- Eqbal Ahmad gave this speech on November 4, 1975 at the University of Michigan during the closing session of the three-day "Bicentennial Dilemma: Who's in Control?" teach-in.
Sadly people of Pakistan don’t know about his work. Equal was way ahead of his time. A pure genius.
I am one of them and I am sorry, I just come across his name and work!
Same here
People who don't know about Iqbal Ahmed, sadly I don't think they are gonna listen to him for long, but if you do, then now you know a poet, a scholar, a humanitarian of the highest caliber.
Listening him again in 2021. Still so relevant. What a genius!
Listening to him for the very first time . Can u something about his work?
I have rarely watched as such clarity of speech and confidence. His discourse is highly rhetorical and compellingly impressive. I love Prof. Iqbal Ahmad, and his first home birth.
that year the political science department at Michigan was rated number one in the country (as was the lsw school). A professor showed this to his lecture of several hundred students.
@@davidrothschild719 did he mention you in the speech?
The 15-minute fisherman’s story was a brilliant way of bringing home to Americans of how they miss the tragedies they are causing the ‘others’.
Watching this after hearing his name from Pervez Hoodbhoy. What a great speaker he was. May his soul rest in eternal peace and his mission of peace prevail on earth.
Watched on Ms. Rida's recommendation and loved the way Eqbal Ahmed delivered the speech in his own confident and bold style! His use of stressed and unstressed words and phrases made the speech even more expressive and full of 'organic' comprehensibility!!
P.s. I don't know how or why, it came to my spontaneous observation that he used the word 'organic' 7 times and each time with same or similar meaning but in different related context! I loved my own natural observation too! 😎
what an orator, a gifted one, Alhamdulillah
This guy was international revolutionary fighting for peace and justice.
Thank you for uploading this! I had no idea Eqbal was such a phenomenal orator.
Eqbal Ahmad's legacy will continue to shine in between the hearts of those.......
Eqbal Ahmed was a giant intellectual. He was on the verge of solving the Palestinian problem if the PLO hadn't defied.
From chomsky, I think he is a great man

Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial.
On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people.
While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there.
I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes but don't you just hate it when people can't let go of your past mistakes.
I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life.
Can we talk?
@@fightermma Wtf?
1 billion hits for Beyonce and 28 for this gentleman...gives you an idea where the world is...
He was a genius.
How disheartening is it that, almost, all Pakistanis don't know him.
the dreamy seer.....
thank you so much +Ibn Al-Buraq! You've done us all a great service by uploading this.
Prior to this, I had only found his 2008 talk at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Do you have more to share?
Can we really have some of his more videos of that time?
''You know I'm not a violent guy, I am a very peaceful son of a b*tch''

Are not there other videos of him like this which you can upload.....
First, Eqbal was the editor of journals like Africa-Asia. Check my ealier response for more info
Iqbal Axmed was wrong about liberalism. He did not understand it. Liberalism has always been a tool of the dominance for the Europeans.
You understand liberism...? Plz explain to me!!
@@mdzahidansari5746 in essence liberalism is tolerance, freedom, giving space, respecting views that do not endorse yours. This is good. But when liberalism is made into an ideology it tends to serve power, the status quo and exploitation. There are liberals who are imperialists and cannot see the contradiction.
👍
Mr Ahmad I mean

'The Big Fish'
@@AsadAli-jc5tg No, I don't think that's the movie he is talking about.
