But that didi, didn't give the reality check. Corporate me oaise ke badle, tumhe ghiswate hain. Too much work, and end of social life atleast at initial days. And litigation might take time not that much jitna that didi was saying, but yeah it do takes time but it's all about connection. Tumahre jitne connection, utne cases and basis on your ability ki tum kaisa perform krte ho, court me, tumhe aur cases milte hain. But litigation do make the most money. Andha oaisa. The myth about getting 18L per annum in the corporate sector is as good as the myth that every IITian or an IIM grad gets 1Cr package. Yes some do get and that requires a lot of hard work and persistence. Nothing comes easy. The range of starting salary in law firms range from a mere 3LPA TO 20LPA.
As far as litigation is concerned , it is a fact there is no financial certainty in the initial stage of your career. And about getting paid zero money. It might have been the trend earlier. But now in last 7-8 years things have changed. But yes you need to know how to get things done. Your work should be a productive contribution to your boss. You cannot expect to get paid to learn. You reduce the work load of your boss. You can demand share of his earning or make yourself good enough that you can have your client who will be willing to pay you because of your quality of work.
Litigation is not IT mass recruiters where you sit in bench andlearn things while getting paid. That's not feasible financially in litigation or fir that any law firm as well.

If you have done law from a good college, say top 50. Then even in litigation one can expect to earn 50k per month after 3-4 yrs of practice, provided one is hard working.
I took example of Top 50 colleges because getting admission in those colleges generally mean that one is good in academics.
And if you have good contacts then 1L per month is normal after 3-4 yrs of practice. Again, this amount is valid for those practicing in High Courts, or in Metro cities.

The main cause is students are not aware of what an advocate is first of all. If you have good aptitude, sense of people, knowledge of law and a hard worker obviously you might be able to do good in litigation specially if you have good connects. To get into corporate law firm is quite simple crack an interview you are in it (That interview is hard though).
Now most of the people here thinks that litigation does not offer money guys please think of India’s most renowned councils, they are from litigation and people with good practice are earning well enough around the age of 45 advocates either get a whole sum amount of money with a lot of good connects or have nothing depends on your practice.
And yes there is difference between lawyer and advocate, person who represents in courts in an advocate and not a lawyer. To put in a nutshell litigation is business like a start up for first generation and business opportunity for other other generations. And corporate law firm is employment.
I was fortunate enough to hear some great senior designated advocates in the HC of Delhi in an argument that people who are sitting in offices cannot be called advocates they are employees and are on a wages… My comment may be biased because of my opinion so offence.

These women have exaggerated it so much. Neither a corporate lawyer earns this much since the start ( you have to be from a top national school for earning that much)
nor you need to work till the age of 45 to be an established lawyer (in case of litigation)
Success comes at an early stage if you’re talented enough no matter what!

The way she's saying stuff about Litigation, I can only guess that she's either from NLU or Private law school. Litigation is not that bad as she said, "zero penny till 45". You can get decent job as a junior associate under senior lawyers and get around 10-20K per month as fresher. And once you start getting clients cash flow just doesn't end. One of my senior he's a lawyer in Delhi, every day he has 10-15 hearings in court, and for each attendence he charges 2k to 10k., you can calculate how much he makes in a month.
