The highlighter should blend over the powder! Try putting it on the back of your hand and picking it up with your finger - then tap onto the high points of your face with your finger. It'll blend instantly and prevent you from overapplying! :) I worked as a makeup artist for 9 years, you're doing great!
If you see this comment almost 2 years later I would LOVE to know what you changed from this trial for your actual wedding day/what you learned during your other trials. I am doing my own makeup for my October wedding and would love any tips! I have watched this many times lol and your final bridal look was absolutely stunning.
Armani luminous silk foundation and concealer, and lip. The lip is the best, it’s cushiony at first and then locks in and stayed my whole wedding! It isn’t hydrating but I also like Mac longwear concealer in NC15 or NC20
I think it turned out beautiful! Makeup for photography is so hard to make look “natural” in person lol I thought the colors all looked really nice together. I would definitely describe the look as ethereal. Blush is always what you can’t see in photos so ya gotta pack it on lol you did a great job!!
Doing my own wedding makeup is how I got into makeup. I had a trial with someone else and it didn’t feel like me whatsoever and was too much. It went fine on the big day but my mom and bridal party were def asking “are you ok in there?” While I was in the bathroom doing my makeup for a while checking in on me lol I found it helpful leading up to it trying different looks and taking photos where I labeled what I was wearing for future reference. I ended up going with shape tape concealer, kjaer Weis blush, luminous silk foundation, Laura m setting powder, skindinavea spray bridal primer and setter (Wayne goss rec) among other things ✨
I love the blush!! I am pale as well and thats pretty much all I use to bring color back into my face and it always looks right in photos, esp when I focus it on the apples of the cheeks (not as modern a look I guess, but classic and cute), I really think its the cool tone and silver of the contour and the intensity of the highlight that made the blush look intense. I also have longer lashes and when I put mascara on all of the lashes it can look heavy, so when I want the makeup to look more flirty I just put it on the outer thirds of my eyes (just like the liner). So excited to keep watching the looks!!!
Have you tried the Essence Pure Nude highlighter? I wear super light makeup too and this is my faaaaaaaaaavorite highlighter. It gives that “glow from within” and “she’s so hydrated” look.

Btw, I like the makeup look, but maybe try a different shade lipstick, more neutral pink. Your eye makeup looked beautiful as did the blush, I thought, but I am definitely not a makeup artist.

I have no advice since I'm paying an MUA to do my makeup (in 2024 as well, whoop!), but I am going over budget to get someone who does really light naturally looking stuff (while still being good for photos and lasting the whole day). The natural look MUAs seems to be pricer than the typical, full coverage full glam bridal MUAs in my area. I'm also doing so much pre wedding skin prep which I hope will be the key to it all looking good on the day.
That too faced concealer is everything though. I feel like in side by side switches you can really see the difference.

I think you look stunning. I'm also a 24' bride and doing my own makeup. I feel the same way about the charlotte tilbury contour, mine never feels quite right. I opted for the fenty amber stick then kevin aucoin contour powder instead and it's much better! I love the eyes and the lips you did, so perfect. I also didn't like the hourglass concealer, felt too patchy and dry on me. I think we're very similar haha, same skin tone and all!

I love the blush. Plus on your wedding day you'll have to over apply anyway because blush is the first to fade. I love the lipstick color but may be a tad dark for wedding? Maybe a shade lighter? Either way, it looks gorgeous.

I did my own makeup too! The Clinique high impact waterproof mascara was amazing for me. It literally doesn’t move until you take off with a gentle cleanser! Foundation wasn’t much different than what I normally would do. I say prep is super important for longevity- I used the elf power grip as my base and the benefit porefessional setting spray. I will say that you definitely need more blush/bronzer/contour than you think you do for pictures. It can look a little heavy close up, but most people won’t be looking at you up close tbh. Depends on when and where you’re taking the photos too. Our wedding was in the evening so a lot of of our photos were taken either outside with a little flash/during golden hour or inside with flash. I would also take into consideration the way your photographer edits their photos when choosing someone to take your pics. I look really washed out in some of her edits, and really great in others. Also keep flashback in mind if you’re doing an evening wedding!

Try Youthforia primer and setting spray. That primer has personally changed the game for me. I struggle with rosacea and Perioral dermatitis and it truly does reduce redness, but also I notice my makeup does not separate either. I know you prefer dewy products as opposed to matte so this primer might change your life like it did mine!!!
I think it looks great....maybe take some photos with flash and natural light next time to see how it looks in photos?

There is something about that Dior pink blush! Lol It was the only time in my life that my husband told me I had too much blush on, just like Ted did. I still use it, but much more lightly

I think the makeup looks beautiful! Just maybe needs a couple tweaks like the contour placement/color (imo). Also in photos everything def won’t look like too much. I’m sure you’ve watched plenty of RUclips videos about bridal makeup, but I know the queen Lisa Eldridge has a good vid tutorial on it.
i think the reason you feel like you look like a clown is because you're not used to wearing that much makeup on your face at once? i also think that in photos it will look like you're barefaced, i feel like that always happens. and the blush looked totally fine, but then when you moved your head around at the end it looked darker? so maybe it's a lighting thing, but again i bet it'll look fine in photos

Contour might be better finishing in the middle of your ear and don’t go so far into the centre of your face
