I love how you just get straight to the point unlike most people do. It definitely makes the video more enjoyable to watch. (MK7 is my favourite Mario Kart game too so W opinion from you)
I think my biggest gripe with the tanooki power up I have is that it can deny me an item from an item box if I choose to hold onto it. But in MK7, there is no beat box power up, so I don't see a strong incentive to take much of anything else in 1st. It's an awful item to get in 2nd/3rd/4th though.
You lost me when you said Toad Circuit was appreciated in the BCP and that Rock Rock Mountain is S-Tier. I respect this take though since I don't see a lot of love for 7.
It kills me how everyone I know would put Wario shipyard as the best track in the game (kind of). And everyone online find it mid. Like what is mid exactly? It's the first Wario track that isn't some sort of a stadium. (as for why Wario, yeah idk) It's an underwater track. There isn't a lot in this game actually. There is set piece after setpiece. Some hard turns. One of the best gliders. Neat multiple path that each have their uses. Like I guess it's not everyone's favorite. But people always put it toward the bottom of the nitros. (sometimes even retros.) and maybe thats a testament to mk7 great track design. But while I would understand people not liking rosalina's ice world (Im way too biased toward this track BTW) I don't get why Wario shipyard get the same treatment.
3 words. Mario Kart Tour. Back about a year ago, Wario Shipyard kept appearing on multiple tours in that gamr and people hated it. They found it repetitive and disliked it even more each update it appeared in. Most Mario Kart fans appreciate it, but Tour fans don't. This may not be totally accurate, but this is the best reason I could think of.
I dislike Wario’s Shipyard because I find it visually very appalling, and it’s too slippery for my liking. Also the theming is a bit weird, I can’t recall any previous revisions of Wario being a shipmaster. Looking back it’s not a TERRIBLE course, it just kinda falters in comparison to 7’s other great tracks.
@@SuperAwesomeGuy I mean. Wario loves gold. So having a shipyard to scavenge through isn't the worst idea. Even tho it's a stretch. But let's forget Wario. Because in the grand scheme of things it could just be a stand alone track. Track being slippery? Then I guess that's why you don't like rosalina's ice world. But honestly I don't even know what you mean by slippery? Because the only slippery tracks in mario kargames are the sand, some dirt and ice sometime snow. And the only exception I know is neo bowser city. Because it's raining. (so maybe Luigi circuit from gba as well idk) I planed on going though mk 7 again. So I'll check that. Maybe it's just that you don't like mk7 underwater physics that much and this track ask you more control than any other underwater segment from the rest of the game. Idk?
@@theoddone9615 I'm never gonna skip on this track. But yeah i guess that reasonable answer. (maybe because tour gameplay require varied tracks to be interesting.)
I get the exact opposite. Everyone I see (online, irl) thinks this is a great track. Me personally? I don’t care too much for it. I like it, I never disliked it. But it’s just there. It doesn’t entirely fit Wario, but hey, it’s also a ghost track (which is often one of my favorite course themes) but again, to me, it’s forgettable. But it’s not bad.
Bad opinion. Honestly really love the video though. Love the thorough explanation of your thoughts and you really did do a good job defending a lot of the great aspects of this game
I do think the superhorn in MK8 is just a good revision of the tanuki leaf which improves on its concept. Aside from that, amazing video, love the content; keep it up
I think the best way to compare how good the controls are in 7 compared to 8 is by comparing the final turn of toad circuit (the one with the 5 coins) and the turn in Hyrule Circuit (the one with the spin boosts that you need to hit for the shortcut). In 8, I’ve never been able to hit all 3 boosts. And I have to pray that some other player activates the one I missed. Whereas in 7, I can collect those 5 coins on toad circuit every time, without fail.
I haven't played OG 7 in a while but CTGP-7 is pretty good, tons of custom tracks, CC Selector, Custom Karts and shit, Mission Mode are all nice additions
After playing MK7 to completion and getting 4K VR in it, I tried MK8 and, control/kart wise, was instantly unimpressed. You see, I’m a Toad guy, who is Jack shit in MK8, because I swear acceleration is useless in this game. I don’t know what’s wrong or if I just need better kart parts but in comparison to early MK7 that games feels SO much better so looking back I definitely see why people would prefer MK7 because I totally agree that while it is considered the “MK8 Beta”, it has its own feel and play style. Also made me love karts again after only ever using bikes

Ok, so you make a lot of valid points and I’m not trying to invalidate your opinion, but god some of your “points” contradict one another so much. You mention the controls and how MK8/Wii is “too floaty”, and while I can’t speak for Wii as I never played it, 8 is literally just 7 but refined. Not sure where you got “floaty” from. You complain about wario shipyard and rosalina’s ice world being slippery, but Neo Bowser City is ok? With the retro courses you say that MK8’s BCP exists just adds extra content, while I won’t disagree, you never mention the quality of all the base-game retro tracks from 8 and how much effort they put into making those feel like the nitro tracks. Most of the video just feels like going over all of 7’s strengths while downplaying everything 8 did better than 7. However, There were a good few points you made that I totally agree with. The tracks are incredible, the music is lit, the roster is… okay, and while I think 8 does multiplayer better in my experience, I won’t deny that 7 was smooth a lot of the time. But case-and-point is that while it’s okay to have your opinion, it has to make sense or else you’ll just sound really nostalgia blind. Also 7 was my first mario kart game so I have a soft-spot for it in my heart. TL;DR: All lot of your opinions suck, others are good, sorry for ranting.
this is objectively wrong most time trials in wii i see are people doing some crazy mountain climbing shenanigans and finishing in 20 seconds in online, everyone uses the same 1 or 2 characters. probably a balancing problem there.
Eh, the Mk7 rainbow road imo is one of the worst. It's long, boring, and slow. Rainbow roads are usually difficult and fun, I think the wii one is the hardest and most fun. The one in 8 is okay too, but being able to play I think all of the Rainbow Roads in mk8, its very obvious that the one in 7 is one of the worse ones.
The Mario Kart 7 rainbow road is the only one where you actually feel like you are in space. Launching off planets, riding on asteroids and moons. Mario Kart 8 is a bland, boring loop in the shape of an 8.
this whole video is just "here are the reasons this game sucks and here are my defenses that still don't properly justify why the game sucks" you tried your best tho!
I think you failed to make a convincing argument here. "Eh, it's pretty good" sums that up. Wii has such unique physics and awesome glitches, and 8DX is exploding with content and has great graphics and the only great battle mode. I go back and forth between those two for the #1 spot, and this video didn't change my mind.
Ok I’ll reiterate here, that “Eh, it’s pretty good” was meant to be sarcastic since I spent the previous 8 minutes singing the game’s praises, that’s my bad I sounded too genuine. The reason I believe MK-7 is the best entry is because of the course selection, which I think is the best out of the entire series since it’s consistently good whilst other entries have some courses that make me want to jab my eyes out with a spoon (looking at double dash and 64), + the controls are unrivaled, I get that Wii has the whole learning curve thing going for it, it’s got incredible depth, but that’s just not my cup of tea. Being able to spend 100s of hours on a game and actually developing skill along the way is always a nice option and adds so much value to the game but I’d just rather *not*. Also yeah 8 has a crap-ton of content thanks the the BCP, but most of it’s recycled from Tour and doesn’t translate well to 8’s engine IMO. They butchered the camera so badly with halfpipes and just odd hit boxes here and there. Regardless, thank you for sharing your opinion!
It's an awesome game. The non existing versus mode is the *only* problem this game has. The rest is a solid 10/10.

I agree with alot of the points here, but the lack of a VS mode really killed the game for me

good video
Personally I think super circuit is the best, though it's nice to see people love 7
Gonna be honest, you’re the first person I’ve ever encountered who considers Super Circuit their favorite. Interesting.
My problems with it is
1 the controls or the forced circle pad becomes uncomfortable and the constant pressing of the a button on the 3ds is also uncomfortable but you can use Y instead but it only helps for so long and what I mean by forced circle pad is that you cannot use the d-pad for moving which is much better for 7 since the circle pad can feel uncomfortable compared to the nice d-pad and the reason is likely because they didn't want you accidentally pressing the up d-pad to activate 1st person but here's an easy solution
make the 1st person button X as that has no function if I recall correctly
2 The generic feel of the game is massive to me I don't know why it feels so slow and dry a lot of the time
3 No versus mode that's all I have to say
4 Battle Mode still has no timer (maybe I don't 100% know)
5 Character selection this is the first Mario Kart with the most odd or worthless additions that felt that way (double dash was first with the baby's so they could balance the chain chomp) with Honey Queen from Mario Galaxy and Metal Mario from Mario 64 felt like wasted slots to me as who asked for Honey Queen and it's obvious Metal Mario was because they either ran out of time or just were too lazy to add a new model to the game at that point and I find it funny how the clone is the best in 7.
Now for the good parts
1 I love the additions of Lakitu and Wiggler. Lakitu makes sense since he funds these races if I recall correctly and he's just a fun character to have after all this time and then Wiggler is just fun and fine since he's been in Mario Kart before in Maple Treeway and is fun and cool (imo)
Also Shy Guy finally got some justice after just being a link play exclusive in DS
2 The game is a lot more balanced then it's predcessor on the Wii with the Blue shell being nerfed and the removal of the thunder cloud and pow blocks which frustrate a match in Wii more then you'd think. In general the items in Wii were either too simple, too short or too similar
the pow block is just a weak and simple lightning the thunder cloud is bs and the mega mushroom is far too short to be enjoyed enough and none of these items were worthy staple items (neither was blooper but we don't talk about that) but 7 had the Fire Flower which is a cool idea reminding me of the Mario Bros special in Double Dash but better (kind of) the fire flower is an okay item good enough to stay in for me and 8/deluxe. The balance can make the game more generic or bland like I said above but it's a lot better then wanting to slam your head on a table in Wii because of a blue shell or lack of hitstun immunity. The Tanooki Tail and Lucky 7 are boring and forgettable. The Tanooki Tail is a precise attack blocker and the float can mess you up which makes it much less reliable then just a shell or banana in 1st or 2nd
3 The retro track selection is great Dino Dino Jungle, from DD Airship from DS (Don't know the full name) tons of Wii tracks and more
4 The new selector for karts, wheels and the newly added glider (which will come soon in the good parts) are customizable on a much larger scale then before as you could pick 5 karts or bikes after unlocking them all in Wii which is simple and good but I like the customizable aspect in 7 as it added some complexity or creativity for both the player and how to unlock the items (specifically the gold set)
5 The Glider feels natural in Mario Kart so it feels odd that 7 introduced it but it did and it did it well with tracks utilizing it well. I especially love the way it feels in 7 compared to 8/deluxe in this game it feels like you're in control but in 8/deluxe it feels like you're already on a set path forward and can only go left or right compared to 7 and it's down up reward compared to 8/deluxe being way better
6 Rainbow Road is an amazing track that alone deserves praise as likely the best in the series for it's differences being healthy and fun unlike 8/deluxe which is boring or sameish as other tracks making it feel less special. Then there's Shy Guy Bazaar, Rock Rock Mountain, Music Park, Neo Bowser City, and DK Jungle are all amazing and fun tracks that either look good feel good or are good
7 Drifting feels good unlike 8/deluxe which feels slippery
That's my distains and love for the game it's just another Mario Kart to me but that doesn't make it any less fun
I see, so they replaced the tanuki tail for the new horn thingy hm ? At least the super horn kills blue shells !

Mario kart 8 and wii are way better but this is my 3rd favorite.
Wii is so annoying because it's so popular it's hard to get people to shut up about this game
And if we're talking about CTGP 7 it will easily crush those two
