This is so great to watch. I am returning after half a century to the craft of model railway building. Planning stage at the moment but video really got me thinking. Thank you for the inspiration and looking forward to catching up on your new layout journey.
Like many, saw the empty baseboard thumbnail and read the title and panicked. Then I read the description and relaxed. It's going to be a great journey. The Dales were mostly up when I joined the channel, so seeing your start from scratch will be quite fun. Great fun to see! Best wishes!

It will be really fascinating to watch it all from the beginning. I've been a tremendous admirer of your skills as a modeler, and I too have to admit that for a second I thought something had happened to the old layout, or you had thrown in the towel and started from scratch. I've done it, so, it was a relief that the original will be staying put. One of the most beautifully detailed layouts I've ever seen. This will be fun to watch and a great opportunity to learn.

The doctor prescribed me new pills yesterday and I felt a little bit off this morning when I woke up I made a coffee jumped on RUclips and seen this at the top of my screen and suddenly thought I was having some sort of bad reaction to the new meds..good one Lewis

When I saw this I got really excited and made my wife watch it - but she still won't let me build a layout around the living room! I shall just have to settle for watching this new project blossom into something fantastic

Someone told me to watch this channel and I was mortified when I saw the botched up looking way things were being done. Now I cannot wait to see the next upload and this new layout is sure to be one of the best there is on youtube. Hopefully another layout of the year in Hornby mag. The results are stunning and make me wonder why I bother with my finickness when building my own scenery. I am by no means a rivet counter fine scale brigade but sometimes feel I take too much care to make things when I could use the methods shown here and get results that look just as good or better than my own.

I really like this kind of stations ! Reasonable cost in hardware and room, nice to see, very realistic and full of operating potential. It's an excellent example of the "little is great" trend of UK modellers you illustrate here, and that's my way of thinking too. In short, nice idea that looks promising. I won't miss the next episodes, you can bet on it !
The track plan is simple yet open so much possibilities as adding an engine shed near the signal box and a small dock or a coal dealer on the track in front of said signal box... can't wait to see how it will progress, and it inspire me to fight harder to overcome the health issues I am facing (as of now I am stuck in bed, unable to walk or even stand, and can only stay seated for a short time - my actual best being 20 minutes) to be able to finally start my dream layout in my future new adapted home.
Lewis, great to visit a developing plan in action. Your existing YT library of videos cataloguing the history of various iterations of your much loved YDMR, will be complemented by future such episodes in this additional project. Great to see you develop more opportunities on your interesting and innovative layout. P

This is going to be another great layout I can see already how good the flowing curves look. I think it is great having it as a part of the loft layout an idea I used on my two layouts which are also completely separate but some trains run through both on video to make it look like one huge layout

Hi Lewis, This came as a surprise... but a very interesting one ! Great idea to develop this end station as a separate layout. The buildings look fantastic. Scratch or kit build ? Nice flowing track. You have a natural talent and it all seems so easy and strait forward. Platforms in foam board and Will's stone sheet glued on with plaster is an innovating technique. Curious to follow along and to discover the art of this build. Have fun ! With admiration & greetings, Filip
Thanks Filip. They’re laser cut kits a got from eBay. I think they’ll look the part when all the scenery is in! I’ll cover them in plaster next to do the surfaces - looks horrendous at first but once it’s sanded and painted it looks alright. Used that technique on the old layout. ¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! No shock horror from these parts. Having followed your channel, for long enough, seeing this new section of The Dales coming to life, is definitely worth the wait. I'm positive those viewers, who are just starting off in this hobby, will be able to gain an insight into the construction and weathering techniques for a new layout. I for one, have learnt an awful amount when it comes to scenics, by following the development of YDMR. My only thoughts....your knees! Man, you make track laying look so effortless! Glad you've started this, gives me inspiration for my shed layout. I'm working with the track straight down on the board like this and building scenics around and above. Looking forward to next installment 👏
Thanks David. Best of luck with it. I’ve always just gone straight onto the baseboard - some people don’t like the noise but I like the rumble as the train passes.
@@MouldyRaspberry agreed. What I was getting at though is that on Yorkshire Dales you built a lot of track above the base level and scenery below?

Hi Lewis, This came as a surprise... but a very interesting one ! Great idea to develop this end station as a separate layout. The buildings look fantastic. Scratch or kit build ? Nice flowing track. You have a natural talent and it all seems so easy and strait forward. Platforms in foam board and Will's stone sheet glued on with plaster is an innovating technique. Curious to follow along and to discover the art of this build. Have fun ! With admiration & greetings, Filip
Thanks Filip. They’re laser cut kits a got from eBay. I think they’ll look the part when all the scenery is in! I’ll cover them in plaster next to do the surfaces - looks horrendous at first but once it’s sanded and painted it looks alright. Used that technique on the old layout. ¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! No shock horror from these parts. Having followed your channel, for long enough, seeing this new section of The Dales coming to life, is definitely worth the wait. I'm positive those viewers, who are just starting off in this hobby, will be able to gain an insight into the construction and weathering techniques for a new layout. I for one, have learnt an awful amount when it comes to scenics, by following the development of YDMR. My only thoughts....your knees! Also, I am guessing the new station name unveiling will be the subject of much speculation and, you will be holding us all on tenterhooks? As ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary
