Super helpful thanks a ton! Tomorrow I'm going to be doing my first ever oil change and it'll be at home on the driveway for my brother's 370z! I have a huge passion for cars and this Christmas I got a tool set, jack, jack stands, and a torque wrench that I can't wait to use all of them. Anyways I just wanted to say that this video really clarified a lot of things for me, especially finding where to jack and place the stands. Thank you so much you're a really great creator! :D
Really appreciate it! Good luck on your first oil change!
Great video - thank you for the tip re the direction of the crush washer👍
Put the front tires on a couple of 1x6 plywood. You will be able to get to the front jack point.
I’m about to do an oil change on my Z and had no idea about the crush washer. Good video brother!
Just remove the bolts near the back where the oil filter is and fold down the flap to reach the filter
Thanks for the video. Could you please show the location of the oil Temp. sensor.
Nice video very clear new subscribers here from San Diego California
Thanks man hope the video was helpful;
Thanks for the video. My oil change is coming up and I don’t want to pay the dealership again to do it lol.. I’m going to give it a try.
Super easy on this car! Hardest part is jacking the car up and sometimes the filter can get stuck on. But you've got this!
dude you are so informative, how do you not have more subs?
Thanks! I try, it's probably because I don't post very much. appreciate the follow and the views!
Good video! If i dont change my washer, will it leak? Ive done hundreds of oil changes never heard of this
It can, I did mine like 2 times before I knew I was supposed to. I do it just as a safe measure
@drewworkz169 ok ty ill have to grab one next time. So you changed it 2xs without and it never leaked tho eh? Also I grabbed ultra synthetic Fram filter and see alot of ppl say not to use them. Why?
You don't need the engine cover screwed in. I just have mine sitting there for easy removal when necessary. Motul makes the best oil for our cars. Had that ticking noise, especially after hard driving, with Castro edge and Redline. Nothing with Motul no matter how hard I drive. And it's less than $40 and it comes in the exact size our cars take so no need to measure.
Where do you get motul
Not sure what cover your talking about. And what ticking your talking about. If your talking about the lifter ticking/top end noise on these cars it's normal. All I'll say is technically our cars takes Ester oil which is why I use redline because it has a higher ester content then most oils
@@drewworkz169 The cover that sits on top of the engine, the engine cover. You talked about how it gets in the way when adding oil. There's no need to have it screwed in since it's not going anywhere. But I have a G37 and just noticed that you have a strut bar in the way. I keep mine unscrewed so I can just move it out the way when I'm doing stuff under the hood. And was getting a really loud ticking/tapping noise after hard drives after I used an engine cleaner. Probably washed all the ester away. Thought I messed up big time. Tried Redline and was still getting it. Nissan ester oil helped it but was way too expensive getting it from Z1 and my local Nissan dealer didn't carry it anymore. Switched to Motul and no matter how much I beat it, no ticking noise and I'm getting almost 2 miles per gallon better gas mileage.
@@drewworkz169 Are you deleting my comment replying to the other guy telling him where to get Motul from?
@@cooldaddyslick6869 no lol I haven't even gotten a notification that you replied lol
Thanks for the help ! Im going to order the oil kit to do my first rver oil change on my 2013 370Z myself. I also love the tires and rims ur riding on ! What size and brand? The car also sounds great ! What exaust?
Forgestar f14s 19x9.5 front with 19x11 rears and Michelin pilot sport 4s.
Exhaust is an HKS Hipower with the rear muffler section modified
great video ! My z is very low to the ground, if you don’t mind me asking which jack are you using?
I believe this is the model. www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-long-reach-low-profile-professional-rapid-pump-floor-jack-blue-56641.html
If you still can't slide it under get a 2x4 and cut it down to go under your front tires and drive up on it then jack your car up
Aye man just wondering what exhaust you running on this bad boy
Hks hi power with a rear muffler delete but I left the Helmholtz mufflers on the sude
I'm planning on using red line 5w30 as well. How has that oil been for you so far?
Great I'm my 5th oil change now and it runs good and quiet
How long sis it take to do installation? Thanks
Maybe 4 hours if you hit it hard but mine was done over a weekend
Can you fill up the oil filter with some oil or is it better to just oil the top only ?
You probably won't be able to prefill due to the filter being 90° angle on the block
@@drewworkz169 Gotcha thanks about to do this oil change my self I’m tired of paying 100+ for an oil change when I can do it haha
@@drewworkz169I believe that’s why it’s 5q and 120ml of oil lol last car was 5q exactly and said to add some oil into the filter 😭
I’d invest in some race ramps
How many times do you change your oil a year?
That's kinda hard to say because I don't daily the car. I know I do 3,000 mile oil changes.
Every 5k miles , if you don’t drive it that much in 1 year you’re supposed to at least change it once, but every 5k miles is a good benchmark for a daily driver
Don't need jack stands. Oil change takes less than 30 min
I have to use jacks I cannot put the car on ramps or slide underneath lol
nice job my friend. lose the music, its useless...
5w30 is killing your car. 5w40 or 5w50 only. Make sure not to buy 5w30!
Motors have tolerances, Nissan designed it a certain way. 5w30 is what is called for from factory.
@@drewworkz169 at the beginning many people were filling their z's 5w30 ( especially in US). That's why many engines are ruined. 5w30 can't handle temperatures above 100C. In Europe somewhere near 2012 in nissan oem services they changed recommendations for oil ( 5w40 instead 5w30). All because failure of the engines
@@zjadlemciobiad well idk where you got that information from but I know tons of Z guys running factory oil specs and they are well over 120,000 miles
I run a oil cooler my oil temps stay under 200°F. I have never had a issue, show no signs of wear.
@@drewworkz169 Very common knowledge in Europe. Manny z's coming from US to my country need engine rebuild after 5w30 ( all because high temperatures). But if you are running oil cooler its no longer problem, because temperatures are not high anymore. Without oil cooler 5w40 and if you are riding your z in the way its designed 5w50.
@@zjadlemciobiad drewworkz is correct. Follow the manual, engineers know more than you and the hearsay. Change often and you’re fine. The oil flows through channels and tolerances..the makers know what it needs. Blown engines are from people that don’t maintain it and bump the rev limiter constantly.
