This thing saved me from a few horrible mistakes. Unlucky updates, bad experiments, i once killed grub accidentally. This thing saved me on all occasions. It takes a lot of space but it works way better than windows restore point alternative.
You can save Timeshift snapshots to an external hard drive, but it needs to be formatted in ext4. :)
I use timeshift on arch, btw.
Makes experimentation wit the system a lot less risky, thanks for advice.
Timeshift is a lifesaver. It's like System Restore for Windows. I always make a snapshot before I do anything critical, like installing a new desktop or upgrading graphics drivers. You can even use it if you can't boot to your desktop. Just boot your computer from a Live Install USB/DVD and run Timeshift (it comes pre-installed on Linux Mint). You'll be able to choose snapshots off your hard drive and restore it.
Lifesaver maybe?
how do I save from a linux live usb, so that it saves the disk that is in my pc? THANKS
I don't see this in the interface_
I would love to see you return to the CodeWars series
i use clonezilla for backups. If the drive fails i still have a clone of the system on another device
I looked at Timeshift once, right up until I read that snapshots couldn't be recorded over the network, even when using Rsync. Didn't waste my time reading why, just carried on using good old rsync and cron. Problem solved. None of this crap GUI app with restrictions.
its a good video
Me irreversibly screwing up my system trying to fix a minor bug in an application I'm using

"Remote and network devices are not supported" Boo that is rubbish.
First view❤
I do not understand the logic there as the only files that have value is the personal files, the system can be reinstalled easily, so making a backup of the system files is not very useful
I feel the complete opposite of what you said is true. I can easily redownload all my games or pictures from steam and google, what would not be so easy is to get my system configured properly with proper drivers and everything actually working. Sure if I'm working on a book or something I will take special care to back that up
"live saver" is a meaningless duo of words. You can tell someone to live safer, or something can be a life saver.
Really?
@@aftalavera if this comes as a surprise, you should google the meaning of the words 'live' and 'life'.
What is your video worth for if you don't even link the tool in the desc. of the video?
How hard is it to fucking search it up the names in the video and tittle
