  • Spillway Campground consists of 24 campsites at the furthest point from the entrance to Eleven Mile Canyon. It is located in the Pike National Forest along the South Fork of the South Platte River just below the dam on Eleven Mile Reservoir. The elevation is just under 8500'. There is no access to the reservoir from the campground.
    Tent only campsites are 2-6, 11-13, 17-18, 20, 22, & 24.
    RV sites have a max trailer length of 25ft.
    There are several tunnels on the road to Spillway Campground but it shouldn't be a problem for most RV's. See our video of Springer Gulch Campground where we drive thru the tunnels: • Springer Gulch Campgro...
    Fly Fishing is the most popular activity in the area. There are several hiking trails in or near Eleven Mile Canyon as well as abundant wildlife.

    thanks for posting the video. Very nice campground. Lot of big RVs there. Been curious of what this campground was like. I recently camped at 11 mi rocky ridge camp ground, and kayak'ed as close as you can get to the dam, which is prob 1/2 mile away from this. Thanks again.

      You're Welcome. The road in the campground was a little rough but that didn't stop the big RV's.

      Eric Moore did you ever camp at 11 mile reservoir

      I camped at the rock ridge campground which is located at the 11 mile state park. The 11 mile state park surrounds the reservoir. I camped there a couple times. I have not camped at the spillway campground, nor anywhere up the canyon.

    Thank you Campground Recon for providing videos of our beloved NFS Colorado Campgrounds. Like you I've experienced a number of bad campground reservations since it was tough to investigate with the use of google maps & google earth. It was hit or miss trying to figure out what site you were looking at. One question, I've seen in other videos you sometimes show a side view to the Right. Is it possible to also show a side view to the left? Since I'm pulling a travel trailer, in researching sites I like to see the angle of approach to the site and potential obstructions. Most of time it's obvious, but when there are lots of trees and bushes in the shot, it's hard to tell. Thanks, and keep them videos rolling.

      I appreciate the feedback! Those blind sites on the left make me cringe during the editing process. I try to pull into more on the left but they are not always empty. Our camera upgrade this last fall should make it an easier process to get both sides in this summers videos

    That was a great video. Thank you. I love this campground. We always choose the same place but in your video is looks like campsite 13 has direct access to the water. Do you know if thats true?

    • @CampgroundRecon
      @CampgroundRecon  4 года назад +2

      That is correct. There is a path to the water from site 13

    Do you know the average June-July high temperatures in the Eleven Mile Canyon area?

    • @CampgroundRecon
      @CampgroundRecon  3 года назад +1

      I'm only guessing here. Low to mid 80's maybe? Probably 40's - 50's at night. The elevation is around 8,500

      @@CampgroundRecon Thanks! One of the reasons we venture into the mountains is to escape the Texas summer heat. It seemed like this area would probably be a bit warmer than the southern CO area we typically visit.

      @@michaelnewton1505 I checked weather averages for nearby Lake George. 76 high in June and 80 is average high in July. Average lows are 38/44. Better than I expected.

      @@CampgroundRecon Not too shabby! Pretty comparable to our usual haunt, and DEFINITELY better than our 100+ Texas temps! Thanks for the info. I am really enjoying your videos, and I am getting some great ideas to explore outside our normal routine.
