Say it again sir. I play for a church here in Brooklyn and one of the praise leaders wanted the musicians to take solos on a particular song. To me, I’m there to minister as part of the ministry of music and don’t feel that taking a solo is appropriate because it’s about worshiping God as a body (the collective of music, singers and musicians) not any particular person.
I found this comment offensive. This man is OBVIOUSLY playing for God and doing a fantastic job of it. If for some reason, as it seems to me, you believe he is taking “center stage” in this video, it’s because the recording, at least to my understanding, is being done behind him for the purpose of showing other drummers, like myself, what he is playing and how he is doing it and the sound has more drums than the whole Worship Team on it, which for drummers looking for guidance on new songs to them, need. I think the commenter’s statement was rude and he owes this man an apology. Sir, I applaud your work for God and I’m grateful that I can learn to give my best to God and my congregation through learning from you. God bless you.
So through your performance you're not giving him glory? Remember he gave you all the skills he is not jealous when you go off on the drums, God enjoys that. It goes up to him as a sweet perfume
To get anything done in the earth, God needs people. The one thing God cannot do for himself is praise and worship- he needs us to do it for Him. You are performing whether you want to admit it or not. In days of old, if you weren’t skillful as a musician, and you were summoned to play before a king, your head was gone if you sucked. Perform for Your king
We have a video that we filmed with their Director of Audio where he walks through all of the mics, etc. The main reason why they are behind is so that they can be lower so that they are not seen when the stage drops down and Pastor Joel Osteen is preaching.
Amazing playing. I also play the drums at my church. My mother is the worship leader. I must know what is the combination of that stack you've got there on your far right???
God gave this guy and others like him the talent to play drums. It's ok to play with gusto and inspiration as a drummer for the lord. Just don't over play. Those who think that drummers and musicians in praise bands should some how remain unseen and talents hidden are wrong. Those who think vibrant playing some how distracts from the ability of people to worship are rediculous. It enhances it and most members attending love it. Plus it invites new members to come worship god as well. So, play with gusto and let your god given talent lose.
Some of you are killing me. Being a percussive instrument, the drums and drummer have the awesome ability to impact the song and change the mood of worship like not other instrument. For years I've received compliments from people young and old. I'm taking that as they are blessed and affected. I'm exaggerating, but do you think it is appropriate to play all songs with brushes? Plus, this video singles out the drummer. If you are sitting in the congregation and worshiping, you are not seeing him alone. The whole band is blending. That church has many great musicians and probably many professionals. Also, taking solos is a form of worship by the musician. All that being said, if the musician is trying to create a one man show, that is not good. But that is not this drummer. Let's not get too legalistic.
I always have to question why so many worship drummers feel the need to post videos like this of their playing during a worship gathering. I’ve been playing 24+ years and will never do it. I think it is just dangerous. Kinda reminds me of praying loudly on the street corner for everyone to hear, or making yourself look run down so everyone will know you have been fasting…Different if someone else posts a video of you playing somewhere. I think it just sets a trap to fall into doing it for all the wrong reasons. When I play on Sundays, I am elevated up for everyone to stair at me and I truly hate it. I’m not the focus. Also, so many worship bands today obsess over scoring things that no average person can worship to.
As a pastor myself, I understand your concerns, but thankfully this is not that. These videos are simply a way for us to encourage, equip, and inspire other worship drummers and show how other churches are doing things.
It can be easy to fall into the trap of being a ‘content creator’. I for one think it’s amazing having these resources, as a kid coming up playing in church, it was not this easy to learn parts. I’m pretty sure I’d only seen 4 worship drum instructional videos in my first 2 years of playing in church.
When I’m posting content of me playing anywhere I do it because it’s fun. I understand that our playing should be all about worship to God. But there’s nothing wrong with posting this content for providing younger musicians with resources people older than me didnt have, and because to just learn from each other. I absolutely love learning from other drummers and taking some things and edifying it to make it me.
This is an instructional video of a professional musician showing how it’s done at the highest level. We need more of this not less. He’s not showboating, he’s getting ‘er done and even if he was, it sounds amazing
Remember that as a drummer for the lord you’re not there to perform you’re there to host his presence, it’s about him and him only. Great playing man!
Yup - very important

We did a full drum gear rundown in another video that’s already posted.
Where can we watch the full mix of this version? :) :)

@@worshipdrummer I love the raw mix better than the live mix haha. In this case production ruins everything. Would love to hear it live.
Who actually sing this version of this song. What group
It's a Lakewood Music song called This Is The Day.
Que educação amigo, o Brasil está carente de pessoas educadas na música, que respeitem o ritmo e seus contratempos, continue assim.
Excelente comentário amigo. O que falta é educação musical mesmo.
Still going with the Elevation thumbnail.
It’s a neww trend lol
Different coloured bar, different placement :) I just like the simple and clean look.
Its not patented big guy
thanks church for not sticking your drummer in a plastic box
Why are there so many empty seats?
It was the opening song in the service. It actually filled up afterward.

instrumental music is not authorized in the Lord's church, but in mans church I guess so.
Really, you got a bible verse to back that up?

his grooves are not fit for the song!! man, it's not presentation its worship service!! overplaying musician!!!
Opening song with lots of neo-gospel elements at a mega church while people filter in... you'd be the only one complaining.
you don't have dynamics!!
