The emphasis is, that it must be very high speed as you say, or you may have bouncing and skipping.
Can you use these tools to engrave on car parts as well?
You sure can. You can engrave on any of the chrome to rims. We also have customers engrave on the glass as well.

I think you sell yourself short , when you have skill & knowledge to the point at which you can say you have really no skill , then your very skilled . Lovely work , but it's those other 20 / 30 years of looking at designs & ideas that has come to the zenith point of really no skill ........ keep up the great work , very impressive & great kit for tuning & honing model glow plug engines .

What kind of air supply is required to power the 400xs?
All you need is a small 3/4 of a horsepower or larger (2cfm or higher). This can be tankless or with a tank. If you have a tank we suggest a 3-4 gallon or larger. You also need a filter/ moisture trap to provide clean dry air going into the 400xs. We carry our Ultra Quiet compressor. What do you recommend for wood,bone, glass, and stone? Do you recommend one of these tools? Or am I better off with a dermel tool? Can this be Ann all purpose tool? Love your work by the way
We have been manufacturing the high-speed engravers for 31 years. You can find them here... scmsysteminc.com/power_carver.php The slow speed electric drill are ok for bulk removal. They vibrate and cause your fingers to go numb. The 400xs/Power Carver are just like drawing with a pen.

@@scmsystems will these bits work with a dremmel?
The SCM bits are 1/16" (1.58mm) shanks. Most of your dremmels are much larger shanks 1/8"inch ( 3.175mm). There are adapters out there. The only problem is that the slower speed electric drills have so much tugging and pulling that you will bend or break the bits right away. The slow speed electric drills are not really designed for detailing. The 400xs Power Carver have the amazing speed (400,000rpm's) with total control. You don't have that tugging and pulling at all. I hope this helps you.

The Power Carver / 400xs is run off of compressed air. We do not have the limits of an electric motor. We have been manufacturing our systems for over 32 years. They really are just like drawing with a pen.

I'm looking for that stencil-paper. Where could I get that? I didn't have any luck finding it so far. It would have to be so I can see through to copy a picture.

What paper is that?
You can order here...www.scmartwork.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=15 You can buy it by the sheet or in 25 pack or 100 packs. These will work with laser printers and most ink jet's. When using with ink jet's set your printer to high glossy photo paper. The stencil is so micro thin it is so easy to trace through with the 400xs Power Carver.
