This was a great night. It was the third gig, but the band was locked in. We started by warming up in NYC at The Bottom Line for two nights then off to Japan. One of the most important bands I ever had the pleasure to work with. Thanks for the video.
You know...I don't remember being aware that you had worked with them. Fantastic. Miss ya, brother...
I was at The Bottom Line shows. I locked into the LL around 1985 and saw every NYC show I could.
Great work here, Tony. Calvin did a great job as well but this is my favorite line-up of the band.
These guys jam...period...I'm 70 just turned on to them through HBO painting with John...love their vibe....
The Lizards were wild fun, with a haunting side, always want to keep listening to them....so damn glad they've been recorded...30+ years later still diggin' this amazing music...I got old, but their music never did...
Louise F. ....timeless, like Jim Jarmusch's movies....
Another brilliant band that was over looked and under rated, great performance, thanks!
no pain for cakes and Marc Ribot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This show. I am without words.
Wouaww as usual....a great concert !!
Bob the bob, one of my favorite, sounds JM Basquiat !!!
As usual....in love with The Lounge Lizards
Legendary
Great video, thanks for posting.
The person most often overlooked in my opinion is Evan Lurie on piano. In the shadow of his brother but an integral part of the band holding it all together.
I so agree. Evan sorta sneaks in and suddenly, this amazing piano is there, glorious!
"My Clown's on Fire"!! Fantastic!
I love this band. Great concert.
Really great documents! It's amazing to have the possibility to get know this kind of great material. Thanks everybody, ha.
Thanks for uploading this! There's only one Lounge Lizards, product of a time and place. And yet still incredibly timeless.
what an excellent concert!
beyond good!!!!
Gracias
oh wow, what a treat! so many wonderful things on RUclips, thanks for uploading
Thanks for uploading.
Great gig! Thank you!
Great! Never saw all of this concert, though have the CD "Live in Tokyo"...and I missed them..saw the concert in the listings and I didn't go...ah shit! a long time ago!
Love ❤❤
Watching painting with John also. ❤
What the hell is the guitar that Marc Ribot's playing? Fender Stratocaster body, Telecaster neck and pickup configuration? The god damn 80's...
I was just going to say, that dude looks exactly like the actor from Stranger than Paradise until...great concert !
:-))
Nice
Очень круто:-)
Even after almost 30 years, this has lost nothing of its power and its freshness. Where are the bands of today who play such music? Recommendations welcome!!
Jack Crone
Thank you! Nice one
Yo if you don't know him, definitely check out Christian Scott; he and his ensemble were some of the most incredible players I've ever seen. I really enjoy this track, but you can't go wrong. ruclips.net/video/kTWBxSk3owo/видео.html
Try these guys, not the same, but still interesting: ruclips.net/video/qsL3a4-pEr4/видео.html
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

John Lurie! on sax
think I am on Jupiter now
my clown's on fire, burn, baby, burn
🔥
Lurie’s HBO show is mesmerizing too....last week he looked out at everyone and said,, “why are you watching this? Don’t! Turn it off.”
How’d he know I’m addicted to TV.
couldn’t succumb to good advice....it’s too rare.
What the fuck was I doing listeting to Joy division?
Oh, how did "Blow Job" come about?? I know this as "It could have been very very beautiful" (one of my favorite LL songs) Lol.
He had to change the title of the song for the record company
how the hell does that guy get that sound on the bass
Fretless bass, active pickups, compression pedal, big amp, grow a ponytail
In that order of importance
@@Fretlessness Thanks.
What an amazing performance! Is this available on DVD or Blue-ray? I'm dying to get my hands on it.
当時観に行ったひといますか?
Blow Job sounds like it was copped almost entirely out of Poulenc's sonata for clarinet.
The New York hipster thing has always been to drone on over one chord, which is what most of these songs consist of. I know, it's trying to be Ornette Coleman but Coleman was a much more talented and deeper musician. One tune from them maybe. A whole concert would be annoying.
It's trying to be John Lurie which it does very successfully .
LOL...
haha
