    I just failed the Nurse practitioner exam.😭😭😓 I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling. 😥 I'm confident that I will be a good nurse . I just need to get past this, move on and persevere 0:02

    Yaaaaaay! Thank you for updating us Angel! I really appreciate it. I'm happy to hear you love your first NP gig! You hit on a very important topic regarding how trauma can inform the trajectory of one's life. The impact can be devastating or remarkable. Thank you for sharing their story/ plight. It brings awareness to the need for empathy. ❤

    I enjoyed working with mentally ill patients as a Nurse. It was truly an enlightening experience because the inmates were really mentally sick and has went through years without treatment. Both the jail and prison system are impactful in treating mentally ill patients in a controlled setting

    Love your stuff. Check it a dude Andrew Vachs. Author, lawyer for kids after being counselor for incarcerated youth. I was listening to your generational trauma discussion and I'm like yes! testify. And then like I have to pass his stuff your way. Your videos keep me focused on getting that psych np. I was a therapeutic foster parent and we always took teens. If we could start so early we'd have a better world. Keep at it, you are so where you need to be. You still doing nurse coach?

    Hey. I'm a recent PMHNP grad. with prison experience as a RN. I'd love to work in corrections. I'm moving to California bay area next month. Not sure of my first job as of yet, but I definitely want to travel in the future.

    • @angelthepsychnp253

      You will have no problem finding a job in cali especially if you want to work in the prison with your rn experience.. the pay is really good to.. especially since you will be living there and won’t have to pay for expenses in 2 places. Also check out Kaiser I think they have a psych hospital there .. you will make good money and also pay big money to live there.. but you will be fine

    Do you give psychotherapy, provide a plan of care and prescribe medication like you would do in a practice with patients who aren’t prisoners?

    • @angelthepsychnp253
      @angelthepsychnp253  Год назад +1

      I do! I do some therapy with all of them and I also sometimes do it with the social workers present.. sometimes they request that social worker and myself be present.. and we come up with a POC together..

    I heard alot of NP's say NP school was easier than RN school. Did you work while attending? How were the tests proctored? Were the teachers easily in touch with if you have questions? Did you have any group projects or any capstones? Thanks for responding if you do in advance!

    • @angelthepsychnp253
      @angelthepsychnp253  Год назад +1

      NP school was definitely easier lol. And yes I worked full time as a travel nurse while in school full time. The professors were very responsive and yes we had group projects. We were assigned topics and each took a part and someone would volunteer to put it together into one paper

      It depends on where you work at. I’m in a inpatient setting basically and it requires more than me just adjusting meds.
