It's audio, so no real video to it, even though there is, but not the full version, which sucks. :(
(I know the quality of the pictures aren't great, blame my iMovie. -_-")

Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a 1971 song composed by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel. It was inspired by Lori Lieberman's response to having seen a performance by Don McLean. First covered by Roberta Flack and later then by plenty of different artists.

this is SUCH a beautiful rendition. it's amazing how well the songs blend together.
They sang THREE songs in this one bit, obviously 'Killing Me Softly' and then a mix of 'Danny Boy' and 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix'. I honestly wouldn't have known this unless I'd looked up the bits I didn't understand why they were singing. Gotta love 'em!

I always thought the Fugees did this song also, but really it was Roberta Flack who made this song back in the 70s, the Jacksons only revised it shortly after. :)

They were doing a play on "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" , written by Jimmy Webb and originally recorded by Johnny Rivers, later recorded by Glen Campbell - which earned him two grammy's! Pretty popular powerful song...

Actually, it originated with folk singer Lori Lieberman, who happened to see Don Mclean in concert and wrote a poem based on her experiences. Gimbel and Fox transformed her poem into a song for Lieberman to record. 2
re-gendered versions by Perry Como and Bobbly Goldsboro followed(as "KMS With HER Song")
Ms. Flack happened to be on a plane when she listened to Lori's original. She loved it so much that she knew she wanted to sing it herself. Rest is history!

This song is sung by a female singer (dont know her name), Roberta Flack found that and recorded it, and it became No. 1 hit. J5 is following Roberta's version, I think.
@marcia7523 There is a video on youtube that exists of this. They cut it off just as Jermaine was about to sing that part. So it is him. The video is Michael Jackson - Killing me softly and it was posted by RebEliiz

the song is about the singer(Jackson 5, Roberta flack etc.) hearing a man sing a song that really touched them since it was about their life
ps. this song was originally written by Lori Lieberman who wrote it about a guy(Don McLean) who sung a song at a place she was at that touched her
next time listen to the lyrics it makes music more meaningful XP

You're right. Roberta rarely, if ever writes her own songs. Most of her songs(like this one) are, in fact ,cover versions.
KMS was originally a folk song by Lori Lieberman, like you said.

@xXxMJ4LIFExXx It was in an issue of Rolling Stone years ago, however they repeated the part of the interview where she speaks of his voice in a more recent publication. It's in the special commemorative issue with MJ on the cover called A Tribute to Michael Jackson. Look on page 87 if you have it. If you don't, then let me know, I would be more than happy to quote to you what was said.
