Great video. So fun facts. USHL started as a senior hockey league, which is why the hawks are so old, survived the transition. I believe minus USA, were the only other team that plays on Olympic size ice. Also, I stay away from the dogs, get the tenders next time.
The party town name came about well before most of those fans started coming to games so that would explain why you probably asked newer fans. If you paid attention to when they scored they played a song called party town. They played it for the goal song and it stuck. We had shirts back in the day that had the lyrics on it. Thats how into it they got. Its settled down a bit but still around.
I've lost count of how many games I've been in this place... Waterloo is one of the two teams that i really grew up on (Des Moines is the other). So, two things that might surprise you: that horn attached to the scoreboard is not their goal horn, it's just the horn that goes off at the end of the period (instead of a buzzer). The goal horn is actually two train horns that are mounted up near the scoreboard... if it sounds like they're not hitting the horn at full tilt when they score, i honestly think it's because when they put these in, they were too powerful 😂 The other one is, Party Town is a full theme for this place that's been around at least about 25 years... their goal song is "Partytown" by Glenn Frey... but it works as a nickname for the arena too... so they've just built their identity around it.

I’ve heard many things about this barn and its fans. We in Lincoln call this one of the barns called Cowbell hell. It was so satisfying beating the in the 1st round this year.
In all my years of going to USHL games, Lincoln has by far one of the most passionate fan bases I have seen (I've gone to 12 arenas) and it's an honor that you guys call us "Cowbell Hell" 😅 I take it as a compliment more than anything
You need to come to the Pepsi rink at maysa arena in minot for a Minot Minotauros game. The best rivalry we have is vs the Austin Bruins were there is a high chance for a fight
I like this arena, as a Dubuque fan. I’ve been to 7 USHL arenas (only 4 for games, other for my junior games) and it’s definitely one of the better ones, top 3 for sure. Probably behind just Omaha Also oh my god the burger was amazing, and the window was a great feature
2:55 that's actually not the goal horn. that's the scoreboard period buzzer. the actual goal horn is a 3 chime hanging from the ceiling next to the video board. You can see it pretty clearly at 9:01

I really want to go to this place along with The RoughRiders Arena in Cedar Rapids and The Xtream Arena in Coralville.
Cedar rapids and Coralville are both really nice arenas, But beware with cedar rapids, they blast the music.
