It will be really fascinating to watch it all from the beginning. I've been a tremendous admirer of your skills as a modeler, and I too have to admit that for a second I thought something had happened to the old layout, or you had thrown in the towel and started from scratch. I've done it, so, it was a relief that the original will be staying put. One of the most beautifully detailed layouts I've ever seen. This will be fun to watch and a great opportunity to learn.

I've been SO looking forward to seeing this Lewis. Those buildings look fantastic - this promises to be a scenic delight, which all of us are hanging on. Certainly I have the greatest respect for ALL railway modellers, BUT, the seemingly effortless way you obtain such extreme realism and atmosphere with your work, kinda makes the elite fine scale brigade's extreme 'finickidyness' look, well, kinda - - -- - - - - - - you know what I mean. Someone told me to watch this channel and I was mortified when I saw the botched up looking way things were being done. Now I cannot wait to see the next upload and this new layout is sure to be one of the best there is on youtube. Hopefully another layout of the year in Hornby mag. The results are stunning and make me wonder why I bother with my finickness when building my own scenery. I am by no means a rivet counter fine scale brigade but sometimes feel I take too much care to make things when I could use the methods shown here and get results that look just as good or better than my own.

Thanks Ross, appreciate it. I sometimes forget that as well! It’s nice to have both. Hope you like the rest of the build.

Man, you make track laying look so effortless! Glad you've started this, gives me inspiration for my shed layout. I'm working with the track straight down on the board like this and building scenics around and above. Looking forward to next installment 👏

Thanks David. Best of luck with it. I’ve always just gone straight onto the baseboard - some people don’t like the noise but I like the rumble as the train passes.

@@MouldyRaspberry agreed. What I was getting at though is that on Yorkshire Dales you built a lot of track above the base level and scenery below?

It will be interesting to see how long it takes before you start adding bits at one end or the other - something I seem to remember from the history of the one in the loft! Keep them coming!!!

Hi Lewis, This came as a surprise... but a very interesting one ! Great idea to develop this end station as a separate layout. The buildings look fantastic. Scratch or kit build ? Nice flowing track. You have a natural talent and it all seems so easy and strait forward. Platforms in foam board and Will's stone sheet glued on with plaster is an innovating technique. Curious to follow along and to discover the art of this build. Have fun ! With admiration & greetings, Filip

Thanks Filip. They’re laser cut kits a got from eBay. I think they’ll look the part when all the scenery is in! I’ll cover them in plaster next to do the surfaces - looks horrendous at first but once it’s sanded and painted it looks alright. Used that technique on the old layout. Thanks again, always appreciate your comments 😀

Onwards!! For the both of us. Those laser kits, especially the station, look the part. Difficult? As always, Henry.

Thanks Henry! Much better than I thought they’d be. I thought they’d be very thin and flimsy, but they’re pretty solid. Straightforward to put together as well.

¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! No shock horror from these parts. Having followed your channel, for long enough, seeing this new section of The Dales coming to life, is definitely worth the wait. I'm positive those viewers, who are just starting off in this hobby, will be able to gain an insight into the construction and weathering techniques for a new layout. I for one, have learnt an awful amount when it comes to scenics, by following the development of YDMR. My only thoughts....your knees! Also, I am guessing the new station name unveiling will be the subject of much speculation and, you will be holding us all on tenterhooks? As ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary

Thank you Gary, glad you’ve found them useful. You definitely get a good workout clambering about on your knees that’s for sure. I’ll have to save the name reveal for the ribbon cutting!

Thanks for sharing. The new layout should be a good terminus for trains. You could make it branch line that is connected by the wonders of video editing to your other layout 😁
