I used the G7 and G85 for a period of time. The IBIS alone in the G85 was a game changer. Paired it with the 42.5mm 1.7 and results were gorgeous. I'd have to agree though, save the extra and get a GH5 if only for the v-log!

It's always interesting cause the answer to these questions are always "depends" and there's so much nuance per videographer/photographer. Too many "one size fits all" answers out there but love the nuance you tend to explore!

Hey Nigel! As a long time Sony user I have the Sony a6400 and like the small size but struggle with the lack of good image stabilization options without having to buy a large lens like the 18-105 or Tamron 17-70. I’ve been considering moving to the LUMIX G9ii for similar kit size and weight along with more professional settings. The only other options I’ve considered is moving to full frame or just grabbing the a6700 but I’ve heard the Sony IBIS isn’t much to begin with and I appreciate a smaller kit. I shoot mainly handheld reels and shorts and photography for freelance clients. I’m curious what your thoughts are?

Nigel's videos are as good as anyone's, and he does it with affordable gear. You don't need 10 grand in cameras and lenses to make great content.

i have a g7 and its great (right now) i'm using for video and photography is shot a music video and its great not the perfect but its great and maybe if i make some money i going to and upgrade to maybe the s5 or the gh6 or maybe the s5ii because where i live maybe the gh6 its the most expensive the s5 its around 6-700 bucks and the s5ii its around 1200bucks but the gh6 its maybe 1600bucks soo yea the gh6 is not the best deal

Sony A7c with Samyang 35mm f2.8 is the same size as gx9 with the Olympus 17mm f1.4 and not that much more expensive used

After nearly 10 years without a camera. I got a gh5 3 months ago(previously had just cheap canons w MG hacks). Man oh man am I glad I went with a gh5. The camera is so much fun to shoot with. Easy to use, great 1080 video quality and alot of customizable buttons

I've forgot where I've watched it, but someone actually said that the 4:3 was the perfect ratio for anamorphic, and MFT having that as default will always be viable in filmmaking
