see my son
Nice job on your build and perfect for camping trips!
Great vid thank you tell us more about how you built it please
Being shorter does have its advantages. I'm too tall for this to work but still looks awesome 👌
I'd add an air vent or two... those lowered windows using the rain guards make breaking those windows 10 times easier to bust open- less than one second. You'd instantly be trapped by a robber.
Safer is better.
Very true, although I'm not too worried about that in places that I stay, our dog sleeps in the front seat and I have other means to protect myself. But yes in the future I'm going to look into putting in a max air vent
@@nigelbarrostoo I just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you didn't realize the weaknesses of an unsealed window, even though the louver hides the opening. Travel safe, travel far.
Thanks for the video and have a great weekend.
I've been looking at a small camper van to make a build and stumbled on your video. Your face looked familiar and then it hit me! I used to watch your camera equipment reviews a few years ago! And you skate too! So sick to keep finding your high quality content my dude.
hey thats awesome! glad you keep finding my content, don't post here as much as my main channel but want to start creating more content here
I am so excited!! I wondering if I can fit a small workstation/desk area where I can edit my videos and stuff. That would be something I would like to include in your design! Very excited to start on my build
This one is the best one I’ve ever seen great job guys thanks.
6,000 should be more like 2,000 just saying, respects to you man, great van.
Would love to see rooftop tent on the van if that’s supported.
This is awesome, is there anyway you can post measurements/ blueprints
18v Ryobi fans attach perfectly to the front windows if you need more airflow
Good to know thanks!
you sound like that actor Raymond in "Everybody loves Raymond"

Transit connect xlt vans are the best to have and keep..
For its intended use this is a great build. Can you please give us an idea of the MPG you're getting from this van and also please mention at what average (highway) speed and what model year is your Ford Transit? Thanks!
Nice job.
Awesome little van, any problems with it ? I am thinking about buying one of those older transit vans but hear different opinions
I’m impressed you’re able to sit up straight inside of it. What is the interior height of your van?
Nice! When u pull out the wood to form the bed.. is there a middle peice of wood too that rests on the middle block behind seats?
we pull the drawers out sometimes and that acts as a middle support
Love it! No need to get crazy spending tens of thousands of dollars
very true!
Hiya, wonderful! I’m getting a transit, and a friend will help me duplicate it. Can you please tell me the height at the back, where your bins are, from floor to underside of the bed? I have lotsa bins, but they be too high. Great design.
This is a wild feeling for me. I've been a follower of your videography channel since you had less than 10k subscribers. Weird to suddenly come across this video and see you have another channel.
My first time visiting your channel. Would you be interested in working on my cargo van with the same design. I love what you did.
GO MOM!!!
We have a similar van. It is the city version with more windows. I like your build better. ❤️. Ours is also a short trip van. We also have a sink and small Dometic refrigerator. And a useless microwave that I’d love to remove. Sigh. Thanks for sharing.
It looks nice :) So basically just a bed, no sink, no cooking, no bathroom. So do you rely, when camping, outhouse, takeout food to eat, and another place to shower?
He said is just for weekend camping, you don’t need to shower every day, there are also portable camping showers you hang from a tree, I’m only guessing but in many places you’ll have a picnic table where you can set up for cooking or the pit. Is for camping not living in it.
I was going to pass up this video, who cares, but that would have been a mistake. Its really great and I could live in it. Though it IS really small and Ive been looking at full sized vans, this definitely is worth considering. If I got a Connect would you be interested in some money to help me do this job? I have very limited facilities for build work.
No fan with hot humid weather???
How much miles on it when you bought it?
Seems like this was the first vdo clip that U did 'cause I couldn't find any other at all at your profile (I tried to search of how U build your bed and those 2 boxes behind the front seats, and those 3 big drawers under the bed). I like your thoughtful bed building and the extension. May I ask how many miles U have of this 2010 model? And any mechanical problems if U ever had? Thanks.
thanks for the video, my question how do you pee with bed completely taking up the floor at 2 in the morning you go outside ?? thanks ps how long is the bed or floor space
yup we just go outside just like in regular camping, I'm not 100% sure what the gargo space is on these vans but id guess a little over 6ft, when the bed is put away i think there's a little over 2ft of floor space
I bought a 2013 Ford transit that also was only a bare
Metal shell on wheels, for cargo. Interior of the cargo area is 72" long and floor to ceiling was 57" before I put in my floor and cieling.
You should pull the drawers out about half way for more support
we do that too but it's not always necessary
@@nigelbarrostoo 👍😎 great build!
Nice! How much did it cost for the van + to do up? If you dont mind me asking!
Only around $400-$500, mostly in materials and the price of the awning and rails. A lot of the money was saved due to the fact my mom is a seamstress and my dad is a carpenter 👍🏻
@@NigelBarros thats sick! The dream team right there haha, thanks for the info!
What year is it? Mpg?
Love the shout out to Dad n Mom.
Not loving the background music. (I actually paused your vid to see where the annoying interference was coming from. I suspected a parked deliveryman, but no, it was you.)
I tried leaving a question on your current video but it did not post.
How many miles are on yours ?
At the making of this video probably around 148k now I have around 155k and its still running just fine with a few minor things I need to service
Way2go affordable plain and simple
Hi can you put the dimensions of the bed online please
Nice, but it’s just too horribly hot in Texas for no insulation or fan….or A/C!
I feel that, we didn't do any camping in texas but here in the northwest it's perfect for our needs!
💛🇬🇧💛
How tall are you ?
5' 11'', about 6ft when laying down
thanks so much

"My mother careful creat it"
😆
basic build for sure...with no kitchen or bath area and small ...gather spends more time outside...but when bad weather...what then?
why are all the people showing their vans ate fast forwarding when making the full bed!!!! this is the most important!!! but you all skip it
