I'm sure there were even topics which he couldn't understand. While my school time I realized that people who were far better than me in math (wrote ones or twos as grades) they struggled in exchange in subjects like politic or philosophy where I was really good in it. That was the point where I realized that it is not a question of talent but to understand and comprehend something. And some people comprehend some things better than others. You can suck in math and physic but be a genius in social knowledge or art. Or you are weak in chemistry but really amazing in biology. Perhaps you suck in history but are in exchange incredible in languages. In my case it's so, that my comprehension sucks with math questions which are hidden in words and phrases. I know the basics and know how to operate, but I can't work with something when the question isn't clear formulated and I'm forced to interpret the abstract stuff into something comprehensible. However, I'm good in biology and social knowledge. In short: we all have a talent for something but we either don't really realize it or ignore it uncautiously. That's at least my conclusion about talent and people.
this song heavily reminds me of my own experiences with OCD. the fruiting bodies representing either intrusive thoughts or stuff your brain decided to obsess over there. "i just wanna itch and scratch" could represent compulsions (even though most of mine are mental). this one is a bit of a stretch but "i am not in the body that was meant for me" could be referring to the fake physical sensations or false attractions certain subtypes of OCD can give you. anyways, practically every lyric reminds me of OCD so im too lazy to write all of them out here lmao.

As someone with C-PTSD the moment from 00:41 to 00:59 define my experience so well, the nightmares, the constant fear of something happening, trying to repress memories of the incidents only for them to come crashing back down onto me.
This reminds me of my OCD. all the intrusive thoughts making me think im not who i really think i am, making me feel like im in danger, the compulsions that could potentially become harmful, sometimes when i explain to people how i view myself because of this, theyre confused because they say that its barely what im like. as if im describing myself as a different person. it keeps me awake at night, worrying certain things are coming for me. no matter how hard i try, i cant block out the intrusive violent and sexual thoughts. being desperate for a way to untaint myself, wondering how my brain dug up memories to turn into obsessions which lead to more compulsions, not knowing what is a real thought or an intrusive thought or obsession. it hits me even deeper since my ocd was worsened massively by a bad experience, so im less numb to it than your average joe. it fits oddly well edit: this really seems similar to the whole ocd contamination thing in general. fear of being contaminated by someone, feeling contaminated, and feeling like youre spreading it (which often leads to compulsions of isolation, or in this case, a desire to be taken out). i know many interpret this as DID/OCDD, but it feels like this to me

Okay. Here’s my theory: prions. The singer first describes being unable to sleep and feeling sick but not having anything indicating they’re sick. The first symptom of FFI, a prion disease, is insomnia. The singer also describes having an INTENSE need to scratch and itch, which is a key symptom of scrapie, a prion disease affecting sheep. The singer’s paranoia, what later seems to become hallucinations, delusions and disorder thinking, is quite reminiscent of psychosis and dementia, both of what prion diseases cause. The single “fruiting body” in the first chorus is the initial prion- all it needs is one badly formed protein to send off a chain reaction, plunging the sick person into a downward spiral. “The ones like me weren’t built to last” could refer to the singer’s family dying from the same illness. “I’m not one to cry, but I haven’t been able to since” might refer to the pseudobulbar affect, which kuru (a prion disease) is known to cause. “My organs and the colony will mix-mix-mix” could refer to how the prions have completely taken over the singer’s brain. While the song is written with the intent to capture the experience with OCD and general paranoia, (info I got from looking through replies.) as someone with BPD, this song really resonates with me. Isolation periods are common out for a fear of hurting the ones around me and I can’t control intrusive thoughts and I often feel like a horrible person for feeling the way I do, and There’s moments where I convince myself that people are out to get me. Often time it’s small things that trigger these moods as well, when I’m in a clear headspace I can look back and these moments almost embarrassed at how I acted but in the movement very little detail makes so much sense and adds to whatever delusion I’d convinced myself into believing. I’ve seen a lot of people relate their song to their experiences but I haven’t seen anyone draw a comparison with BPD yet so I just wanted to put that out there. It’s very nice to see a place whwre so many people can all come together and identify a common feeling and all because of shared niche interest. I really do love looking at the comments of songs like these :). I learn a lot about the experiences of others from situations like this.

A lot of people are associating this with OSDD and DID but I feel like experiencing puberty as a trans person is equally fitting if not more so. It involves Identity, unwanted bodily changes you can't stop, and feeling out of place in said body, as if it doesn't belong to you.
After thinking about it for a bit, I'm pretty sure this is a metaphor for those... Less than pleasant thoughts. That little fruiting body budding in the depths eventually evolving into a thousand fruiting bodies bursting out of her skin, spreading their pores, could represent how a little negative thought grows, and how it WILL spread and multiply and take over if you let it. But hey, that's just a theory.

I know that this is about DID but I just want to say that as someone with a secondary structural disscoiation disorder caused by trauma (BPD specifically), I really relate to this as well! At times it also do be kinda relatable for gender dysphoria tho obvi I get what the lyrics mean in the context of DID. @@dove5693 Wow. That's a long time. I also forget to drink water but I usually end up drinking at least a little bit by the end of the day. Maybe try setting alarms to remind you to drink water. You could try flavored water or some other hydrating drink like Gatorade if you still are having a hard time. You should also probably talk to a doctor when you get the chance, I've heard about people having to go to the hospital because of dehydration.

At first I thought this song was about someone who had some sort of mold/fungus under their bed/carpet and how they felt like something was wrong but everyone called them crazy so they ignored it but were controlled, taken over and decomposed by it, and turned into a body that's nothing but a horrifying pile of mushrooms and organs. I’m going to go for a different take here and say that this (amazing) song represents narcissistic tendencies as a coping mechanism for trauma. There is something horrifying about growing up as a kid and being TERRIFIED about permanently damaging your relationships and not knowing why you’re like this due to a lack of mental health education while everyone around you either doesn’t care for, hates, or is annoyed by you due to how crappily you act due to said narcissistic tendencies. The worst part about it is that you feel horrible about yourself after you come down from it, especially if you’re like me and you feel bad for even stepping on a bug let alone being rude to a person. It’s like you aren’t the same person anymore and you’ve just kind of… broken in ways you never wanted to or intended by trying to ‘harden’ yourself as a way of dealing with your problems. Songs like this really are great with how they have a clear subject in what they’re about but due to being about an alien concept on the surface or just bizarre lyrics/metaphors in general they can be interpreted by the watcher and related to their own life experiences very well. Also the drawings of the character is great and the last segment with the arms was freaky and awesome, well… awesome in a morbid horrified way but you get what I mean. Also the facial expressions are really good and well done. (I noticed in the community guidelines there’s no dumping so I won’t go into big detail or anything. If this does count as dumping then PLEASE feel free to delete this comment. I’ve been finding healthier ways to cope with my problems and do my best to be kind and considerate to everyone, I do still have the same problems with narcissistic tendencies though but I’m much more aware of when it happens and can show some restraint. Your stuff is great and does a really good job at covering the darkest aspects of mental health while being amazing to listen to.) ^-^

Even if this song implies DID, it could also imply Dissociative Amnesia or repressed memories coming back to light, where everything suddenly starts to feel weird, you start to suffer suddenly from the symptomps of your trauma and the thing that you mind desperately tried to keep hidden appears, as you start to relive what your brain hid

Many individuals with dermatillomania have already identified with the song, but I figured I’d add my own to cents in how I personally relate to certain lines! (tw for possibly graphic descriptions of gore) “Oh, I try to be the best version of me, so I push all the bad thoughts away”-trying so hard to be productive while doing a task that it has distracted you from, desperately trying to immerse yourself in the task to distract yourself from the intrusive, compulsive thoughts. “But, something snaps in the back of my mind, and I think about it anyway”-but of course, you cant. You cant escape the urges. They overpower you with ease. You have no control here, even if you would like to think you do. “My mind’s eye is defined by contrariety I just wanna itch and scratch (I just wanna itch and scratch)”-how you desperately dont want to be doing this and actively hate it but cant stop yourself from. Its an everlasting internal battle. Especially the last two lines, i feel like they protray so greatly how the obsessive thoughts feel. “A little fruiting body buds under my skin”-pimples, swelling, anythinh that’s a bump. I will go further with the fruiting body metaphor later. “A trauma to the system’s all it needs to begin”-many picking areas, as i like to refer to them, often start from normal wounds that develop into scabs. That you then pick off. And then pick off again. And they never truly heal. Specifically for me, getting a bit personal, a couple of my skin picking areas started from picking at SH scars, so there’s a double meaning for “trauma”, i guess. “No, don’t come any closer! It’s a trick-trick-trick”-telling yourself to not pick at it because it will just spiral into more picking. Dont come any closer to it. Leave it alone. “And it terrifies me morе than I intend to admit”-many people deal with humour and denial. I am one of those people. There are very few times when i actually talk to someone about how powerless and hopeless I feel. How scared i am of infection, but unable to stop no matter how hard I try. “Left discarded and forgottеn right under your nose” - discarded and forgotten, but still right under your nose. Even when you’re not actively picking at it, you have that acute awareness of it being there. For me, personally, I have this irrational fear that if i leave the skin sticking up it will stay like that forever. I feel like im leaving something to fester that i shouldnt be. “Oh, how did we end up in here? Nobody knows!”+ ““Suddenly, I’m coming to (Suddenly, I'm coming to)”-not me personally, but alot of people black out during trances. As in, they only realise they are in one after an hour of picking or so has passed. Thankfully i black out for only about 30 minutes at most. Though, not sure if its a blessing or a curse; i still usually cant stop, and now im just aware of the excruciating process, not knowing when it will end. “My rotting body is the perfect fit-fit-fit”-probably personal, but i often get this metaphorical feeling of just, rotting away. Like my wounds are just slowly festering and eating away at me. “Picture me, unable to sleep, not a sound rings out in the house The voices tell me something is hiding underneath the ground”-again, partially personal, but ive often found myself starting to pick in the late afternoon/evening, and then being up in the dead of the night, wanting to sleep, but not being able to pull away from the compulsion, I havent finished the job yet. The obsessive thoughts tell me something is still “below the ground”, below the skin? Idk. “I repress my fright, and I cover my eyes and surrender myself to my fate”-sweetly shortly explains the process. Trying to repress the irrational fears, not look/pay attention to the area, but eventually surrendering myself to my inescapable fate. “The ones like me weren’t built to last, I’m not leaving it up for debate”-knowing that there are others with the disorder, knowing its so hard to stop. The last bit kind of reminds me of how my obsession and compulsion speaks through me at times when close ones try to slightly forcefully stop me from picking, like hugging me. I get aggressive, because i NEED to keep picking. “Another fruiting body sprouts out of my skin A tiny opportunity planted within”-the fruiting bodies are a metaphor for the bits of skin sticking up out of the norm, the imperfections. They feel like weeds that need to be weeded out, and you’re the one doing the weeding. Atleast for me, it feels like something bad will happen if I dont. And each imperfection has that tiny opportunity to become a whole festering, never healing scar. “Now, look away I’m gonna be sick-sick-sick”- this especially applies if you either bite at the skin or suck/lick it off your fingers because you feel to awkard to go to the bathroom. The taste of blood, and ESPECIALLY the smell of it becomes so sickening. I also dont imagine my wounds are very pleasant to look at, “now look away”, also reflects how I desperately dont want people in public to look at me when i do it. “I’m not one to cry, but I have been unable to since”-kinda metaphorically reminds me of how you dont feel the full extend of your pain, especially during picking. “They’re coming after me, I can’t run away They hear me screaming in fear, they think it’s hilarious We’re coming after you, you can’t run away We hear you screaming in fear, isn’t it hilarious?” -again, coping with comedy. Feeling like you’re just internally screaming with frustration when doing it. Feeling like you just want to run away, but you cant run away from your body, run away from your skin. “A hundred fruiting bodies burst out of my skin The countless amanitas are doing me in”-when you keep noticing little flaws, this especially happens to me with cuticles after showering. Theres so many, its panicking and frustrating. “No such thing as second chances, it’s a hit or a miss!”-that panicky moment when you’ve gone really far, like peeling back a nail and its just hanging there, so you need to make that one final sharp pull and you’re just panicking because it hurts so damn much but you have to do it because you cant just have it hanging there right?! “It’s impossible to tell which ones are real anymore”-people look at the “flaws” and dont see them, or say they are unnoticable. But you’re like, they ARE, RIGHT THERE. And you feel crazy, especially if you are forced to leave one for a bit and it actually heals and its no longer there, so you start questioning if it was ever really sticking up in the first place.

it keeps me awake at night, worrying certain things are coming for me. no matter how hard i try, i cant block out the intrusive violent and sexual thoughts. being desperate for a way to untaint myself, wondering how my brain dug up memories to turn into obsessions which lead to more compulsions, not knowing what is a real thought or an intrusive thought or obsession. it hits me even deeper since my ocd was worsened massively by a bad experience, so im less numb to it than your average joe. it fits oddly well
edit: this really seems similar to the whole ocd contamination thing in general. fear of being contaminated by someone, feeling contaminated, and feeling like youre spreading it (which often leads to compulsions of isolation, or in this case, a desire to be taken out). i know many interpret this as DID/OCDD, but it feels like this to me

The singer first describes being unable to sleep and feeling sick but not having anything indicating they’re sick. The first symptom of FFI, a prion disease, is insomnia. The singer also describes having an INTENSE need to scratch and itch, which is a key symptom of scrapie, a prion disease affecting sheep. The singer’s paranoia, what later seems to become hallucinations, delusions and disorder thinking, is quite reminiscent of psychosis and dementia, both of what prion diseases cause. The single “fruiting body” in the first chorus is the initial prion- all it needs is one badly formed protein to send off a chain reaction, plunging the sick person into a downward spiral. “The ones like me weren’t built to last” could refer to the singer’s family dying from the same illness. “I’m not one to cry, but I haven’t been able to since” might refer to the pseudobulbar affect, which kuru (a prion disease) is known to cause. “My organs and the colony will mix-mix-mix” could refer to how the prions have completely taken over the singer’s brain.

While the song is written with the intent to capture the experience with OCD and general paranoia, (info I got from looking through replies.) as someone with BPD, this song really resonates with me. Isolation periods are common out for a fear of hurting the ones around me and I can’t control intrusive thoughts and I often feel like a horrible person for feeling the way I do, and There’s moments where I convince myself that people are out to get me. Often time it’s small things that trigger these moods as well, when I’m in a clear headspace I can look back and these moments almost embarrassed at how I acted but in the movement very little detail makes so much sense and adds to whatever delusion I’d convinced myself into believing. I’ve seen a lot of people relate their song to their experiences but I haven’t seen anyone draw a comparison with BPD yet so I just wanted to put that out there. It’s very nice to see a place whwre so many people can all come together and identify a common feeling and all because of shared niche interest. I really do love looking at the comments of songs like these :). I learn a lot about the experiences of others from situations like this.

I know that this is about DID but I just want to say that as someone with a secondary structural disscoiation disorder caused by trauma (BPD specifically), I really relate to this as well! You could try flavored water or some other hydrating drink like Gatorade if you still are having a hard time. You should also probably talk to a doctor when you get the chance, I've heard about people having to go to the hospital because of dehydration.

I’m going to go for a different take here and say that this (amazing) song represents narcissistic tendencies as a coping mechanism for trauma. There is something horrifying about growing up as a kid and being TERRIFIED about permanently damaging your relationships and not knowing why you’re like this due to a lack of mental health education while everyone around you either doesn’t care for, hates, or is annoyed by you due to how crappily you act due to said narcissistic tendencies. The worst part about it is that you feel horrible about yourself after you come down from it, especially if you’re like me and you feel bad for even stepping on a bug let alone being rude to a person. It’s like you aren’t the same person anymore and you’ve just kind of… broken in ways you never wanted to or intended by trying to ‘harden’ yourself as a way of dealing with your problems. Songs like this really are great with how they have a clear subject in what they’re about but due to being about an alien concept on the surface or just bizarre lyrics/metaphors in general they can be interpreted by the watcher and related to their own life experiences very well. Also the drawings of the character is great and the last segment with the arms was freaky and awesome, well… awesome in a morbid horrified way but you get what I mean. Also the facial expressions are really good and well done.
(I noticed in the community guidelines there’s no dumping so I won’t go into big detail or anything. If this does count as dumping then PLEASE feel free to delete this comment. I’ve been finding healthier ways to cope with my problems and do my best to be kind and considerate to everyone, I do still have the same problems with narcissistic tendencies though but I’m much more aware of when it happens and can show some restraint. “Oh, I try to be the best version of me, so I push all the bad thoughts away”-trying so hard to be productive while doing a task that it has distracted you from, desperately trying to immerse yourself in the task to distract yourself from the intrusive, compulsive thoughts.
“But, something snaps in the back of my mind, and I think about it anyway”-but of course, you cant. You cant escape the urges. They overpower you with ease. You have no control here, even if you would like to think you do.
“My mind’s eye is defined by contrariety
I just wanna itch and scratch
(I just wanna itch and scratch)”-how you desperately dont want to be doing this and actively hate it but cant stop yourself from. Its an everlasting internal battle. Especially the last two lines, i feel like they protray so greatly how the obsessive thoughts feel.

“And it terrifies me morе than I intend to admit”-many people deal with humour and denial. I am one of those people. There are very few times when i actually talk to someone about how powerless and hopeless I feel. How scared i am of infection, but unable to stop no matter how hard I try.

Even when you’re not actively picking at it, you have that acute awareness of it being there. For me, personally, I have this irrational fear that if i leave the skin sticking up it will stay like that forever. I feel like im leaving something to fester that i shouldnt be.

The voices tell me something is hiding underneath the ground”-again, partially personal, but ive often found myself starting to pick in the late afternoon/evening, and then being up in the dead of the night, wanting to sleep, but not being able to pull away from the compulsion, I havent finished the job yet. The obsessive thoughts tell me something is still “below the ground”, below the skin? Idk.
“I repress my fright, and I cover my eyes and surrender myself to my fate”-sweetly shortly explains the process. Trying to repress the irrational fears, not look/pay attention to the area, but eventually surrendering myself to my inescapable fate.
“The ones like me weren’t built to last, I’m not leaving it up for debate”-knowing that there are others with the disorder, knowing its so hard to stop. The last bit kind of reminds me of how my obsession and compulsion speaks through me at times when close ones try to slightly forcefully stop me from picking, like hugging me. I get aggressive, because i NEED to keep picking.
“Another fruiting body sprouts out of my skin
A tiny opportunity planted within”-the fruiting bodies are a metaphor for the bits of skin sticking up out of the norm, the imperfections. They feel like weeds that need to be weeded out, and you’re the one doing the weeding. Atleast for me, it feels like something bad will happen if I dont. And each imperfection has that tiny opportunity to become a whole festering, never healing scar.
“Now, look away I’m gonna be sick-sick-sick”- this especially applies if you either bite at the skin or suck/lick it off your fingers because you feel to awkard to go to the bathroom. The taste of blood, and ESPECIALLY the smell of it becomes so sickening. I also dont imagine my wounds are very pleasant to look at, “now look away”, also reflects how I desperately dont want people in public to look at me when i do it.
“I’m not one to cry, but I have been unable to since”-kinda metaphorically reminds me of how you dont feel the full extend of your pain, especially during picking.

They hear me screaming in fear, they think it’s hilarious

We hear you screaming in fear, isn’t it hilarious?” -again, coping with comedy. Feeling like you’re just internally screaming with frustration when doing it. Feeling like you just want to run away, but you cant run away from your body, run away from your skin.

The countless amanitas are doing me in”-when you keep noticing little flaws, this especially happens to me with cuticles after showering. Theres so many, its panicking and frustrating.
“No such thing as second chances, it’s a hit or a miss!”-that panicky moment when you’ve gone really far, like peeling back a nail and its just hanging there, so you need to make that one final sharp pull and you’re just panicking because it hurts so damn much but you have to do it because you cant just have it hanging there right?!
“It’s impossible to tell which ones are real anymore”-people look at the “flaws” and dont see them, or say they are unnoticable. But you’re like, they ARE, RIGHT THERE. And you feel crazy, especially if you are forced to leave one for a bit and it actually heals and its no longer there, so you start questioning if it was ever really sticking up in the first place.

as someone who has a system... this song h i t home- i got so emotional listening to it. especially relating to the exotrauma and memories that arent your own. the discovery of it all is terrifying tbh

This song reminds me of one time in high school someone had an entire mushroom, it was probably a wild one they found outside, it didn't look like a store-bought one. It was pretty big, they were just standing in the hall offering the mushroom to random people, they got to me, held out the mushroom, and said "you want a mushroom?" You wanna know what my dumb ass did? I _S N I F F E D_ the mushroom and said "Smells delicious." then I didn't know what to do so I just walked away and they kept offering it to random people. To make this even stranger, I was carrying a jumbo Blåhaj.
