- As I upload this in late May 2023, it is time to remember the greatest of them all, the legend that was Lester Piggott, sadly lost to the racing world almost a year ago. Lester's closest friend was Sir Peter O'Sullevan and so it was entirely appropriate that he should make a video in tribute to The Maestro's then record breaking 29 classics after his first retirement in 1985. Of course, as we know how, the story was not to end there. Lester, in his typically enigmatic fashion, was to return 5 years later to add another classic together with many more memorable moments. Here we will see the first 29 with recollections and reminicences from many of the players along the way. Henry Cecil, Jeremy Tree, Clive Brittain, Joe Mercer, Vincent O'Brien and many more. It is a sad reflection that in almost a matter of months we lost Lester, Joe and Jimmy. These were the heros of my childhood and early life, now consigned to a bygone age. Time to relive some of those great moments all over again.

THE GREATEST JOCKEY ON THE PLANET.
Did I hear him say ‘small field ‘ in a 22 runner derby 😂
Lester and Vincent didn't need a conversation to discuss what was required they were in tune with each other and more importantly with the horses Two exceptionally talented judges Of horses and their ability i have been gambling and watching horseracing for over fifty years i honestly don't think 🤔💭🤔 I've Seen a Better Jockey Or trainer They were both in a Class Of their Own. Peace Dublin Ireland 😜😜😜
they finished the video too early, wait for Rodrigo and there might still be a few more yet....
They later did a updated version with Derek Thompson in 1998 which is available on DVD
