Wow, I never thought you'd show Anciients! They're super nice, hardworking guys from here in Vancouver. Last time they toured in ~2017 I caught them in a super cozy and intimate basement venue show for a very limited # of people but they played their butts off and were incredible. They're so deserving of any attention they get after recently re-emerging!

Really digging the sound Anciients are going with on this track, I think it's more Mastodon than Opeth, though.

These guys are awesome. As soon as I saw they were releasing a new album I got my preorder in. Their album Voice of the Void is amazing. I feel like if you like this you would enjoy a Scottish band called Dvne (pronounced Dune). Si-XIV is a great starting point.

Didn't know this song, it was cool. "Opethian" is a bit of an understatement ;) which bothers me a bit, I don't see much originality in it. Was a really cool song though. Will check their music thanks to your review :)
I would recommend checking out Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars the live studio version its very musical/progy/folky death metal, with a lot of layers of instrumentation. It's a bit long but I think Judson will like it \m/

You guys should listen to Toundra! They are a Post-Rock band from Spain (instrumental). I would suggest Magreb, I feel it's a song you would both enjoy, it's heavy, groovy and melodic with lots of guitar textures like Post-rock does

Man, you're wearing a Job for a Cowboy shirt.... we need to see some JFAC, something from Sun Eater or Moon Healer. The first two songs from Sun Eater would be a great intro since they flow into each other.
Also, Persefone is another band to get to. The song 'prison skin' would be a good one, great music and lyrics too.

Most of the song is straight beat you can feel as 3/4 or 6/8. The snare hit on the accent confuses the ear. But once you get into the groove and after multiple listens perhaps, you get into the groove.

Dark / Light Up / Down In / Out. Right / left. Before / After Above / Below. Good 👍 Bad 👎 I prefer my vibrational energies to be Higher / rather than low low ! With that said , in the beginning there’s that eastern Indian influence in the song & that can be a recipe for success herd in so many types of music 🎵 but in this case it fell short & I don’t believe it would charm any King Cobras 🐍! See how I just smoothed this over with my verbal diarrhea,,,, sometimes you think your wiping your arse , but a whole roll of toilet paper latter 🧻 it was more so like frosting a cup cake 🧁 but you just keep on going until the Job is done ✅ so many ways of (expression) G n R Beating a Dead Horse has more feeling ! Sorry guys, am not a fan of reactors straying from their core premise. Although you really didn't stray per se but there is so much good metal out there and to react to an obscure song which there is just as much out there as well seems a waste. The song wasn't bad but I tjhought it was a mediocre Opeth clone. Still love you guys and will still view your videos and still am subsribed, have a great day!

Obscure? They toured with heavy weights like Sepultura and Lamb of God, and won a Juno (the highest award a Canadian band can win, basically a canadian grammy). Anciients are well-known and established and have been crushing the Canadian scene for decades. Manowar said it best, wimps and posers, leave the hall. You are excused.

People chime in a lot with "criminally underrated band" on reaction videos, but this band really does fit that bill.
Would really like to see his reaction to Cloak of the Vast and Black off the same album. It's pretty rare to come across bands with this style and level of musicianship, feels like a treat every time one pops up.
