The Maiden Who Slept in the Glass Coffin
    Words and music by Kirkpatrick
    All leads: Marty Friedman
Shield yourself from all the pain
Let nothing get inside your brain
Ignore the need for others in your life
Stuff all your feelings deep within
Block out the gentle voice from above
Be sure to deflect most of all love
Let your hardened heart close up and die
"Live for myself" the words you live by
The seven kept a vigil by her side
Refusing to believe that she had died
No sign of life in her coffin made of glass
'til a prince her way did pass
A single kiss had brought her back to life
To live and love once more
There lives the prince of peace who waits for you
    Just open up the door

This is Tourniquet's most artful song. Tourniquet might be a Christian metal band, but they exceeded Christian heavy metal with their lyrics by making high art with their delivery. Tourniquet's most artful tracks are Ghost At The Wheel with Bruce Franklin, and Moth Rust Destroy which shows Marty's solos. They should let Marty co-write some of the lyrics.

I'm in India in 2015/16, listening to TOURNIQUET for the first time in 15 years or so.
So, then I have also been reading a book about the SENTINEL ISLANDS which are part of INDIA.
Anyhow, I am listening and load up this album for the first time on youtube as i lay in my room in INDIA, then this song shows up called SENTINEL ISLANDS or something exactly RELATED TO WHAT I was reading.
This happened to me in 2009 November 26 or so, late November, I opened an album and weird coincidence happened back then too.

You should try and enlist Desiree of Rain Fell Within fame; I followed her band in the 2000s as I found my recent friends Novembers Doom on Dark Symphonies. Ted a female vocalist would give Tourniquet a unique dimension -- Gabbie Rae complimented Onward to Freedom as Gwen would been too angry of a vocalist though she's more in-your-face on Grigori 3's second album.

  • @LakeFossilPress

Actually they are both very good but Tourniquet took it to another level -- where Metallica did this with one album merging an orchestra, Tourniquet had orchestration through the entire album on this one, Metallica are icons on their own terms -- that returned to their roots with Death Magnetic, and Tourniquet's 2000s cycle and this album, it is their best work with Luke Easter as vocals as now he is the voice of Tourniquet. I couldn't get into Vanishing Lessons at first

Nickolaus Pacione immunity vector is another amazing arrangement. I got to play it in band class in junior highschool. The teach was so amazed he didn’t know the exact classical pieces being played but he recognized them for sure. I bet it was the first time music like that was played through the speakers.

I don't mean to disrespect Luke Easter, but I wonder if Tourniquet had deeper vocals, they would push over that barrier that has kept them from reaching a much larger audience. I actually felt the same way about Ritter, but on Pathogenic, he showed that he could rein in his vocals enough to work within the music instead of screeching over it.
I sometimes wonder how a Ryan Clark type of vocalist would do with Tourniquet.

    • @maxwelch3791
      @maxwelch3791 7 лет назад

Ryan might do well in this actually. His screams could fit the style.

for Tourniquet if you notice, they have longer songs than most and they have long periods of just their wonderful instrument playing. They're doing just fine, may God continue to bless them forever and ever, amen.

    • @Darbobski
      @Darbobski 3 года назад +2

so its a rough voice, .. how bout "Oh Well" :P .. can't find things wrong with them when its a blessing to hear them, every time I need music hard enough and words not dampening the Spirit. I love Tourniquet for all I've been through these 6 years of being a Widow, their music is everything to me and was left by my passing husband who was a man of God and opened to door to all these wonderful Christian bands the world doesn't know nor care about - but we do. God bless all the Children of God

They're quite good just have years of music to sift through. Also, IMO they're even better than others like Metallica; no offense :P but I feel better after a loud Tourniquet song
