S.M. Mohrekar, school principal, tells the story of Fakireshwara of Shirahatti, a 17th-century renunciate. Born of Hindu parents with the blessing of a Sufi, he was initiated by the Sufi guru and his spiritual successor was the Muslim Mouneshwara.
