    I love y'all. I can't fathom doing a 100y in less than a minute but I suppose your backgrounds are in swimming so it makes sense. I've stopped training for a few weeks due to injury, 4 weeks out from a race, so I'm hoping I can be resilient and actually finish the race here coming up soon! Thanks for the inspiration!

    Late to comment here, but I just wanted to say that I found Chris's approach to be really inspirational. I love the idea of staying intentional in our workouts. It can be easy to tune out and just "do the volume." And while that may allow you to finish a race, it may not provide a lot of personal growth or sense of daily accomplishment.
    It can be a struggle to keep up this intention as fatigue sets in, but I think honing this skill in practice can ultimately make you a better racer.
    Really appreciate you two sharing this content ... you have access to some incredible mentors and we are lucky to benefit from that!

    My thoughts on fast or hard especially in a technique driven sport such as swimming. Fast with good technique describes just that fast, while hard can describe a variety of things that lead to poor technique. This also applies to running/cycling as well.

    Wish I could use all that equipment. All the local pools around me have literally banned paddles and snorkels from being used (same chain of gyms)... Don't ask me why snorkels are banned. Paddles apparently someone caught someones finger... Who knows.
    Great vid either way!

    Hey there! Currently I own the agility paddles and would like to ask your opinion whether is it worth to upgrade to Manta Paddles. If yes, may I know the reasons as per your experience. Much love from Malaysia !

    • @FreestyleTri
      @FreestyleTri  2 года назад

      Hi there! The manta paddles aren’t necessarily an upgrade, just a different use. We use both pairs regularly. The agility paddles are our favorite pair of every day paddles; but the mantas are great if you’re working on your catch AND have good technique already (they’re big and can cause issues if you don’t have your technique down). Let us know if this helps!

    I love your content, keep it up! Newb triathlete and recent subscriber: I noticed in your video that you do a lot of kicking. I know this is training and not a race, but I was curious if you use that same effort in the legs during a triathlon and do you feel fatigued at all in the legs when starting the bike leg? I’ve been trying to limit my leg activity during training but am now wondering if that would hurt my swim time at the cost of trying to conserve energy for later disciplines?

    • @FreestyleTri
      @FreestyleTri  2 года назад +3

      Thanks Brandon! We get this question a lot. Along with “why should I do flip turns?” … the reality is kicking makes you swim faster and more efficiently. Your heart doesn’t know the difference between swimming, biking, and running, so “saving your legs” is a little misconstrued. What we should be asking is “how can I save my heart?” In swimming: move through the water more efficiently and faster (swim for less time). If you can practice kicking correctly, build up your kick fitness, and incorporate it into your swimming, you’ll be a faster triathlete.

    Good advice for the running too :D what is the difference between "fast" and "hard" ? Dumb question maybe, but I don't really understand the difference ^^"

    • @FreestyleTri
      @FreestyleTri  2 года назад +7

      No this is a great question- you can go fast without going hard. You can also put out a ton of effort and go really slow… swimming is a magical act where trying harder does not ensure going faster. If you get your head down, make your kick smaller, glide a little longer, you can probably go faster without going “harder”. If you spin your arms like a madman, you’ll be trying harder, but perhaps not going as fast as you can
