That's what gates ought to be like.

The gates take a long time to close, 42 seconds (5:55 to 6:37) but only 31 seconds to open (7:53 to 8:24).
No doubt there's safety devices to stop the action if any obstruction is encountered.

i feel like crossing misuse wouldnt happen as often if all crossing gates were like this

The design is great... it just seems like it could close a little quicker than this... also sounds like it could use some lubrication... I could hear the squeaking over the warning noises...

I've never seen anything like those before they do the job need a bit of WD40 though, they take bit too long to close but designed very well. Nice signal box too, nice catches.

As an ex railwayman and son of a crossing keeper , who thought this up far too long to open and close asking for trouble IMHO.

There is a reason for them. High winds kept breaking the nornal barriers off at the shear bolts

There was an accident here couple of weeks ago...... train hit a car after gates failed to close

There was an accident here with a car a week or so ago. Not sure how it happened as it usually takes ages between the gates closing and the train arriving unless they were stuck on the crossing before they shut.

Do they start to close when the train is leaving the previous station, or 2 stations back?

Well It depends really. But it’s usually when a train arrives at the station before.

These should be installed at all those level crossings where there has been known damage cause dby people pushing the gates open even after they have eclsoed just to get through. Or those where cars/vans have been known to drive round the barriers

😮Warning: sliding gates may cause injuries... I think more people are going to be injured by the gates than by the trains... although admittedly the latter may be fatal

Nice video! I really dont like these gates, i think they should have done what brittania did and put one long barrier across the road from the signal box and put 2 shorter barriers on the other side where theres no lack of space.

Thanks! I like them personally but I see what you mean. They were installed here because it gets windy here most times.
