I love how Jack is constently like “I don’t like him for US” “WE can figure this out” lol really shows how empathetic he is even when he can’t see a person ❤
I love how he cares so much about where the characters diploma goes while also not having his diploma up, hang it up Sean, show off your accomplishments!
I literally never picked mine up from the school... No job has ever asked for it or even asked for me to prove in any way that I went to college or even HS for that matter. I guess they'd know if it was a background check position, but I haven't gone for anything that corporate/untrusting, I guess.
Mine are in the envelopes they arrived in (never had a graduation ceremony or anything other than high school) and are sitting in some stack of something somewhere. Only ever felt relief as getting it done, never proud of my accomplishment. I never felt they were accomplishments. Also felt scared that school was over because it's the only thing I've ever done decently at in my life. It meant going on to be fired from one job after another and being threated to be kicked out to the streets.
A little detail I absolutely love is the picture of the mc and her ex-boyfriend in the tidy apartment can be put on the fridge no problem. But then in the childhood room if you hang it up on the cork board above the bed before moving it to the cabinet, one of the pins goes straight through his face. That little detail really tells you how angry and hurt she was - I’m gonna guess he cheated on her or something along those lines
As someone pointed out, she started out super sporty, rock climbing, etc, but then it all of a sudden stopped and she had a cane and pain meds, insinuating she was probably very injured and had to recover and unable to continue. My guess is that he treated her like crap during her recovery, and yeah, possibly even cheated on her because she couldnt put out, and then dumped her.
To me, it seemed like he was very sporty and athletic, if you look at his gym equipment and the protein powder. I'm guessing the main character started out sporty but hurt herself and ended up needing pain medication and couldn't walk properly throughout her recovery so she turned more towards her art and writing, and the guy was the complete opposite of her, so they broke up.
Or he simply didn’t respect her at all given the fact that he didn’t even let her hang her own diploma on one of the walls. This is just frustrating, dismissing and disrespectful.
i love that she stole his incense burner from his bedside table (52:00), its such a small thing but his house gave me ocd vibes and if thats true then it will drive him mad looking for it (she unpacks it when she's back home in her bedroom 59:31) its petty revenge and im here for it.
I think it was worse, she did not fit in his agenda. "I could barely fit my things there" See how the only place for her diploma or loved things was under the bed or inside the wardrobe. He did not want her in that space since beggining. Look at the difference when she moved in with her GF, that there were new bookshelf, drawers or nightstand for her.@@Godrocks1998
The fact Sean managed to go through the entire game without putting anything on the windowsill is both impressive AND had me almost screaming at my screen.
im pretty sure the only thing you missed about the main character is that she started off this really sporty person. shed play soccor, rock climb, etc, but as she got older she started to have too much pain for that. thats why she had a walking stick and so many medications, and the only physical activity she did by the end of the game was yoga.
@@TheNocturnalOracle I was surprisingly sporty as a child, did quite the variety of sports before I hit double digits. But I never got any kind of sporting injury, probably because I pretty much stopped doing sports by age 10 and never really did them again.
I can’t believe I never pieced that together before! I’ve played through so much and just thought that the added meds were like…the result of moving out and needing to have shit like pain and flu meds on hand. It took this comment and Jack pointing out that what I thought were martial art belts were actually exercise bands that can be used for like physical therapy for my brain to have an “oh duh” moment
The contrast between the first roommates and the boyfriend really is stark. You can't move anything in the roommates' apartment, but they made space for you. Meanwhile, you can move everything in the boyfriend's apartment, and you HAVE to to make space for your things. It's absolutely telling about the amount of respect one had over the other.
@@L-tb9kk So basically the roommate made space for you. They thought about all the things you might bring and made space for those things. Meanwhile your boyfriend doesn't even do that, you have to do it yourself. It's also a good way to show the difference in relationship without directly telling you. The roommate doesn't let you move their stuff around but that's because they are your roommate, your boyfriend(your significant other) obviously has less qualms with you moving their stuff, they just also don't put the most thought into it compared to the roommate.
I think the person the main character lives with in 2010 also lived with them in 2007! You can see when you go to move into the fourth house that there's a bug box on top of one of the characters boxes. But in the third house/ 2007, there are multiple bugs in critter boxes all throughout the house! I think that since there were two other bedrooms in the third house, you can infer that you live with two roommates, one of them is a cosplayer/ design student, and the second (future boyfriend) is an entomologist/ bug enjoyer. I think the symbolism of not being allowed to move any of the furniture in the third house shows that t\they're all just friends that have their boundaries, while the fourth house shows that the entomologist and the main character have a closer connection, thus you're allowed to move pre-existing furniture :}
@@hayden_ann1339 I thought the bug is the main characters, not the boyfriends. like they picked up the love for bugs from one of their roommates. Especialyl because there is just the one bug and it doesn't fit anywhere, if it was the boyfriends I would think he'd have space for it.
Unpacking in the boyfriend’s place is so well designed to be more and more frustrating as you go. The fact that the diploma is one of the last things you’ll probably unpack (when you’re already feeling uneasy) and then you HAVE to put it UNDER THE BED…makes you just feel like NOPE IM OUT. well done designers!
I was getting frustrated unpacking in the boyfriends house to the point where i gave up making it look nice. I was just trying to cram anything where it could fit. Excellent subtle storytelling, done almost through the players emotions.
i assume the apartment at 50:50 is when the character is in a relationship with a guy and the character is queer. maybe signifying that they don’t match because of the style difference and difficulty in finding space.
i thought the styles were actually pretty different, she definitely seemed to wear more dresses with patterns and more colors. like, she's more 'girly' i guess?? idk lol
The underlying story of the main character getting hurt always gets to me. She has rock climbing gear one time and then the next has back pain medicine and a cane.
Okay, now that is a neat detail I didn't pick up on. It's amazing how the developer thought of these things and how they incorporated it in to such a simple game.
but its so cute how she still keeps up with things like yoga!! im pretty sure she has MS, which is something that you take vitamin d tablets for because its a vit d deficiency (she often has the tablets in the bathroom) and my dad has MS and he walks with a stick and has back pains pretty frequently, i love the thought that goes into this game
@@martyr3435 oh wow, my dad has MS too! It's always really out of the ordinary for me to hear about other people who have family members with MS/have MS. I hope you are doing well, it's a really hard disease for families to go through. My dad has little movement now, he gets around with an automotive chair. But he pushes through!
@@kaitlynnelson2139 There’s was also three people living there and I’m pretty sure the devs said they were roommates. For example they had three ttrpg character pieces.
Ironically, I really loved the boyfriend's apartment aesthetic. I love the modern look and everything being all color-matchy and such. It was maybe a little too neat and sterile, but I was sad at Jack's instant reaction to it lol. People with different aesthetics and/or different vibes can absolutely work well together, and the being able to move his stuff to fit ours in made me think it might've worked out. I would really love if maybe something like finding a place for the diploma would change the way the story went. But that might be asking too much from a game like this haha
I felt SO vindicated after seeing his reaction to that part. I had a viscerally awful reaction to it -- right down to feeling sick shoving the diploma under the bed -- and he says it perfectly: Someone who loves you will make space for you. It makes the sequence for their girlfriend's moving in that much more of a contrast as space is already made, even going so far as to get new (and matching!) bedside tables, closet storage, etc.
When he put his diploma on the wall and said "Put that up! Be proud of it!" I couldn't help but anticipate the next apartment. He figured out sooo fast that the guy she's with wasn't good lol. I'm always so impressed by the creators' storytelling, just through simple items.
Sean not realizing someone was moving in was absolutely killing me. “Another toothbrush?” “Almost like a completely different personality” “it feels like someone is going to move in with us in the next place” smh.
It hit me that way at first too, because I also started with the bathroom. I was like "Oh okay, some time has passed, she's getting new things, updating her style a bit". And then when I went into the bedroom and saw the new clothes I was like "Ohhhhhhh okay." It clicked that there was a new person with a distinctly different style.
I love how in Evelyn's video, she's so meticulous about it all being neat and then Jack somehow makes this relaxing game stressful by just putting stuff everywhere XD It's like the two sides of ADHD incarnate
Edit: I now realize that John has worded it correctly but also Jack does not realize his mistake xD (also he didn't realize the pictures of people on the fridge at the SO's place are likely the friends from the first shared space lol) Unless he corrects himself later, the first "SO" was just a shared house during some sort of study - typical after first year or two of college to do stuff like that in the US or just if going out of town to college in some cases it's preferable to a dorm, sometimes even paid for by the university to reserve more space for those who need it. Also that's why you're not allowed to move the stuff at first because you can't move other people's stuff but with an SO you definitely can. Also there's already 3 controllers for the system and there's 3 bedrooms but 2 are inaccessible, in the first location.
As soon as I saw the boxes I knew and I was like “That’s a moving box. Like from a moving company… someone is moving in…” I then got so excited when the makeup and more female geared products. I love an LGBTQIA+ love story
The fact that Jack didn't realize he was moving in a new girlfriend (why do i have more makeup and deodorant? So many new dresses!) Is hilarious to me.
he was so close to getting it, too xD but i love that he subconsciously approved of her so much more than the first boyfriend, complimenting her taste in lamps and everything
I've not seen anyone mention it, but it's really touching to see that the MC is disabled in some way - they carry medicine with them from the very beginning, then heating pads for back pains, and the moment they move in to their own place they get a cane that follows them to the new house... not to mention the medicine cabinet that rapidly grows throughout the levels. It makes me feel seen
@@NotMe-yh5gi they said it makes them feel seen so I assumed they have to deal with back pain also or something along those lines and was tryna be nice
Sean may have misread a couple of story elements, but I love how as SOON as he saw the boyfriend's apartment he immediately picked up on the implication that the MC did NOT fit in with him and that the way the aesthetics clashed showed a dysfunctional relationship. I totally glossed over that in my playthrough
I get this is a game and visuals often hint at/show a characters personality but Realistically how does aesthetics clashing mean jack shit about a relationship being compatible Genuine question pretty much
@@Blip_OwOit’s just a way to tell a story. It’s not an insult on people with those tastes for aesthetics, but just a way for the story to show that this place with no color VS you who has a lot of color in their life. Kinda like clashing personalities.
@@Blip_OwO I meant in a storytelling sense- I know that realistically many people who are very compatible have "clashing" aesthetics. My best friend has a very cutesy vibe and her favorite colors are purpley shades while I have a darker aesthetic and my favorite colors are red and black. Although, I would also like to note there is a difference between clashing and complementary. You can have different aesthetics that go well, but when they clash it's more of a "we don't have much common ground or anything to talk about because we like different things." Clarification: On paper, aesthetics don't sound like an issue (and in real life they mostly aren't), but what I was talking about was less about the literal sense and more about the metaphorical sense. It's like picking up on a bad vibe. They just don't go together. Something about the colors, the way things are organized, and the space left for the MC is a vital storytelling element.
@@danielwoods3896 it’s purely story based as it’s a story game without words you have to use the clues the game gives. It’s supposed to be symbolic lol. Just as rainy days don’t mean bad things and sunny days don’t mean happiness but when you see them in a wordless story you understand the implications of them, if that makes sense?
the little "vacuum" thing at 33:30 is chalk for rock climbing/bouldering! there's chalk inside the bag and you stick your hand in, shake it around a bit, and then you have chalky hands for better grip :D
him not realizing she moved in with 2 other roommates (3 toothbrushes in the bathroom, one was just sitting on the sink, considering there were 2 bedrooms it might have been a couple) and then not trying to place the plants on the windowsills were killing me
I loved how the second the MC moved in with the bf Sean knew the MC didn’t fit and then when the MC’s gf moved in he didn’t even realize because they just fit together so well
I did have to laugh at him though. He sounded like someone who talks about how their "89 y/o aunt has lived with her best friend for years and years", lol. Yes, Jack, she's got a new girlfriend. I just kept waiting for him to realize.
I was laughing so hard at Jack not quiteeee processing that the fifth level was moving in the main character's new girlfriend, even though you move in a new wardrobe of dresses, skirts, bras, and panties, as well as a box of tampons- but then upon encountering her shampoo and conditioner he says "oh, seems like men's hair products!" Unpacking is such a creative game- moving house is always a personal time in your life. You have to pack everything important to you into boxes, and one by one spend time with each little portion of your life- it just makes so much sense for the basis of a storytelling video game, and it's flawlessly executed here. I love piecing together the little things about this person- how she's from New Zealand, she's an artist, has a childhood interest in fantasy that turns into a passion for D&D, loves her stuffed animals, likes collecting things, that she's Jewish- and, specifically, appears to connect more with her faith later in the game, when she starts displaying her Menorah and a Hamsa!- even the random nod to her having done a form of martial arts at some point as a kid- it feels so HOMEY! You really get to know this woman, in so many stages of her life :] I loved how her girlfriend's hobby for gardening was expressed!! For the first four levels, our girl never has any kind of plants, but once the girlfriend moves in, they're in every room- a gorgeous visual nod to how having a partner, and especially living with them, changes every single aspect of your life, in small, almost unnoticeable ways :] Especially in contrast to her ex, who didn't really seem to have a place for any of our girl's stuff- nodding to an emotional unavailability, that isn't present in our girl when she's the one moving her partner in. There's such a stark contrast between the feel of the two relationships- its crazy the sense of warmth we get from the second one, versus the coldness, and slightly suppressed feel we get from the first, without ever meeting either partner. Much more personal, but I LOVED seeing her subtle progression as an artist!! She went from having from a simple kid's arts and crafts collection, to the classic multi shade colour pencil tin you get when your parents realise you actually will use five different shades of green, to having multiple packs of copic markers, which any intermediate artist knows is equivalent to pulling on your big boy pants, a screenless tablet to hook up to a desk top (you ALWAYS get one before you get a proper drawing tablet, because buying a proper one is SUCH a huge commitment, and what if you suck at digital art??? and you just give it up and now you've bought a 700 dollar piece of technology that you'll NEVER use- the horror! The screenless version, or an non-specialised tablet is that safe bridge to cross first- so much less expensive), and a stand for the tablet/sketchbooks (proper posture, woohoo!!), and then eventually, she has a proper tablet with a set up- so. Real!!! Like the game creator totally lived it :] I liked the hint to her being a children's illustrator- there's something really sweet about her going back to what made her love to draw in the first place. I loved seeing her slowly collect more and more sketchbooks- again, so real to the artist lifestyle, you just can't bring yourself to throw the old ones away 😞 Also I CACKLED when Jack unpacked the CLASSIC posable wooden figure drawing tool- my mom got me one when she realised I was more serious about studying art, and I like to imagine it was similar for our girl :] Overall, my favourite detail was the wear and tear on the stuffed animals becoming more pronounced until she gets her own apartment and patches the pig up, and then gets it properly cleaned/repaired to pass on to her baby :>> so, so cute. Such a perfect throughline and full circle moment for the story
Also, her sports phase ends suddenly and suddenly she has a cane and pain meds, insinuating she was injured (possibly by rock climbing) which could be why the boyfriend dumped her.
The game using white boxes to introduce another character is so brilliant. Putting them alongside the familiar brown boxes in the next house made my brain so happy. I love the implication that you just have two girlfriends in the same house decorating and unpacking together.
@@Toro563 Don't do this man. How would you like people moaning and complaining each time a straight couple is depicted in a piece of media? Stop polarizing or making lgbtq relationships "other" in your mind so much. It's just a regular relationship like any other. They exist.
Literally same. I was kinda screaming at the screen, trying to tell him, even though I know it wouldn't work. Sean: "Where the heck am I supposed to put the plant, in the baby room?" Me: "the f**king windowsill! Please!" Lmao
Have a love/hate with it. He picked up on the diploma not being able to be put up meaning bad match, but when putting away a whole other wardrobe... It's not a relationship, it's just more clothes... Stored in boxes with other belongings we haven't seen before...
Had to put the diploma under the bed with the bad relationship and I immediately thought this wasn't going to last long 😂 And when I unpacked make-up I also immediately knew another girl moved in.
1:13:03 That's a spiky massage ball! I love the attention to detail because they're commonly used by people to relieve back pain, and as an artist she would be constantly hunched over either her easel, tablet or her sketchbooks
There's also the cane and medications, plus the dissapearence of the climbing equipment -- I think there's an implication of her suffering from chronic pain, maybe after an accident of some kind
@@Nat0521I think if she was abused to the point she suffered permanent nerve damage and needed a mobility aid, then one of the places she’d be moving into would be a women’s shelter for abuse victims.
Its so funny how quickly Sean picked up on some things - the boyfriend not making room for MC, but not others, that the MC was clearly moving in with friends in the apartment with DND stuff
I really liked his apartment ;-; And they did clearly have some common interests- the music instruments, the weights. Plus being able to move his stuff is generally a good sign that the relationship isn't super toxic. If anything, I'd say maybe their financial states were too different cuz that was a very fancy apartment with a view of a busy city, and then our girl moved back in with her parents when it ended, which suggests she didn't have the money for her own apartment. I'd guess it was money disagreements that split them up.
@@animeartist888She probably was allowed to move things because he didn't care enough to make space for her himself. When you love someone and they are moving in you try to make everything as comfy as possible. I could feel she was not welcome. BUT the house is pretty, not to my taste, but the colors match and it's clean and decorated. ✨️
What sold it for me that the boyfriend was an asshole (other than there not being room for anything) is that the diploma has to under the bed showing he doesn’t care about the mc or her accomplishments
I love that a lot of us collectively didn't like the boyfriend's place; it seemed nice to me at first but the more you unpack your stuff, everything feels more crowded, you feel out of place in the apartment, and there's less space for you and your dreams. Because of that, you just feel tense organizing everything in that stage of the game. AMAZING environmental storytelling
Especially the diploma part. I absolutely agree with Sean. Imagine being so proud with something that you did in your life, then your SO just ignores it and in addition, tells you to put it away instead. Thats like the biggest red flag out of all red flags
My grandma walked in on me watching this video and she became extremely fascinated by your organizing skills. She favored when the clothes would fold quickly as she thought you were doing that yourself. She was very impressed
I like how in the roommate house you could see cohesion in their joint existence; our character had a matching figurine, they were both artists, our character had a D20 and games and the caption was about game nights plus the styles fit so well together - you could really see how the characters would have gotten to know each other and had things in common/why they were friends. And then everything in the boyfriends apartment clashes us (in little ways but so much that it stacks up and is obvious)
am i the only one who thinks its obvious that the house after college had 3 people living in it? (3 bedrooms, 3 towels, 3 toothbrushes, 3 drawers etc), it feels like a group of friends moved into a place during or after college
That badly matched boyfriend level is such good storytelling. The fact he didn’t make space for her like the housemates did (even though you couldn’t move their stuff) is so infuriating!
for real! I was getting just as pissed as Jack seeing how that "partner" wasn't willing to share the space for her at all and just expected her to squeeze herself in
What I didn't understand was why couldn't you just make room? Like for the diploma, maybe remove a picture from the living room and place the diploma up? Since you are able to move things around. That's kinda what frustrated me about Jack and the level.
@@RoseKeely that's the point though. you're meant to be frustrated. "why can't you just make room?" because this is the boyfriend's house, and he doesn't care enough to do that. the main character's biggest accomplishment is not being valued or acknowledged at all, which is a good way to show the player how this guy treats her without ever seeing them onscreen.
@@RoseKeelythe game uses storytelling in that it allows you to move some of his stuff but not all of it. Ultimately the main character is supposed to fit her life around his
One feature of this game that I love is when you help your girlfriend move in with you. As with the past two people that you moved in with, it's implied that they didn't help you. and that you as the player character don't want your new partner to feel unwelcome, showing that your home is their home too.
@@Luje_YT2020 I think it was a girl if you're talking about the very last partner, since there was a picture of them and both had long hair, and also when Sean unpacked the clothes it was only clothes girls would wear, eg panties, bras, dresses and so on
I myself thought the place looked pretty good. A little simplistic and modern, but I didn’t really see what Sean hated about it outside of conflicting styles
@tdoyr2119 I think the reason he and many of us hate it is because the boyfriend didn't try to give us any room whatsoever. We had to move all of his stuff to cram our stuff into his space. Also, the conflicting styles bothered me.
I played the game before watching this video and it's really funny that everyone equally hated it. Thought it was just me, but I knew the next placed we'd be moving was either back home or a new apartment alone because dude was clearly a band junkie prick.
@@tdoyr I think the real hatred didn’t truly come from the conflicting styles alone, it was that mixed with other factors… many people irl had an almost immediate feeling of being out of place with the boyfriend and his minimalist style kinda choked out the MC’s colorful aesthetic and ESPECIALLY the diploma incident… overall these factors alone probably wouldn’t be that much of an issue, it’s the fact that all of these signs were present and so overwhelming that really put many players off
Oh my god... I'm literally gay and didn't pick up on this while playing it myself. I'm starting to understand why I've been ragged on for my lack of gaydar...
watching sean not realize that dresses take up more room than shirts and then getting frustrated that they won't go on the (full) hangers is hilarious but also had me nearly screaming at my laptop.
As I’ve seen a couple others say, this is definitely a new comfort video. Seeing how genuine you are about seeing this person succeed. The way you easily say the words “pads” and “tampons” without a grossed out face. And how oblivious you are to the mc getting a girlfriend is all amazing. Now and days people my age gag at the thought of it all… thanks for being so supportive is all I’m trying to say.
Also, that he said that the playable character was 'someone who gets periods' rather than just assuming they were a woman, we love someone who is period-positive and inclusive
Yeah I loved all of these little details! I started crying when he said “person who gets periods” because I’m a trans man who gets periods, so it means a lot for there to be no assumption!
I love how at the beginning of the game Sean was like “Why do you have so many things!” but then with the boyfriend it was just “You don’t have any room for all my cute things!” He got attached to them ❤
@@DaysofKnight yes, but in the previous album, we see MC hang it up in the open. it's clearly something they're very proud of! to then contrast it with MC shoving it under the bed says a lot about the situation/relationship they were in. the 2010 apartment as a whole was very good storytelling, in that MC had to move stuff around to make space for themself and *still* couldn't find space to hang up their diploma
That entire apartment was wonderful in telling the story through it's details. It implied that MC probably felt belittled in that relationship because all of their stuff was literally smaller than his- He has the huge weights, they only have small dumbells, the small ukulele next to the big e-guitar, the tiny toothbrush next to the bulky electric one.
@@bloop4627Yeah though unless they come with stuff in the future with technology and stuff, I don't think we will get that till maybe in the 2050's since their kid was born in 2018 it seems. Maybe we could get one of the characters sister or their parents that they have according to a photo.
On the darker side I wish there were more levels where you go through a divorce and you have to move into a really shabby apartment. Or possibly one of the partners dies and you have to downsize either by continuing as the main protagonist or take over as the other parent. Its better that it ended the way it did but I love drama 🤣
Depends, it was her moving into his place, communication is key I found it really annoying for jack to judge so quickly on things its not as simple as most lgbtq+ make it out to seem, if they are willing to change for you it shows love a lot better than to just be the way you want them to be if that made any sense
Im saying lgbtq+ because of the game designer themselves cuz they did make the presumably male partner not work out with the presumably feminine partner but the 2 feminine partners were perfect for eachother
@@uncutxhardstyle2934 I don’t think you really got the point. If someone loves and cares about you they will make space for you in their lives. Someone can change yes but they shouldn’t make you feel like you don’t matter and you’re an inconsequential part of their life.
@@uncutxhardstyle2934 the point wasn’t them being lgbtq+, the point was that one partner made space for the main character and fitted into their home better than the first partner.
There's even a line in the song about it, it was messing with me the entire time
LITERALLY
And he even does it for a split second but doesn't notice it.
he even has one part where it goes on the windowsill but he doesnt realize it.. drove me insane too lol
he also didn’t use the nightstand drawer in the university scene
im pretty sure the only thing you missed about the main character is that she started off this really sporty person. shed play soccor, rock climb, etc, but as she got older she started to have too much pain for that. thats why she had a walking stick and so many medications, and the only physical activity she did by the end of the game was yoga.
Oh wait really 😢
It makes sense.. i don't know anyone who was into sports that hasn't gotten hurt at some point.

The contrast between the first roommates and the boyfriend really is stark. You can't move anything in the roommates' apartment, but they made space for you. Meanwhile, you can move everything in the boyfriend's apartment, and you HAVE to to make space for your things. It's absolutely telling about the amount of respect one had over the other.
can u explain i dont understand
@@L-tb9kk So basically the roommate made space for you. They thought about all the things you might bring and made space for those things. Meanwhile your boyfriend doesn't even do that, you have to do it yourself. It's also a good way to show the difference in relationship without directly telling you. The roommate doesn't let you move their stuff around but that's because they are your roommate, your boyfriend(your significant other) obviously has less qualms with you moving their stuff, they just also don't put the most thought into it compared to the roommate.
I think the person the main character lives with in 2010 also lived with them in 2007!
You can see when you go to move into the fourth house that there's a bug box on top of one of the characters boxes. But in the third house/ 2007, there are multiple bugs in critter boxes all throughout the house!
I think that since there were two other bedrooms in the third house, you can infer that you live with two roommates, one of them is a cosplayer/ design student, and the second (future boyfriend) is an entomologist/ bug enjoyer.
I think the symbolism of not being allowed to move any of the furniture in the third house shows that t\they're all just friends that have their boundaries, while the fourth house shows that the entomologist and the main character have a closer connection, thus you're allowed to move pre-existing furniture :}
@@hayden_ann1339 I thought the bug is the main characters, not the boyfriends. like they picked up the love for bugs from one of their roommates. Especialyl because there is just the one bug and it doesn't fit anywhere, if it was the boyfriends I would think he'd have space for it.
If you ask me i would think the person who let her touch his stuff and move things around is better.
You can also put it above the toilet xD the only place on the wall it will fit
Nevermind I see it won't let you keep it there, under the bed it goes 🥺
You can put it In the closet too
I was getting frustrated unpacking in the boyfriends house to the point where i gave up making it look nice. I was just trying to cram anything where it could fit. Excellent subtle storytelling, done almost through the players emotions.

The way the girlfriend's style matches the main girl's so well that Sean can't tell that it's a new person, it's so cute
Honestly when I played I didn't even notice the first time! I just thought she decided to change her style lol
i assume the apartment at 50:50 is when the character is in a relationship with a guy and the character is queer. maybe signifying that they don’t match because of the style difference and difficulty in finding space.

I thought this person was a lesbian or dated a trans guy

I get this is a game and visuals often hint at/show a characters personality but
Realistically how does aesthetics clashing mean jack shit about a relationship being compatible
Genuine question pretty much
@@Blip_OwOit’s just a way to tell a story. It’s not an insult on people with those tastes for aesthetics, but just a way for the story to show that this place with no color VS you who has a lot of color in their life. Kinda like clashing personalities.
@@angellava1337 That seems like a childish and frankly untrue view on compatibility...
You can have different aesthetics that go well, but when they clash it's more of a "we don't have much common ground or anything to talk about because we like different things."
Clarification: On paper, aesthetics don't sound like an issue (and in real life they mostly aren't), but what I was talking about was less about the literal sense and more about the metaphorical sense.
I did have to laugh at him though. He sounded like someone who talks about how their "89 y/o aunt has lived with her best friend for years and years", lol. Yes, Jack, she's got a new girlfriend. I just kept waiting for him to realize.
I was laughing so hard at Jack not quiteeee processing that the fifth level was moving in the main character's new girlfriend, even though you move in a new wardrobe of dresses, skirts, bras, and panties, as well as a box of tampons- but then upon encountering her shampoo and conditioner he says "oh, seems like men's hair products!"
Unpacking is such a creative game- moving house is always a personal time in your life.
I loved seeing her slowly collect more and more sketchbooks- again, so real to the artist lifestyle, you just can't bring yourself to throw the old ones away 😞 Also I CACKLED when Jack unpacked the CLASSIC posable wooden figure drawing tool- my mom got me one when she realised I was more serious about studying art, and I like to imagine it was similar for our girl :]
Overall, my favourite detail was the wear and tear on the stuffed animals becoming more pronounced until she gets her own apartment and patches the pig up, and then gets it properly cleaned/repaired to pass on to her baby :>> so, so cute. Such a perfect throughline and full circle moment for the story
Also, her sports phase ends suddenly and suddenly she has a cane and pain meds, insinuating she was injured (possibly by rock climbing) which could be why the boyfriend dumped her.

The clothes on the shoe rack and the shoes in the drawers killed me🤣
I was cringing so hard at that 😂
I was so grumpy about that 😂
Me too. I was SCREAMING
That actually sounds helpful to me 😆 I always forget what clothes I have, but will search for shoes. So it kinda makes better sense 😅
I… may have done that, realizing later my mistake. I felt like an idiot
Its so funny how quickly Sean picked up on some things - the boyfriend not making room for MC, but not others, that the MC was clearly moving in with friends in the apartment with DND stuff
And the one where he didn't realize the picture he had to put in the cupboard was a picture of her with her ex boyfriend she just broke up with 😂
I just assumed she found a better partner.
This actually made me really emotional. Seeing the diploma under the bed and then back in the parents house was just really emotional
The way everyone understands the first boyfriend is an asshole just by looking at his house brings a smile to my face
I thought the boyfriend seemed really cool. Much cooler than the first girlfriend. I don’t get the diploma obsession.
@@x_8643 First girlfriend? Those were roommates, which is why you couldn't move their stuff lol
the way sean talks to the game like he's supporting his friend and giving them advice really says a lot about his moral character. what a guy!
Best detail is that she had that mini for like 5+ years before she painted it. That's some real artist/gamer representation right there
Real
The average warhammer experience

DUDE ME TOO
I like how in the roommate house you could see cohesion in their joint existence; our character had a matching figurine, they were both artists, our character had a D20 and games and the caption was about game nights plus the styles fit so well together - you could really see how the characters would have gotten to know each other and had things in common/why they were friends. And then everything in the boyfriends apartment clashes us (in little ways but so much that it stacks up and is obvious)
i feel like they met the roommate during college and moved in after, especially because of the shared art interest
am i the only one who thinks its obvious that the house after college had 3 people living in it? (3 bedrooms, 3 towels, 3 toothbrushes, 3 drawers etc), it feels like a group of friends moved into a place during or after college
@@sprout8426 Absolutely, she moves in with what seems to be a woman and a guy (very feminine and masculine styles respectively).

Ultimately the main character is supposed to fit her life around his
I love that Jack acts like a nosy mother when he thinks the person is dating someone new
One feature of this game that I love is when you help your girlfriend move in with you. As with the past two people that you moved in with, it's implied that they didn't help you. and that you as the player character don't want your new partner to feel unwelcome, showing that your home is their home too.
That is true, it's a small detail, but it makes a world of a difference.

The way Sean immediately hates the boyfriend's place as much as the rest of us, really makes me happy

@@DaysofKnight What an unempathetic look at things.
Now we just need the "you move into a retirement home" DLC.
Nah we need one one the MC and her girlfriend's kid. I would love to see what kind of person their kid becomes as they grow older ☺️
@@bloop4627Yeah though unless they come with stuff in the future with technology and stuff, I don't think we will get that till maybe in the 2050's since their kid was born in 2018 it seems. Maybe we could get one of the characters sister or their parents that they have according to a photo.
On the darker side I wish there were more levels where you
go through a divorce and you have to move into a really shabby apartment. Or possibly one of the partners dies and you have to downsize either by continuing as the main protagonist or take over as the other parent. Its better that it ended the way it did but I love drama 🤣
"If he loved you he would make space, those are just the cold hard facts". These are the words that I needed to hear. This is why I love jack
That had nothing to do with their sexuality. The fact that the main character ended up with a feminine partner (presumably, they could be trans however) is separate from the fact that one relationship was toxic and one wasn’t.
