Austin from day one you have been such a calming person to watch. The footage you get is beautiful and interesting. Romantic almost in a beautiful way. Good job. Keep up this lovely channel.
Hi Austin, I went to the Vicwest website, can you confirm that you used the Barnmaster 32" wide? Also, how long were your panels? Looked like 30 feet? What size hole did you predrill? Have you done another Quansit Hut Roof and did you use 2 panels instead of one like you mentioned? Unfortunately Vicwest does not sell this "agricultural panel" in the USA. Do you happen to know of a US based manufacturer that has a flat stock metal that is bendable like Barnmaster? or another Canadian mfg that may ship to the US? I am trying to redo a barn for my daughters wedding reception in August, so a quick reply would be much appreciated. Thank you, Jon
Austin I like your work! I need your help I need to get some of those panels for a job but can’t find it? What distributor do I need to go too?and is there a different name for it I live in Minnesota thanks
Enjoyed this vid. Don't know how I missed it before. Handling old roof curves and large flexible sheets is never a cake walk. Good job and good video. Thanks!
I don't like seeing you working alone all the time, its not safe! I wish I were your helper. i always start commenting to soon, I.m glad to see you got a little help but I still wish i were helping you carry the steel as needed. OK time to finish watching LOL
Sorry Austin I didnt watch before...I'm scared of heights..I couldn't watch ,but watched some of it this time...Awesome job as always, the views was gorgeous..roof looked great!! Glad there's guys like you to do roofing jobs...the horses were beautiful..keep up the great work😃
I’m sure the snow beads right off the next day? And previously the snow accumulated on? I want to build a S or Q Quonset in norther Washington as an aircraft hangar. Worried about snow accumulation on the stock Quonset roof. Can get heavy fast. Let me know if your metal roof panels shed the snow fast. Thanks.
I want to do my curved Quonset roof. I didn’t know that the steel roof sheathing would bend with the roof contour. I really thought the ribs would make it kink. I’ve seen them put the roof tin on horizontally.
they are the new style tab design , witch they recommend for the higher wind rating , looks like a bad batch for sticking or and what season they installed them ? , the new tar on tabs is more elastic rubber than the old tar dots , the new stuff is really tacky and the tabs are more strong , the old 3 tab are a thing of the past soon also
Well it is VERY windy out there and no protection from the wind either. I was told the roof was put on in the summer so my guess is it just got too windy. Shingles are a bad idea on a quonset unless they are t-locks; they stopped making them about 20 years ago, probably because they were too good lol
@@AustinTischler ya the wind seemed to hit that one section the most ,the angle ... also the old diamond pattern asphalt shingles from the 1930's did well also , ive seen them last close to 50 years on my grandpas house , the new roof looks like it should hold up now , great job !
This is really awesome and I’ve been trying to look into having this done. If it’s not too much to ask, what did this job cost? I’m looking to do a 30x60 hut and wonder what kind of cost I’m looking at. Thanks for the video and I hope you can answer for me. Stay safe
Hey man, did you have any trouble with the sheets wanting to kink? Have the same roof to do and was worried about the sheets contouring to the shape of the roof.
That came out nice! Not suprized the shingles didn't hold up, I've even seen interlocks blown off of a quonset . . . those wide ladders look nice, they can be used as scaffold too?
I hope you got paid really well because that is a dangerous job especially with all that cold wind and ice. And when you said the gopro died and you were going to do it one handed I said please don't.
Not to sound lazy but I just don’t have the time to set all that up. I tried a plug in microphone with a wind sock but it’s so windy here it really doesn’t make that much of a difference
Loved the horses running at the end. The roof looked like it would be hard because of the curve. Superb job!!!
You don’t just do a job - you do it right. As always, I like the heights and the scenery. The part with the horses is great.
The roof looks great. Pretty horses.
Nice Job!! Sturdy looking! Loved the horses !
I'm not good with heights without some kind of support. I even get freaked out on my porch roof! I envy your ability to do that!
I was clenching my teeth, when I watched you go up and down that curved roof. Great job and well done!
I really enjoy watching all your content, I love this channel!

That new roof looks fantastic!!
Fascinating Austin. Thank you. No escape from hard work. Take care.

What an incredibly massive and dangerous job! You make it look easy. Well done
Austin - that was an epic video. Well done and very good workmanship. Thank you.

Fascinating , thank you for the work that you do to provide such great 👍 videos while you get your other job done
Challenging? Yet you made it look so easy. Beautiful job. Excellent content and the ending with the horses ❤
That was an interesting project! Loved the aerial shots, pretty spectacular!
Where did you get the metal panels from and what rib design is it? I don't have one like this that I can find in my area.
Wow 🤩 great work and in the cold !!! You and your buddy are ninja workers 🌟
We rarely get snow but I keep a big and a small shovel in our car all winter just in case.
Sorry Austin I didnt watch before...I'm scared of heights..I couldn't watch ,but watched some of it this time...Awesome job as always, the views was gorgeous..roof looked great!! Glad there's guys like you to do roofing jobs...the horses were beautiful..keep up the great work😃
Nice work , very interesting to watch.
What guage is the metal? How tall is the rib
I have one similar to do at my place.
Good job.
Exceptional job.
nice job. Will you do a roof in Indiana USA?
Haha i wish I could!
Re-roofing the prairie - one job at a time!
Great job
Yeah that kind twist up when there is no wind. And when you are on a roof with a bunch of wind it really does.
Thanks.
Yes the snow always melts off faster on metal, mainly because it slides off even when it gets a little bit sunny out, especially on the darker colours
I want to do my curved Quonset roof. I didn’t know that the steel roof sheathing would bend with the roof contour. I really thought the ribs would make it kink. I’ve seen them put the roof tin on horizontally.
Good thing there wasn't any wind!
Awesome job!

that's a big roof, stay safe
Like your haircut Austin!
👍👍👍👍👍🎄🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁🍀 it's not safe working alone. Be careful Austin.
What a big job. It sure looks good thou
What type of panels are those? Thickness, rib profile, looks predrilled?
They are 29 gauge low rib panels, and yes I pre drilled them off cameras
I like the music you had playing.
This is really awesome and I’ve been trying to look into having this done. If it’s not too much to ask, what did this job cost? I’m looking to do a 30x60 hut and wonder what kind of cost I’m looking at. Thanks for the video and I hope you can answer for me. Stay safe
I believe the total invoice was about $13,500
Hey man, did you have any trouble with the sheets wanting to kink? Have the same roof to do and was worried about the sheets contouring to the shape of the roof.
With the low rib there wasn’t any kinking it contoured the building very nicely. I imagine regular 7/8 rib profile would be a different story lol
Thank You
Do you get Chinooks where you are no?
No that’s further west from us
So are the sheets too heavy to bring over two at a time? Half the trips back to the trailer.
More awkward than heavy. If I brought 2 over the second one would just get scratched up as I lift the first one on to the roof
I like the huge log pallet ,you should break it up for use in the future .That is if it is not returnable .
I get to keep them! Theres 12 16’ 2x4s and lots of 32” pieces so those should come in handy for when I build my shop!
That came out nice! Not suprized the shingles didn't hold up, I've even seen interlocks blown off of a quonset . . . those wide ladders look nice, they can be used as scaffold too?
Yes I bought 2 of them and an extendable plank they work really good for scaffolding
What kind of steel did you use? Maybe I missed you saying but don't believe so.
It was 29 gauge low rib and the manufacturer was Vicwest
What kind of metal was that you where using
It was a 28 gauge low rib steel. Vicwest is the manufacturer
What gauge is this metal
I hope you got paid really well because that is a dangerous job especially with all that cold wind and ice. And when you said the gopro died and you were going to do it one handed I said please don't.
looks great... 3yr warranty with every referral
Have you thought about using a microphone windscreen for better audio? You would be much better understandable out in the windy areas.
Not to sound lazy but I just don’t have the time to set all that up. I tried a plug in microphone with a wind sock but it’s so windy here it really doesn’t make that much of a difference
Do a demo without swearing? Lol
My stomach is cringing, you are freaking me out
I’m doing a similar project and need mucho advice, reached out to your insta account as well. Please read 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great job
