I feel like Danny's mom should be put higher on this list. She genuinely cares about her kids and when she found out her son was actually the ghost that she was hunting, she accepted him without hesitation.
I completely agree.. I was actually surprised that she wasn't higher up and that the rugrat mothers were higher then her. (They were good moms, I loved them but I felt like they didn't notice enough of what the babies did). She did so much for both her kids and even carried Danny on her back. Grant it, she didn't recognize Danny as a ghost but then again, neither did the rest of the town. 🤷🏻♂️ but otherwise I did like this list
Timmy's Mom shouldn't get any points for firing Vicky. She didn't do it because Vicky was torturing Timmy, she did it because she erased the tape. In fact, I think that scene should put her in the bad tier because even while watching Timmy get tortured, she cared more about the tape than his safety.
That was a different episode. The clip they showed was from "Channel Chasers" where Tootie showed them photo evidence of Vicky destroying their house (which they punished timmy for) But Timmy decided to undo this because he was afraid of losing his godparents
Helga was honestly one of the best written nick characters maybe on par with iroh/Zuko she was a bully but still had a lot of good in her it's amazing how she kept it together with how horrible her parents and home life in general was.
Yup. Imagine being constantly compared to your older siblings for things you can't really control and having experienced so little love in your life you are unable to express it properly when you do fall in love.
Giving Charlotte a LITTLE credit, in All Grown Up, when she lost her job, she did realize how much of her daughter's life she missed out on and tried to be a better parent and bond with her child. Obviously, this doesn't excuse the neglect Angelica has been put through for most of her childhood, but gotta give credit where credit is do.
If you saw the episode about Angelica's cookie obsession which showed flashbacks, Charlotte hardly got off her phone to give birth. Minutes after her daughter was born, she was right back on the phone with Jonathan, assuring him that she'll be back in the office tomorrow! That's practically unheard of.
I actually love charlotte there is an early episode where she comes in late to work and Jonathan says something like "Thank god, I thought you had been abducted by eco-terrorists again."
Judie Neutron should be above the rugrats mothers, she never allow her son to run risks just because she was too busy or lazy to take care of him, and she always helped Jimmy when she had the chance
Considering the neutron and oddparent crossovers, it's obvious that Judy is a much more tolerable and lovable parent instead of Mrs. Turner. This also applies to Hugh, who's slow-witted, but has far more positive traits compared to Mr. Turner.
@@Showtunediva She projects her negative emotions onto Arnold and other people. Because Helga is rejected by her family, she feels that other people will reject her as well. Arnold not having rejected her even after all she does to him helps Helga to do the right thing sometimes, although she is still constantly afraid of being rejected by him.
then there was that one episode where the dad was on bed rest, leaving everything to the mom and the mom turned out to be awesome a solid spot of "wow they should get divorced, like, yesterday", the dad is just a terrible person but the mom could be so much/so easily a better person
@@prcervi agreed, miriam would indeed improve so much without bob. we see in various episodes that she used to be like olga, very bright and accomplished. we also see several episodes where bob yells at her or berates her. bob is the main problem. miriam isn't a good mom but she COULD be, without bob.
As Told By Ginger is an underrated nick toon and it is great to see Mrs. Foutley so high in the rankings. I’d like to see a good to evil list for As Told By Ginger please. Great list and I agree with all the rankings for shows I’ve seen.
Putting ursa and timmy's mom in the same tear is mind bubbling. Like one sacrifice her everything to save her child' life and one is so neglectful her son needed another mom to cope with her
It's just people looking too far, Ursa was forced into an abusive marriage bc she was the granddaughter of Roku. She didn't neglect Azula like this fandom neglects to realize. Ozai literally groomed her to being the perfect successor while abusing his wife and physically his son. She really had no choice but to try and help Zuko more bc he was the only child she could really be around and be motherly to.
Ursa can be a good person in a bad situation, but that does not mean she is a good mother. And Timmy’s mother is not a good mother and she is not the brightest bulb out there but she have a similar level of parental care to Ursa regardless who you think is better. I think they both placed well on the list.
If I may, regardless of the circumstances, both Ozai and Ursa are bad by picking favorites. Yes, Ursa was in a bad situation, but she could've tried to find common ground with Azula. Azula thought Ursa didn't love her and believed Ursa thought she was a monster. I honestly don't blame her for feeling like this, if all Azula received from Ursa was scolding. Ursa didn't even say goodbye to her daughter when she disappeared
@@solarisuzumaki8877because Azula was a monster. She exhibited monster vibes the moment she started abusing animals for her entertainment and even getting Zuko to do it that one time.
@@Drums_of_Liberation That may be, but Ursa could've tried to pay her kids equal attention. Azula may have been a monster, but she still deserved maternal love
She wasn't bad early on hell there was an episode that I still remember where she and Timmy's Dad became superheroes for the sole reason to keep Timmy safe. These days, you wonder if they even care for his well being anymore. Four words: "GIVE US THE BOY!!!"
I agree with most of the list, except for Timmy’s mom. She should be on the evil part. She and her husband are part of the reasons why Timmy has fairies. She cares for him sometimes, but in others she doesn’t give a crap, like, not obliviously, but actively, doesn’t care. By the end of the day she’s super neglective.
@@claudiabenigno2796 While Gertie's mind wasn't always "there", thinking that Thanksgiving day was the 4th of July, she always came through in the end and was more then capable of taking care of Arnold, her husband, and the borders, if somewhat wacky and encenteric, 😂
The part about Rita Loud really speaks volumes. Far too many people tend to dunk on her and her husband as bad parents, and yet a lot of their good moments are overshadowed by the criticisms (no matter how warranted some of it is). Her kids clearly haven’t turned out to be complete disasters, so she deserves more credit when it comes to being a stand-up mom.
there is also a fact no one is taking into consideration, compared to many multi-child families, Rita Loud NEVER left the care of the youngest to her eldest children, she was always hands-on in all of her child education. Far from it! She has tried to be as hands-on and present on each of her child lives as she can and only ask her two eldest for help from time to time in case of need (transportation mostly and in a few rare times, caring for them while she and her husband work or need some really deep free time) most of the time? She and her husband try their best to be there for them and ensure that they have all their needs meet (although they need to stretch their money pretty hard) and to pamper them from time to time whenever there is a chance. They try their best but with so many children it is hard. Yeah, some of the criticisms are warranted but then again, she is one mother for eleven children, and at times, time, budget and schedule makes it almost imposible for her to have time to unwind and relax and be alone, which ends up in her stress level being so high that she makes those terrible mistakes
@@eileenkelleghan680 agreed. alot of people need to give this kind of cartoon mom more slack. kids are stretched for more entertainment and action are made for sake of the story.
The Good 👼: 1st Place 🥇: Kya 2nd Place 🥈: Dr. Nora Wakeman 3rd Place 🥉: Marianne Thornberry 4th Place: Kira Finster 5th Place: Lois Foutley 6th Place: DeeDee Pickles 7th Place: Rita Loud 8th Place: Maria Rivera 9th Place: Betty Deville 10th Place: Pema 11th Place: Maddie Fenton 12th Place: Judy Neutron 13th Place: Wanda The Grey Area ☹️: 14th Place: Fire Lady Ursa 15th Place: Toph 16th Place 🥉: Mrs. Turner The Bad To Evil 😈: 17th Place 🥈: Charlotte Pickles Last Place 🥇: Miriam Pataki
I have not watched the more recent Nicktoons but as far as the ones I have watched Kira and Betty should be switched & Lois Foutley should be in Nora Wakeman’s spot. Judy Neurtron and Charlotte Pickles should be in the grey area.
To be fair, it is Bobs nature that caused Miriam to be a layabout; she said that it was a mistake marrying him too quickly and didn’t want Olga to do the same. Helga probably told her mom about giving up the boots to help Arnold since she did basically did the same for Helga, was proud of her and they kept their Good Samaritan acts between themselves, it is not shown onscreen and thus cannot be proven. I think Timmy’s mom is worse than she is.
Miriam a better mother and parent figure than her husband and Timmy's mom, despite drinking her "smoothies", being somewhat out of it from them and being distracted with her eldest daughter.
Well, that definitely makes Timmy's mom more worse than Helga's mom. Miriam has much of her malfunctions due to Bob. What excuse does Timmy's mom for her behavior? Also, don't say it is because of Timmy's dad because I won't accept that excuse without a good reason.
@Storm Arashi Wow. Thanks for the info. This is worst than having no excuse. Neglect is one thing but it pales in comparison to pure intent. That should have made Timmy's mom the more evil than Helga's mom.
@Storm Arashi Yup and the fact there was that episode where Timmy goes to an alternate world they were richer for having a daughter. Like how does having a daughter suddenly make them richer? So they basically didn't feel the need to provide for Timmy better just cause he was a boy...The more you look back on a lot of episodes the more you really hate Timmy's parents.
I lowkey feel like Lois Foutley could’ve gotten the silver spot. She’s easily one of the most realistic parent characters for kids cartoons, and was one of the earlier recollections I have of a single parent household in kids cartoons.
Raising twins can be very tricky. I am one, and my mother did the best she could to allow my twin and I be ourselves and loved us both equally. So yeah, I can appreciate how Betty raised Phil and Lil
I still wonder how it was possible for Betty and Howard to mix their kids up so much. Not only were they opposites sexes, Lil wore a dress and pink botties while Phil wore shorts and blue botties, plus in later seasons they had different earlobes. All it took was for the pink hair bow to end up on Phil and everybody assumed he was Lil and vice versa. Doesn't make any sense.
Charlotte is actually a pretty complex character, if you really start to analyze her. She's very career-driven and seems to love and be good at her job, which is a high-powered CEO of a large corporation, I think, and this leads to her constantly being preoccupied with work. I think that it's the guilt from always being busy that leads Charlotte and Drew to spoil Angelica and overlook her bratty behavior. One could argue that they buy her toys and other material possessions to keep her amused and out of their hair; but I think they're trying to make up for their (unintentional) neglect. They really do love Angelica, as evidenced by Drew purchasing a crystal statue of her, and they usually make time to take her to dance practice, art class, pageants, talent shows, and a host of other activities, and seem to believe that she has a great deal of talent and potential. I think they tend to overlook her behavior because that would be admitting their own shortcomings as parents, but they are willing to put their foot down if she becomes too demanding, disrespectful or is doing something that may lead to her being harmed.
Charlotte Pickles brings to mind another cartoon mom: Helen Morgendorffer. Like Charlotte, Helen is a career driven mom, pursuing a top position at her law firm. And like Charlotte, she's no pushover as a parent and will discipline her daughters, Daria and Quinn, when it calls for it. At the same time, she feels guilty that her work and her career ambitions take up more of her time than spending time with her family.
Yes damn right she always had her kids back in any situation and a good advice giver when ginger needs it and there for Carol so he doesn't commit arson
Honestly, I always thought Helga's parents were the worst because they're so REAL. There's not a lot of real-life parents that treat their kid like Timmy Turner's. . . but there are a lot of parents who just. . .stop caring for one child. Stop putting in effort and start neglecting. There's a ton of kids who are constantly compared to older siblings. A ton of kids who's parents are alcoholics. I feel like it's the worse because so many people face the reality of it every day. It's a very real kind of horrible. And because of that, it's PERFECT to show children. To show children that 'Yeah, this sucks. But you're not alone'.
Wow, if Helga's Mom is the worst mom on the list then that means that none of the worst of Nickelodeon moms are actually not truly evil but at worst are just neglectful
@Jessie Rubio , no the worstest, but just saying, Bad Parents and Evil Nanny are the reasons he got Fairly Godparents in the first place, and why he keeps them
I’m going to put Lois from Ginger and Maryann from Wild Thonberries as the best. I also think Charlotte is a good mom, but just wanted the world and nothing wrong with that.
I do think Miriam has potential to improve, if she gets help for her drinking problem and recognizes her favoritism issues. I also noticed hints in the show that she's not happy in her marriage to Big Bob, so maybe she should leave him, too.
Agreed it's sad they couldn't include what we learn in the comics, she really was basically a slave in an arranged marriage bc of the idea pairing Roku's granddaughter with the rich bloodline of the firelords and the way Ozai was to Zuko push her close with him, it's not like she didn't care about Azula just Ozai controlled everything and she was only one person. She never wanted to leave her kids but that was the only way to save her sons life I hate when that gets against her in the fandom.
The best part is where Iroh and Ursa reunite and he apologized for all the pain Ozai put her through, though she tells him he was one of the better parts of her life while she was with Ozai.
Honestly I didn't like Ursa in comics. In the show she was strong and determined to protect her children even by killing someone. In the comics? Oh no, I won't be able to see my children again, I rather erase them from my memories. So she wasn't bothered that her children were left alone in hands of a monster? She didn't even try to come up with ANYTHING for them. That's just two different characters. It would be SO much better if she wanted a new face and ONLY new face so she could come back to the palace as a servant to watch over her children in any way she could, but a gray morality of spirits made it so with new face she forgot her old life. Forgetting her children would NOT be what she wanted but an unseen consequences for her.
A couple of mom's you left out are Good Maria Santiago & Frida Casagrande from The Loud House/ The Casagrandes - Despite her job always keeping her busy Maria loves and cares for Ronnie Annie & Bobby and even gave up her dream of traveling the world so she could take care of them. Frida a very loving mother to her four kids though she does get incredibly emotional and clingy and often like her husband Carlos has his parents Rosa & Hector watch her youngest kids. Both would have ranked in the Good section. Virginia Wolfe fron Rocko's Modern Life - Hoffer's adopted mother who like the rest of her family grew to love him as their own. Catdog's Mom from Catdog The Grey Area Joanne Bishop from As Told by Ginger - Very controlling and overreacts to everything especially when it comes to her kids. Two of her worst moments were when Hoodsey got amnesia and she kept Carl far away from her son do to her dislike of Carl whose always giving her trouble and sees as a bad influence on Hoodsey in another she forbids Dodie and Hoodsey from hanging out with Ginger & Carl after getting into a fight with Lois at the supermarket which led to her suffering a heart attack. Regardless she does care for her kids and admits she goes overboard. Stella Shortman from Hey Arnold - Same reason why her husband Miles was in the grey section of Nicktoon dads Good to Evil was forced to live Arnold to go on what was suppose to be a short mission to San Lorenzo but never came back. Bad/Evil Widow Hutchinson from Rocko's Modern Life - She strongly disapproved of her daughter Paula's marriage to Filburt as she believes cats and turtles should never coexist with one another despite the fact that she was married to a turtle. Dr. Dave's Mom from As Told by Ginger - She tried to sabotage her own son's wedding all because she hates Lois and used her friends and hired a transvestite to impersonate her son's ex girlfriend and when he whole scheme was exposed she didn't even try to deny it. Pamela Manson from Danny Phantom - Seriously how was she not on the list she's way worse then Miriam as she's extremely controlling and tries to force Sam to change everything about her for her own benefit.
Also mrs big head from rockos modern life she was so accepting of Rachel when she saw her even going as far as giving Rachel some clothes which most likely meant a lot to her
Woah you seriously gonna rank Ursa so badly?! That woman had her life, love, and family ripped away from her just to force her to make a bloodline more powerful! Obviously it would be hard for her to fully love children she was FORCED to birth with a monster! Zuko had more humanity in him which is why she was closer to him then the daughter who reminded her too much of the man who ruined her life. Still she loved both of them and her sacrifice for Zuko’s life should at least put her out of the grey zone! Seriously did you ignore her backstory in the comics on purpose?!
If I’m being honest I feel like her story in the comics took a drastic turn from how she was in the series, Forced children or not she still loved Zuko and Azula immensely and tried to make it work with Ozai I’d say for their sake until her banishment. I find it hard to believe that she’d willingly go erase her memories and change her face just to be with her previous love and have another kid, it already showed by her poisoning Azulon that she’d do anything to protect her kids and that she’d bite back if they were threatened which she did. Despite everything that happened it just seemed like Bryke did her dirty by having her quietly disappear into a new life trusting that Ozai wouldn’t go back on his word, I honestly would rank her higher if her story wasn’t continued the way it was in the comics but thats just my take
@@shakeymistakey3881 I read the comic. She tried getting a new face to go back to the city just to get a chance to see her children at ALL. But while looking for the spirit to do it she found herself truly happy for the first time in over a DECADE. The spirit offered to change her memory, & Ozai was ruthless with him in power he would have not let her back. She tried to take BOTH of her children but he forbidden it & threatened to kill them if she did. So she chose to forget....
OOF, Mary-Anne ABSOLUTELY deserved the second slot at bare minimum. She actually parents her children, gives life advice, and attention. Yes, she has her career, but Mary-Anne has saved the lives of her children and her family so many times it's unheard of. She really deserves to be number 1. Kaya's sacrifice is admirable, and absolutely saved Katara, but because of that act, Kaya literally couldn't be a mother after that point. She wasn't there for Katara or Sokka, and the kids were largely yaffected by this. Yes, sacrifice is important, but Mary-Anne made multiple sacrifices, put her own life in danger to protect her children more than the once, and always gave her all even when her all wasn't that much.
Hello wickedbinge! This video is so fun and I appreciate how much effort all of you put into these kinds of videos! 👍🏻 and also as for Miriam (of course I still naturally thinks she deserves the gold medal for most horrible Nickelodeon mom,) I do think there is one other sweet moment in the show which is in the thanksgiving special, when Helga goes outside for the day without telling them and when she comes back we get to see Miriam frantically on the phone desperately trying to get her daughter back. And while this it is partly her fault that helga left I do still think this is a sweet moment for Miriam, that at least shows the audience that Miriam does love Helga
It makes sense why Didi is a good mom. She's a teacher and being one requires high intelligence and the perfect combination of understanding and assertiveness.
In psychology, the two "good" parenting styles are warm and firm (i.e. Didi). The two "bad" parenting styles are cold and loose (i.e. Charlette). I put good and bad in parentheses because good/bad parenting varies by ambiguous factors such as culture and morals. A tiger mom for example might consider Charlette to be a great parent.
@@lStranger Though in an episode of "All Grown Up!" where Angelica is sent to stay with Susie and her family to learn about the importance of hard work, self-reliance, and impulse control; Charlotte actually enjoyed having her nephew Dil over to essentially feel a bit less lonely even though she had the company of her husband Drew. This particular moment made me smile and also be grateful for the good relationship I have with my niece Brooke. I am extremely proud of Brooke for making it into the National Honor Society, taking all A.P. classes, and being the standout member of the Color Guard (flag twirlers for the marching band.) She's in her Senior year of high school and I have a hunch that Brooke will graduate as class valedictorian. She also took some college classes while she was in her Junior year and will be awarded two years worth of college credits upon graduation.
@@michaellovely6601 Good for you and your niece. I unfortunately don't understand what you are trying to tell me with regards to my earlier comment. I will say however that any parent who cares about their kids will miss them when they move out or live somewhere else temporarily. Although Charlette was rather distant and stoic towards Angelica, she did seem to genuinely care about her daughter. As for your niece's accomplishments, did you mean to say she will have 2 course-loads worth of credits? 2 years worth would mean she has completed approximately 60 to 80 college credits, which is about 16 to 18 college courses. I'm sure it happens, but a person of that achievement would already be a full time college student and a very rare prodigy at that. Regardless, your neice seems like an exceptionally smart and hard working individual. Just let her know that you're proud of her even if she doesn't get to be validictorian. Many college students get a great deal of anxiety when they feel pressured to be among the best in their class. Some have unfortunately even developed depression over it. College students are vulnerable to social pressures because they often feel that they need to succeed at everything or else their life is over.
@@lStranger Well; by my comment I meant that Charlotte was actually capable of putting her foot down with Angelica but at the same time genuinely loved and cared for Angelica along with her nephews Tommy and Dil as well as their friends. My niece would take a few college classes during her Sophomore and Junior years of high school; which is why she will be awarded two years worth of college credits upon graduation from high school. She's extremely smart and hardworking and even if she doesn't graduate as Valedictorian of her high school class I will be proud of her. I work in the Dietary Department of my local hospital and I have let my sister know that I will be more than happy to make a few party trays for my niece's high school graduation party. The three biggest selling party trays for high school and college graduation parties are the fresh fruit tray, fresh vegetable tray and the cheese and crackers tray. This is quite understandable given how it's summertime and people really want light fresh food to eat.
While I DO agree in giving Rita credit where credit is due as a mother, she isn't without her failings. Here are three instances where I think she AND Lynn Sr. could use some parenting tips or classes. 1. While it WAS supposedly meant to "teach Lincoln a lesson" about telling a white lie; having her family ostracize him, kick him out of the house, board up his room, give him the impression that she burnt down his bed AND forcing him to wear a mascot suit to everything his family does are all good reasons for Child Protective Services a call. That's not even including the fact that she allowed Lynn Jr. to bully Lincoln into coming to her ball game with a bat. 2. She lets her daughters get away with almost everything and doesn't quite discipline them for any of the big stuff; such as Lola blackmailing her siblings, Lisa experimenting on them, Lori waving her driver's license over their heads like the Sword of Damocles or punishing Lana for bringing so many dangerous beasts into their home (man-eating snakes, a gator, a rat etc.) 3. Speaking of letting the Loud Sisters get away with stuff, she and Lynn did nothing to stop them during their...reprehensibly idiotic Sister Fight Protocol. Any other parent would've exerted some sort of firm authority over such behavior (regardless of how many children they have) but what do the Loud Parents do...hide like cowards. Until she can step up and remedy these errors, Rita is far from being the perfect mother. In actuality, she's right smack dab in between Maddie Fenton and Mrs. Turner
Lynn Jr said Lola is good at covering her tracks, that means the parents wouldn't know about Lola blackmailing her siblings. Most of the sisters rotten behavior is done when the parents aren't home.
Also the fact that neither Rita or Lynn have ACTIVELY tried to stop Luan's annual torture of the family AKA April Fool's Day. Whenever I watched the April Fool's Day episodes, I'm just thinking "You're her PARENTS! Try acting like it!"
I feel like Pema should have been higher on the good tier, she's a very caring mother and even though she wanted a normal non bending child, she allowed her kids to face danger because she knew her kids were strong and could handle themselves.
Mrs Turner is probably the worst mom since none of the others have the line "at first I didnt think the kids would like being sent to the lernatorium all summer-then I thought Who cares"
I don't say Miriam is evil, she's just really incompetent. Unlike bob, miriam actually seems like she does care about helga, but just seems always too out of it to act on it. I think mrs Turner is a much worse mother than her because she purposefully neglects timmy to have fun and has shown multiple times that of the valuable things in her life, timmy is at the bottom.
One of my favorite memories of Dede is when the babies are talking about their first memory of their mothers in the Mother’s Day episode. Timmy describes being in what he thinks is a fish tank and being confused, until Dede comes over to him and holds his hand and Timmy describes how he suddenly felt safe when she did so. It’s just so sweet.
@@ShowtunedivaI wondered why Angelica was always so mean to her cousin and friends sometimes I thought they were mean to her as well even when she became more nicer in the spin off series like when Charlotte sent her to spend the week at the Carmichael's after she starts whining about not going to Hawaii and everyone was betting she'd cave in defeat I always did wonder why not going to Hawaii made her brattier than usual kicking stuff talking back to her parents saying she deserves atleast six broken curfews even though her mom said they'd go next year even I who defend characters like her thought she was being a brat and was really asking for it
Charlotte I may have put in neutral territory. She was pretty neglectful 90% of the time, but was never malicious. She did have moments of clarity and did obviously love her daughter and care for her wellbeing. Timmy's mom deserves Charlotte's spot in the evil category. Even in the moments where she does seem to care for Timmy, it's always self-serving and there is always an ulterior motive for her sudden concern. Timmy is barely an afterthought to her. Helga's mom definitely deserves that bottom spot....I'd argue that what her and her husband put Helga through crosses over into straight up child abuse, especially the movie.
Didi-needs to drop those Lipshitts books and use her instincts Maddie-is equally as bad as her husband Ursa-Azula would most likely turned out the same with or without Ursa Charlotte-just lose the phone can improve her 70%
@Will N You don't see her trying to kill her son once she found out, none of the two times. Yes, two times because Danny decided to delete everyone's memories the first time he (accidentally) gave the reveal. Both of Danny's parents are very supportive of their son when they find out the truth, in fact
I think more of the “As Told By Ginger” moms should have included, especially in the lower/bad tiers to highlight the issue of cluelessness, neglect or disregard for their children while they did have a noted influence in them, like Joann Bishop, Roberta Lightfoot, and Claire Gripling.
You forgot a BIG contender for the bottom of this list. Arpa Default from Robot and Monster. She showed HIGH parental favouritism of Gart over Robot and shut the latter out of the family business for his birth defect! She didn't even give him a proper name. Darlene from Sanjay and Craig and Miriam from Harvey Beaks should also be high in the good tier.
Zuko's mom should have been golden mom. She's got everything Katara's mom has, except that unlike Katara's mom, she had to keep protecting Zuko long term, not just the one shot instance.
Helga’s mom is not evil. Shes just depressed because her husband is neglecting her family, and so she uses drinking to cope with it. This causes her to sometimes neglect her youngest. It is clear that with her eldest daughter she did not have this drinking problem but in some episodes like the road trip and helga on the couch, you see that she is truly saddened at the neglect that she placed on her youngest.
Saddened yet she doesn’t do anything to stop it. Just being sad about it does not redeem her. She actually has to do some thing in order for her to be redeemable. also depression is no excuse for neglect. If anything, she should’ve used that as a motivation to care for both of her daughters equally not just one over the other. It was clear that Helga needed both of her parents, but neither were really ever there for her. There are sometimes They were, but most of the time they weren’t. While not evil, she is most certainly not a good mom. I still don’t consider her to be quite as bad as her husband, Bob, but she is still not that much better.
You forget Doug's mom, Thela. She was a pretty good Mom. I think the only real mistake she made as a Mom was naming her daughter Cleopatra Dirtbike. While she did that to applease both Judy and Doug as they picked those names, still what was she thinking. Oh and leaving her children with that rule-obessed babysitter. Other than that, Thela was a kind, loving yet fair and firm Mom.
Miriam and Bob are both pretty bad parents but it is clear Helga has much more in common with her dad Big Bob. there have been times when Bob genuinely looks like he feels bad when he messes up dealing with Helga and he tries to fix his mistakes in his own way. this might be why Miriam doesn't pay attention to Helga most of the time, she clearly regrets marrying Bob and the two of them rarely spend much time together unless they have to for their daughters and Miriam dislikes spending much time with Helga cause she is a little bit like Bob in some ways. Olga is probably the favorite cause she might be a lot like the Miriam used to be before she married Bob and ruined her life and Bob loves Olga more cause he just wants a successful child he doesn't have to worry about and he can brag about her to make himself look like a successful parent (Olga does have all those trophies in their house that Bob is always bragging about).
I'm defending Jimmy's mom only because the show takes place back in the older days and kids had more independence at the time and also jimmy hated being coddled and saw spending time doing small stuff was beneath him in a sense
I think one of the bigger missing mother characters of this list is Katara, I'd say she'd be in the good tier, there's not a whole lot of info about her as a mother though so maybe that's why.
I dunno if mrs Wakeman deserves the silver medal. While she loves Jenny she treats her other 8 daughters as failures, keeping them shutoff and put away, even refusing to use them when the cluster were taking over the planet
What really places Miriam Pataki in the worst for me is the fact that she literally gave her daughters the same name: Olga and Helga mean the same thing just in different languages, Russian and German.
I don't like that Maria, lying to her kids about moving is NEVER a good thing. She knew they have a good life, friends, and love in Royal Woods but she didn't care She uprooted them without a second thought. PS. That family sucks.

Okay but regarding Ursa. She has 'favored' Zuko, because Azula was way too far into Ozai's mentality. All while Zuko was constantly berated and humiliated by Ozai. So that's why she was more protective of him, because until Iroh came back, he had no one. She did encourage Zuko and Azula to bond, and only wanted to correct Azula's bad behavior. It was her son in mortal danger ffs, of course she was more protective of him. But before being exiled, she wanted to take BOTH children with her. And Ozai threatened to hurt/kill the BOTH of them. So she left alone. She said goodbyes to both of her children, but only Zuko was briefly awake. It's 100% Ozai's fault. She was trapped in a loveless marriage, unable to see her friends and family, her mail was being intercepted, and everyone but Iroh were horrible. In comparison to the Royal family, Zuko was kind of like a 'runt' and treated like so, so she just considered her to be extra protective for him.
It is has been confirmed in the Mother’s Day special of The Rugrats, Tommy was a premature (or premmie) birth which explains why Didi is so dependent on Dr. Lipschitz’s advice. My own mother is a nurse who specializes in handling premmies.
I like how they completely gloss over the fact Rita Loud literally kicked Lincoln out of the house just because she thought he was bad luck, that alone honestly should put her in the morally grey category if you ask me.

I noticed Lucille/Lucy Carmichael (Susie Carmichael's mom) wasn't on the video list. Of all the Rugrat moms, she had the least amount of screentime. If I were to rank her, I would put her in the Good category above or near Kira. Reasons: 1) As a doctor, she helped Didi with delivering Dil (and might possibly have helped Didi with her pregnancy), 2) like Lois Foutley, despite her demanding medical work, she is still a good and involved mom with her four kids, and 3) in an All Grown Up episode, she, along with her husband, didn't let Angelica get away with not following the house rules while she was staying with them for a few days.
@@ShowtunedivaI agree too the Carmichaels are probably the best parents in rugrats especially with how they handled angelica in the in the family's way episode speaking of which I almost doubted my sanity when I thought susie and the gang were being mean to angelica in that episode wanting her to fail at something that wasn't their business and enjoying her struggling even though she became nicer as a teenager but susie's parents punished their kids for changing the chore chart and almost causing angelica to hurt herself which susie reluctantly apologized for susie's really nice but when dealing with angelica she seems to stoop down to Angelica's level

Ursa actually did try to not let Ozai have influence on Azula. Sadly it was fruitless. I don't fault her, she did what she had to do to ensure Zuko's survival. Azula is a narcissistic sociopath who cares little for anyone around her, other than herself.
the Ursa take was bullshit she was a good mother to Azula and did everything she could to reach out to her, discipline her, and love her just as much as Zuko. Ursa cared about Azula just as much as Zuko and probably put more effort into raising her than him. She did what she could to protect Zuko but she was actively fighting an uphill battle to pull Azula away from Ozai's influence under his nose she didn't care for Azula less than Zuko; Azula was just less responsive to that care.
In Nick toons dads good to evil they put Lynn Loud Sr as the most good I was like what no way he has his faults which is most noticeable in No Such Luck
Mother’s you missed(No grandparents so no Rosa Casagrande, Momma Cosma, or any grandmothers.) Queen Vexus: Most Evil She’s a bad parent to Vega and tried to kill Jenny and her daughter after Vega found out about Vexus’s crimes. Catdog’s mom: End of Good She’s nice to her children even though they aren’t related. Unlike her husband’s cynical, sarcastic, but still caring personality, she loved her children from the start. But she’s at the end because she didn’t have much time to raise Catdog since they were taken by a tornado. Frida Casagrande: Good While extremely emotional, she deeply cares for her family and her kids. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body but the other mothers have done more. Maria Santiago: Good A nurse who’s job leaves her little time with her kids, her solution is to move to an apartment with a ton of family. Since Ronnie Anne does a lot around the house, she wanted to move so she’d have company but let her know that they’d never move if she didn’t want to. Stella Shortman: Grey She was a bit hard to rank. First, she left her child for an extremely long time but Stella left to cure the Green Eyed people of a disease that was spreading fast because they did so much for her family. I think the Grey area is best suited here since while she was out of Arnold’s life for a long time, it was out of her control. Karen: Good Yeah she was a parent to Chip and was a surprisingly good one. Yeah Chip did run away and cursed at his mother but Plankton told him to leave and for the swearing, he did that as a teen which is normal for teenagers. Joanne Bishop: Evil She’s a mother who doesn’t know or wants to know her daughter’s life and is rude to everyone around her.
From your description of Maria, she sounds more good than grey. She did what she had to do to provide for her children and like you said, she didn’t force them and gave them the choice about moving.
Didi being over protective is understandable. In the Mother’s Day episode Tommy tells memory about being in a “fish tank”. Realizing that the fish tank was really an incubator. Meaning Tommy was born premature. So those books were probably her way of coping. Think she was a bit more relaxed in All Grown Up considering the child phycology books stop at 5.
I don't think Miriam is evil and would put her in the gray area based on the fact that she suffers from a crippling addiction to "smoothies." She also seems depressed as well so I find it hard to call her evil in any capacity.
To her credit there were times when she at least ATTEMPTED to be a decent mother in episodes like Road Trip and Beeper Queen. She’s still bad overall and even with those good points her development never stuck, but it’s more endearing than much of what’s seen of Timmy’s mom who as time went on never even tried to care for her son and wasn’t the least bit subtle about not wanting him.
Deedee deserved to be higher. She went back to school to get a degree in child development after she realized she couldn’t completely rely on Dr. Lipschitz.
You forgot Chucky's biological mother, who use to play with him and wrote a poem for her son before she died. It's easy to glorify dead moms since they can exist more as an idea, and ideas tend to not have flaws. It was a very common trope. But it is a little surprising she doesn't get an honorable mention.
My theory on Toph's kids being different is that Suyin and Lin represent two different types of earth: Boulders (Lin) and sand (Suyin). Lin represents boulders because like a boulder she can be stubborn and hard to work with but once you're able to break through with her she's a reliable and helpful. It is shown with Lin's friendship with Korra through the series. At first the two didn't get along, but once Korra broke through Lin's stubbornness Lin became one of Korra's best alies. Suyin is sand because like sand alone she was ever changing--thus why she was able to combine dancing with earth/metal bending--and relied on others to shape her being just as sand need other elements to be shaped into something like a sandcastle. With a bad crowd of people for friends, Suyin was molded into a troublemaker, but when she was send to live with her grandparents she was molded into a better person.
Charlotte seemed to be a commentary of the 'new age' of moms that appeared in the 1980's who seemed to be more concerned with their jobs or reputations than their parenting.
So Lynn Sr. is the number one dad on your guy's best Nicktoon Dad's and Rita is number 7, and I'm not being sarcastic when I'm saying this: it makes perfect sense!
I do not defend Mariam, her motherly skills need work like BIG time but I can't help but remember the episode where Helga and her mom are on a trip and the car breaks down. Mariam and Helga are stuck in the middle of nowhere pretty much and Mariam competes in a mechanical bull riding contest to win money to fix the car. There was some bonding in that episode. Honestly, I think that Mariam gets put down so much by Bob that she feels pretty worthless and unhappy in her life. I mean when Mariam becomes the beeper queen the first view of Bob's office you can see a picture of her and Bob on the wall. It's not that hard to notice that there are darts that have been thrown at her. Since it's Bob's office it's obvious that he's the one who threw them at her. It seems like in the episodes that she takes charge she becomes a better mom because she likes herself. Plus, Helga is so much like her dad that she puts her mom down just like Bob. So there is no bonding between Miriam and Helga because Helga only sees the alcoholic that her mother is and not the strong individual that her mother can be. It's really sad when you think about it.
Please do a Ducktales reboot good to evil, most good: Santa, Launchpad, or Zan Owlson(the times she got mad were called for because she had to work with evil people with the minds of children and stubborn billionaires and actually cares for people and was doing a great job as mayor of Saint Canard), Grey: Gyro, most evil: Bradford.

Only two evil moms and that's it?
Danny Phantom is my all time favorite show and part of my world
Timmy's Mom shouldn't get any points for firing Vicky.
She didn't do it because Vicky was torturing Timmy, she did it because she erased the tape. In fact, I think that scene should put her in the bad tier because even while watching Timmy get tortured, she cared more about the tape than his safety.
... that was a different episode called "Vicky gets fired"
It was an extremely torturous episode for Timmy
That was a different episode. The clip they showed was from "Channel Chasers" where Tootie showed them photo evidence of Vicky destroying their house (which they punished timmy for)
But Timmy decided to undo this because he was afraid of losing his godparents
That was a different episode :/
Mrs.Turner is a bad parent but her & Mr.Turner are so stupid they thought Vicky was playing and not forreal
Helga was honestly one of the best written nick characters maybe on par with iroh/Zuko she was a bully but still had a lot of good in her it's amazing how she kept it together with how horrible her parents and home life in general was.
Helga became a bully as a survival mechanism.
She basically has the same name as her sister.
@@VoiceOfTheEmperor yeah. She became a bully out of neglect and mistreatment
She also got her bully tendonses from her father. She pretty much treated everybody the same why Big Bob treated people.
Q.
I actually love charlotte there is an early episode where she comes in late to work and Jonathan says something like "Thank god, I thought you had been abducted by eco-terrorists again."
Fair enough
Charlotte was a nice woman, she was just too busy.
Judie Neutron should be above the rugrats mothers, she never allow her son to run risks just because she was too busy or lazy to take care of him, and she always helped Jimmy when she had the chance
I mean the whole point of rugrats are first time parents.
Well, the parents are supposed to be oblivious or else the show wouldn’t work, lol.
You know Jimmy was in trouble when she stated his full name..."James Issac Neutron!!"
Will N What about Chuckie?
Considering the neutron and oddparent crossovers, it's obvious that Judy is a much more tolerable and lovable parent instead of Mrs. Turner. This also applies to Hugh, who's slow-witted, but has far more positive traits compared to Mr. Turner.
SO Helga has the second most evil Nick father and the most evil Nick mother. That explains a lot.
But her obsession for Arnold keeps her from being an evil character
@@cnsayin8847 true. However I think that is very creepy.
@@Showtunediva
She projects her negative emotions onto Arnold and other people. Because Helga is rejected by her family, she feels that other people will reject her as well. Arnold not having rejected her even after all she does to him helps Helga to do the right thing sometimes, although she is still constantly afraid of being rejected by him.
then there was that one episode where the dad was on bed rest, leaving everything to the mom and the mom turned out to be awesome
a solid spot of "wow they should get divorced, like, yesterday", the dad is just a terrible person but the mom could be so much/so easily a better person
@@prcervi agreed, miriam would indeed improve so much without bob. we see in various episodes that she used to be like olga, very bright and accomplished. we also see several episodes where bob yells at her or berates her. bob is the main problem. miriam isn't a good mom but she COULD be, without bob.

Timmy's mom is awful, she's part of the reason why he has fairies
And just for a lie
Yeah. I noticed.
She wasn't bad early on hell there was an episode that I still remember where she and Timmy's Dad became superheroes for the sole reason to keep Timmy safe. These days, you wonder if they even care for his well being anymore. Four words: "GIVE US THE BOY!!!"
She even wish Timmy was a girl
No Wanda Wished Timmy to be a girl. Well Cosmo turned him into one rather.
Yeah, even Mr. Turner is a slightly better parent because he has his moments of spending time with Timmy with one of their shared hobbies.
i feel you should've included arnold's grandma somewhere on good tier, while not his mother, she's the closest person to a mother he's got.
I agree. I didn't realize she wasn't on here.
She is a mother though, just not his.
Gertie was still very compassionate not only to Arnold, but to other people, and will fight for what is right. Underrated mom/grandma
@@claudiabenigno2796 While Gertie's mind wasn't always "there", thinking that Thanksgiving day was the 4th of July, she always came through in the end and was more then capable of taking care of Arnold, her husband, and the borders, if somewhat wacky and encenteric, 😂
@@joannacrickenberger7627 True. She was my fave grandparent in the Cartoon world.
Lets not forget Rita stood toe to toe with a mother wolverine to protect her kids in the episode Camped.

@@JGProductions6581 she wasn’t on the good To Evil ranking, for some reason, I based it off the Ranking that was chosen by WickedBinge
@@jedyoung767 I have not watched Avatar yet so I cannot rate this character accurately.
Granted. But that’s a motive, not a justification.
Same! I was kinda thinking she would have been the Gold or Silver tier Nicktoon Mom!
@@StarViewer68Exactly! I'm not sure why she didn't get ranked a bit higher, honestly, but am ok with the spot she got.
In All Grown-Up, I believed that Betty anticipated that the twins, particularly Lil, would want their own room. She knew it was coming.
My parents were like that. They used objects and money as substitutes for their time and affection... it can really mess you up later in life.
Lois Foutley is probably the best Nick Mom ever!

Good morning I was wondering if
Honestly, I always thought Helga's parents were the worst because they're so REAL.
Watching this reminds me of much I love my mom and how grateful and thankful I am to have her in my life. I love you mommy
I love my mommy even though she got stressed at the smallest of things.,

I also think Charlotte is a good mom, but just wanted the world and nothing wrong with that.
I do think Miriam has potential to improve, if she gets help for her drinking problem and recognizes her favoritism issues. I also noticed hints in the show that she's not happy in her marriage to Big Bob, so maybe she should leave him, too.
The story of Zuko’s mom is so tragic, I’m glad they made a continuation of the story in the comics
@@marcwhitlock5002 oh, but they included the comics for TF2? This is hypocritical.
The best part is where Iroh and Ursa reunite and he apologized for all the pain Ozai put her through, though she tells him he was one of the better parts of her life while she was with Ozai.
@@Stormkrow280So Iroh,Lu Ten, Zuko and Azula were the ones who bringed her joy in this wicked marriage.
In Ursa's defense, Zuko was abused by both Azula and his father, even when she was around.

Despite everything that happened it just seemed like Bryke did her dirty by having her quietly disappear into a new life trusting that Ozai wouldn’t go back on his word, I honestly would rank her higher if her story wasn’t continued the way it was in the comics but thats just my take
I believe it was mentioned in the video that they were going only by the show and not the comics so the ranking makes sense with that context.
If anything her "sacrifice" for Zuko should've pushed her even closer to evil.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I swear nobody read the comics!!
@@michaellovely6601
Good for you and your niece.
That’s true
2. She lets her daughters get away with almost everything and doesn't quite discipline them for any of the big stuff; such as Lola blackmailing her siblings, Lisa experimenting on them, Lori waving her driver's license over their heads like the Sword of Damocles or punishing Lana for bringing so many dangerous beasts into their home (man-eating snakes, a gator, a rat etc.)
Turner
The Louds weren't even teaching Lincoln a lesson in Nsl if they were they would have stopped as soon as Lincoln came clean
Chris Savino did have to do with all those bad episodes, in reality the show has still gotten way better without him.
Lynn Jr said Lola is good at covering her tracks, that means the parents wouldn't know about Lola blackmailing her siblings. Most of the sisters rotten behavior is done when the parents aren't home.
@@bridgetgrant5680 Lincoln did get dirt on her in Tattlers tale
You included Katara's mother, but not Katara herself? I think Katara did a great job with her kids, especially Bumi and Kya.
Heck even as a teen, I knew Katara would be a great mom because Toph mentioned that she was a better mom than her own one.
I love Kira she was a good second mom for Chuckie, she's so nice and sweet to the babies. And I love Didi and Spongebob's mom.
Laurel turner “timmys mom” has to be one of the worst mother’s. Look at the way they treat Timmy
Jenny: Help, i cant breat!
Wakemen: You dont breath honey
I don't say Miriam is evil, she's just really incompetent.
Unlike bob, miriam actually seems like she does care about helga, but just seems always too out of it to act on it.
I think mrs Turner is a much worse mother than her because she purposefully neglects timmy to have fun and has shown multiple times that of the valuable things in her life, timmy is at the bottom.
Is it just me or is Miriam similar to Severus Snape's(the potion teacher in Harry Potter) mom?
@@stephj505I agree timmy's mom should be lower on the list instead of mirriam
One of my favorite memories of Dede is when the babies are talking about their first memory of their mothers in the Mother’s Day episode.
Timmy describes being in what he thinks is a fish tank and being confused, until Dede comes over to him and holds his hand and Timmy describes how he suddenly felt safe when she did so.
It’s just so sweet.
Tommy
the avatar mothers you forgot were Korra's mother and Katara
That’s true
A good mom is one that recognizes and corrects their mistakes as it teaches their child to do the same
23:30 ever think Angelica, despite rarely saying so, sometimes also acts out for her mother’s attention?
Definitely
Didi-needs to drop those Lipshitts books and use her instincts
Maddie-is equally as bad as her husband
Ursa-Azula would most likely turned out the same with or without Ursa
Charlotte-just lose the phone can improve her 70%
Maddie didn't know her son was the ghost boy
@Will N You don't see her trying to kill her son once she found out, none of the two times. Yes, two times because Danny decided to delete everyone's memories the first time he (accidentally) gave the reveal. Both of Danny's parents are very supportive of their son when they find out the truth, in fact
There are three moms missing. SpongeBobs mom, dudleys mom, and bessies mom.,
@Will N I think Winx Club isn't exclusively Nick's?
@@JGProductions6581 dudley's mom was kinda....well she was a bitch in both sense of the word
I think more of the “As Told By Ginger” moms should have included, especially in the lower/bad tiers to highlight the issue of cluelessness, neglect or disregard for their children while they did have a noted influence in them, like Joann Bishop, Roberta Lightfoot, and Claire Gripling.
the fandom needs to stop being so harsh on Ursa, is not her fault, is Ozai's.
Exactly
Ursa was an *amazing* mother
Who tf is ursa
Exactly! She didn't have power in that situation. Azula was Ozai's golden child and he encouraged her psycotich inclinations.
@@StumpyFunnel did you not watch the video? She's Zuko's mom.
THANK YOU. She and Gart pissed me off so much as a kid, Robot deserved none of that
Zuko's mom should have been golden mom. She's got everything Katara's mom has, except that unlike Katara's mom, she had to keep protecting Zuko long term, not just the one shot instance.
The comics kinda ruin that sentiment
If I remembered right Rita Loud actually didn’t do anything when everyone thought Lincoln was bad luck, she just let her daughters get away with it
Helga’s mom is not evil.
And? Doesn't give her the reason to have favoritism and neglect
Ursa didn't abandon Azula she actively pursued attempts to reach, and Azula fought her at every turn.
Got all the Rugrats mothers except for Dr. Lucille Charmichael. Another contender for the good category. Susie's mom was great.
Timmy's mom doesn't even know when Timmy was born, yeah let that sink in
I'm defending Jimmy's mom only because the show takes place back in the older days and kids had more independence at the time and also jimmy hated being coddled and saw spending time doing small stuff was beneath him in a sense
Thank you. I've been waiting for this.
Olga was also messed up to an extent by her parents. So it makes Bob and Miriam even worse.
Yeah she's more in the grey area. She's a good mom to Jenny mostly, but yeah how she treats the others is pretty questionable.
What really places Miriam Pataki in the worst for me is the fact that she literally gave her daughters the same name: Olga and Helga mean the same thing just in different languages, Russian and German.
But what do their names mean?
I always thought that was Bob's idea
@@izzye-scopeexplosivobrainz414 they both mean “Holy”

Ursa actually did try to not let Ozai have influence on Azula. Sadly it was fruitless. I don't fault her, she did what she had to do to ensure Zuko's survival. Azula is a narcissistic sociopath who cares little for anyone around her, other than herself.
Honestly, Miriam should be on Grey area (maybe the last one of it?) And Timmy's Mother should be on bad
the Ursa take was bullshit she was a good mother to Azula and did everything she could to reach out to her, discipline her, and love her just as much as Zuko.

Queen Vexus: Most Evil
She’s a bad parent to Vega and tried to kill Jenny and her daughter after Vega found out about Vexus’s crimes.
Catdog’s mom: End of Good
She’s nice to her children even though they aren’t related. Unlike her husband’s cynical, sarcastic, but still caring personality, she loved her children from the start. But she’s at the end because she didn’t have much time to raise Catdog since they were taken by a tornado.
Frida Casagrande: Good
While extremely emotional, she deeply cares for her family and her kids. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body but the other mothers have done more.
Maria Santiago: Good
A nurse who’s job leaves her little time with her kids, her solution is to move to an apartment with a ton of family. Since Ronnie Anne does a lot around the house, she wanted to move so she’d have company but let her know that they’d never move if she didn’t want to.
Stella Shortman: Grey
She was a bit hard to rank. First, she left her child for an extremely long time but Stella left to cure the Green Eyed people of a disease that was spreading fast because they did so much for her family.
I think the Grey area is best suited here since while she was out of Arnold’s life for a long time, it was out of her control.
Karen: Good
Yeah she was a parent to Chip and was a surprisingly good one. Yeah Chip did run away and cursed at his mother but Plankton told him to leave and for the swearing, he did that as a teen which is normal for teenagers.
Joanne Bishop: Evil
She’s a mother who doesn’t know or wants to know her daughter’s life and is rude to everyone around her.
From your description of Maria, she sounds more good than grey. She did what she had to do to provide for her children and like you said, she didn’t force them and gave them the choice about moving.
Grandparents should have a separate list.
YES Lois Foutley! She's the best mom in an animated series and always my favorite Ginger character.

Helga's Mother has potential to be a decent mother, but it's usually portrayed like afterthought
She obviously wants to be a good mother, but she is too lazy and forgetful to be one.
When you literally give your younger daughter the same name as your older daughter, there is no redemption.
Miriam is a bad mom in the ineffective/occasionally incompetent way. Not in the heartless, selfish way. But she's still bad.

Ursa may not be the best mom, but she did state she loves her daughter in the comics. She even tried writing to both of them.
Plus her kids take after Toph's different traits. Lin has Toph hunger for justice and sassiness and Su has her rebellious nature and hunger for life.
