  • Peter Kutzer of the ORVIS Fly Fishing School in Manchester Vermont demonstrate how to make three kinds of casts with a two-handed rod. Starting with a simple, static roll cast, he increases the amount of motion, moving to a dynamic roll cast, and then to the more advanced switch cast. As Peter move the line more, he is able to increase the line speed, which will enable you to cast farther and more accurately.

I always start out trying to learn fly fishing related techniques by watching videos on RUclips. After a few videos I realize that I'm not going to learn anything until I specifically look for the ones with Peter Kutzer in them. Thanks Peter; keep doing what you do.

Great tutorial Peter. Clear, uncluttered, jargon free. Excellent. Shame I've only just found it! Peter's Circle C cast tutorial is also excellent for those that have yet to see it.

Very nice lesson Peter, thank you! I did have to watch twice, but that was only because I got distracted by the crummy pond. ;) Will look for more videos in your series!

    * I've been flyfishing for 60 years and i have mostly sage rods with different lower end backups or beaters. I would highly recommend this rod as a good affordable backup rod for accomplished fly fisherman and would be a wise choice for a beginner or intermediate. You cannot find a better rod for the money.*

Would I be better off with a switch setup or traditional fly setup for the mullet run last 2 weeks of September. Tarpon and snook sometimes distance is important. Steelhead beach area.

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ruclips.net/user/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
